I did not ask for the context - I asked for the meaning - what does maya mean to you in the spiritual context that you are using it? When you say the World is Maya, please elaborate what the meaning of Maya is.

Right, if you have done pancha-samskaram you get it at the time of death - therefore PS has to been well before.Dev wrote:Sudarshan:
One says you get it at the time of death but the other one says, by doing pancha samskaram that means well before death, right. Of course noone would know how long they would live.

Sudarshang,
I don't like the way you are asking this question, like you are trying to test my knowledge. Honestly speaking, maya doesn't mean anything to me. I am a very materialistic person, and for me, spirituality is maya, and the world we see is reality. Now when I said the world is maya, I said thinking of the definition of maya that I have read in spiritual books. Now, to tell you what it means, what I can do is quote from Sri Ramakrishna's book or from Swami Vivekananda's book or from the book of some other saints that I have read, or what I read in 'Bhagavad Gita', and I think, there is no need for that as you know what they said as you are so much into spirituality.
Swami Vivekananda had given a lecture titled 'Maya and Illusion' in England, and it is there in the book, 'Selections From The Complete Works of Swami Vivekananda'. It is 16 pages long. You can go through that lecture, and you will get to know what I meant when I talked about Maya.

Hope u got my message. Panchasamskaram enables u to get His blessings well before u die. That is what u mean, is it not? But many get panchasamskarams done but some are adharmic.
We have to have these intellectual discussions here like you, I and some have been doing in this forum.
It is like the saying Idle man's mind is devil's workshop, some people behave in this forum, who have never read a single saying. They fill it up with non-intellect materials.

With due respects to your knowledge:
Your statement is right, but only after a certain stage of evolution on the path to Moksha. Every individual is in a different stage. Shabdam predates creation. If you are able to perceive that He is the Vachyan of every spoken or written shabdam, the Jaalam will never happen. We are all only doing His kaingaryam. The letter "a" denotes Him. He is the creator of all languages. It is from His Lexicon that he decided to name Brahma as Brahma. He assigned Shiva's name as Shiva after that child started crying that I feel very dirty and lowly. He created Shabdam as the means for communicating and as a tool of understanding for the limited intelligence He has given us.
i respect your knowledge and ideas also
but theres a famous saying that "Music is the space between two notes"
the notes are the manifest, the silence is unmanifest...
what i feel is instead overdefining ides or conceptions let them be
let the music play.....
you may not agree with me
and thats ok
i was just putting an idea out there thats all

Swami Nammazhwar says "For that day, I am telling your name right now" - PS is that, and much more. I can share the secrets of PS only after you have done it. Because this samprayadam is secretive that way. Dont worry about those who are adharmic after getting PS done - The Lord knows how to bring them to line.
there is a saying in Tamil - even if there is one good person in town, there will be rain in that town.

Good one, Suniti. Don't worry, it was Maya, which made it seem like a hint when it was not so. No one is spared from the trap of Maya, not even spiritual people.suniti wrote:i dont think i have ever been so subtle as to be able to give a hint,

Thank you Maya, for defining yourself to Sudarshang and relieving me of the task.

Sudarshang,
I was speechless too, seeing Maya's coming into the picture, on its own. This is called God's grace, which comes to those, who loves Him dearly. Dry theories on spirituality can't take one that much closer to God as love can.

Yes, I know, it is appodaiku ippode cholli vaithen.
You probably know that I am also a carnatic musician. So I sing various Alwar pasurams like Amalan Adipiran of Tiruppan, Mannupugaz of Kulasekarar, Andal Tiruppavai, then pallandu pallandu and some others.
It gives me lot of peace of mind.

Suniti,
It depends on how you see this world. You can see it as Maya, and you can see it as the manifestation of God. When a guy looks at a beautiful girl and gets attracted to her, he is trapped by Maya, and when he sees her as an embodiment of Goddess Mother, he is seeing her as a manifestation of Brahman, and has transcended Maya.
