Just felt like sharing this based on the present context of Talib's last post:
When we are suffering - we are actually spending some of the negative karma we have accumulated. Since everybody's goal in the eventually spend all the Karma, positive and negative, if it so happens that we are suffering because of the actions of an individual, we should in fact be THANKFUL to that person that we got an opportunity to spend that negative karma that is in store!
Swami Koorathazhwan, one of Ramanuja's foremost disciples, lives this principle so beautifully! There was a person named Nalooran in the court of the Chola king those days (11th Century). This Chola king was a Saivite and was constantly troubling Vaishnavites. Nalooran told the Chola king about Swami Ramanuja and prodded the king to make him agree that Shiva was mightier than Vishnu. The King sent for Swami Ramanuja. Swami Koorathazhwan came to know about this. Immediately he convinced Swami Ramanuja to escape from Srirangam. Now in Ramanuja's place swami Koorathazhwan and another of Swmi Ramanuja's disciples by name Periya Nambigal went to the Chola king's court. Using intelligent arguments Swami Koorathzhwan tried to convince the Chola King that Shiva is not ParaBrahmam. Narayana is. The king wont be convinced. He asked Koorathazhwan to sign on a paper that there is nothing bigger in existence than Shiva. Koorathazhwan cleverly mocking it, wrote on the paper that Dronam is bigger than Shivam (Shivam and Dronam are units of measurement). King understood the mockery and immediately ordered both the disciples to the blinded. Swami Koorathazhwan ended up pulling his own eyeballs out and remained blind all his life. Even later on when Swami Ramanuja asked Koorathazhwan to plead with the Lord to restore his eyesight, he refuses to ask the Lord for anything!
Now, considering that he underwent so much of pain (Separation of more than 12 years from his Guru Ramanuja, Endangerment to Swami Ramanuja's school of Vishitadvaita, loss of Swami Peryia Nambi's life when they were returning form the Chola King's court, Having to live his life blind etc.,) because of the plot hatched by Nalooran, normally Swami must have been angry towards him. However, at the time when he ascended to Moksha - the Lord asked to ask for 2 favors - The First favor he asked for was Moksha for Nalooran!! and Lord did give Moksha to Nalooran as well! Sri Vaishnavas even today celebrate the "thirunakshatra" (popularly known as "star birthday") of Nalooran! If it were not thanking Nalooran for the suffering he underwent, what else could be it?
The second favor he asked the Lord was Moksha for all people associated with him....Swami Ramanuja, in fact, after hearing this danced on the streets that he was going to get Moksha because of Swami Koorathazhwan!
Swami Koorathazhwan Thiruvadigale Charanam.

I suppose this might be related to this topic as well ... How you do respond to idiots like this that call themselves "rationalists" and yet don't understand the rationality behind the Sanatana Dharma?

These are chamchas of Darwin who believe we were monkeys before. What they see is what they believe. I wonder how do they believe how they were born, because at the time of their parents' Scientifical semen-ovary Conference, they were not present.Sudarshang wrote:I suppose this might be related to this topic as well ... These should not be debated with. A debate about the Sanatan dharma should solve the purpose of bringing a satvika to the ground reality. If the basics are not clear to the other people OR the satva is not visible even 1%, they should be given a chance to commit suicide and take another birth to unlearn the futile learning of current birth, and learn real samskaras, which their intellectual garb will prevent them from gathering in the current birth.
Bottom line, never argue with an idiot, he will bring you down to his level, with experience.
Yes, like we know our credits and debits in terms of money in the day to day life or throughout this janma, we do not know what we have carried over from past janmas. Both credit and debit balances are unknown. If we suffer on some grounds, say in terms of job, marriage, health, progeny, friendship, lack of it, mind etc, it means that the sins due to this particular aspect has been carried over from past janmas and we may have to do something good in this area so that we try to burn the sins and not allow that to be carried over. Suppose a couple do not have a kid, then they could donate to anath asram or adopt children. If one does not get a job, he could try helping others in their job applications or even in suggesting them to apply and so on. If one is not getting married, he could start a free matrimonial site and help others get married. This is of course easier said than done. It is difficult to do a thing which u urself lack. It is like giving money to others when u are short of money. One should have strong mind and will power to do this and only then the karmas would be burnt easily. Otherwise suffering would be carried over just as the property carried over from parents to children and so on.

Hi Mathews
What is new karma then and how one knows he/she is doing new karma?
I think it is a good question but the answer is difficult. I would only say that we should not consciously develop new relationships with people, we should be careful to avoid entanglement. Also, we have to be pious and try to work as anything comes in our way. We should try to avoid people who come in our path and so on. We should avoid bad deeds like cheating, harming others, being too greedy, lazy etc.
They say that everyone who comes in our life has karmic connections, if that is so, then how we know we are meeting new people?
The first part seems true,. Yes we cannot find out we are meeting new people, if the connection with someone does not stop even with our genuine efforts, then it is karmic connection. If a new connection happens and we conciously break it, then it may be new and we are not falling trap to it.
Your questions are good. These are my answers.

Dance of the Divine is "Thoughtless"
So astrosonu ji , seems to me Aseem was actually talking to himself when he was talking to Mathews ?? only Aseem spells "common" that way .
. wonder how he has the patience to come up with so many Id's . Wish he would stop doing this and get back to analysing charts . Its a pity . Such a waste of good talent .
. If only he had used the same brains to analyse charts , instead of trying to destroy L.O.V.A.
