I have been receiving several mails from Forum members asking me to look into their charts and see if they have a yoga for "Renunciation " . To make things easy , I decided to write a Topic on the forum Itself . I will explain some of the improtant yogas connected with "Renunciation" here . Please look at your individual Horoscopes and see if you have this Yoga or not . You are the best judge of it's strength , for only you know what your priorities in life are .
Before I start I want to make one point very clear . What ever opinions I have about "Spirituality" , "Renunciation" and "Ascticism" are shapped in my own mind over a period of time . I have had the unique fortune to have met several men connected to the 3. I have met some people who have made it "Very Big " using the name of God . I shall recount my experiences here . The views I hold are my own . If I manage to offend anyone during the course of this thread , I beg forgiveness . Its is not my intention to cause hurt . I have in my quest to discover god , flirted with all models of Religion , including Atheism . I just wish to share a few of my experiences with all of you .

First of all , let me explain what "Spirituality" , "Renunciation" and "Ascticism" means .
Spirituality can refer to establishing a connection with the inner self enabling a person to discover the essence of their being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.†Spiritual practices, including meditation, prayer and contemplation, are intended to develop an individual's inner life; such practices often lead to an experience of connectedness with a larger reality, yielding a more comprehensive self; with other individuals or the human community; with nature or the cosmos; or with the divine realm.Spirituality is often experienced as a source of inspiration or orientation in life. It can encompass belief in immaterial realities or experiences of the immanent or transcendent nature of the world.
The common misconception is to mix Religion and Spirituality to define each other . . Both are seperate beings , but both need the other to survive ..... Kind of like a symbiotic relationship. (symbiotic means close and often long-term interactions between different (biological) species where one needs the other to florish and also to some extent , survive . Religion is nothing with out a sense of Spirituality and Spirituality is nothing without religion as a base . You can try to have a sense of spirituality within you , but since we are creatures who we need images and tangability to believe , Religion become a powerful tool to enhance spirituality . Religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of life and the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a supernatural agency, or human beings’ relation to that which they regard as holy, sacred, spiritual, or divine. Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life. They tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred lifestyle from their ideas about the cosmos and human nature.
The word religion is sometimes used interchangeably with faith or belief system, but religion differs from private belief in that it has a public aspect. Most religions have organized behaviors, including congregations for prayer, priestly hierarchies, holy places, and/or scriptures.
Note , Islam is one religion which shuns and opposes Images ( Idols ) But still use the Kaaba ( The Kaaba is a large masonry structure roughly the shape of a cube. It is made of granite from the hills near Mecca,) as a focal point for prayer . A devout Muslim has to face east to perform a prayer .)

Renunciation literally means , to reject, refuse, throw back, decline, turn down, and choose against a established form. This needs some explaination . Our society believes in A symbiotic relationship of sorts . We are what we are as a race today purely on the basis of a Civilized society . Societies focus is mainly on how "successful and powerful " a person can become amidst that society . Society measures the Sucess of a man on the basis of the "Luxuries " he can indulge in. We have created a material world , and a materialistic person is hailed as a success in our society . ( A Materialistic person is described as a person who is markedly more concerned with material things (such as money and possessions) rather than spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values. )

Asceticism Takes Spirituality and Renunciation to the extreme . It describes a lifestyle characterized by the aim of pursuing religious and spiritual goals using extreme measures . Some forms of Christianity (Monastic life) and the Indian religions teach that salvation and liberation involve a process of mind-body transformation affected by exercising maximum and extreme restraint with respect to actions of body, speech, and mind and food intake .The founders and earliest practitioners of these religions lived extremely austere lifestyles, refraining from sensual pleasures and the accumulation of material wealth . They believe that enjoyment of life is nothing , but recognise that spiritual and religious goals are impeded by such indulgence.

The Faqirs were wandering Dervishes teaching Islam and living on alms. The terms 'faqr' and faqir , in religious parameters, were first used in Islam by Prophet Muhammad. There are revelations of Quran in which this term was used. Many hadiths (quotations) in which Muhammad used terms 'faqr' and 'faqir' are very famous such as (faqr is my pride). Since Muhammad defined 'faqr' Muslim scholars and saints followed it and proud to be called 'Faqir'. 'Faqr' or 'faqir' are mostly used in Sufism or tasawwuf which is the most gallant feature of Islam.
The term has also been used to refer to Hindu and Buddhism ascetics (e.g., sadhus, gurus, swamis and yogis). These broader idiomatic usages developed primarily in Mughal era in India. There also a now a distinct caste of Faqir found in North India, descended from communities of faqirs who took up residence at Sufi shrines.}

People who Go to Shabri Male perform Spirituality and Renunciation for a limited period of time . My Guru Swamy is a Auto Driver by profession . He believes that the world revolves around Ayappa . He works from 8 in the morning to 7 in the evening . Does not drink , smoke or gamble . He has been a Guru swamy for 27 years now ( You become a Guru Swamy after visiting Shabrimala 18 times after performing abstinence for 48 days each time .) . He is blessed with one daughter , who he says is a Gift From Ayappa . ( they got here very late . She does not look any thing like the father and the mother . She does have a angelic look on her face .

He cannot be called a Ascetic because he is very much in the midst of society , contributing to it , But yet living a austure life , working only for his wife, his Old mother, His jobless brother and his child. This is a Borderline line case as we can see .

Shankaracharya was still a boy when he wanted to run away from home and take the Vows of Sannysa and enter a life of Renunciation . His mother naturally denied him permission to leave , thinking that her son would do nothing but Ramble around the world .
But Shankara was determined to leave and decided on a very specific course of action. He was sent into the world for a specific purpose of estblishing a sect and was born with certain Siddhis to assist him in his mission. One day when he went down to the banks of the river he used his siddhis to trick her . He created a illusory crocodile which gripped him firmly by the legs and began to drag him into the river .
Shankara then called out to his mother in mock fright as the fake crocodile tugged him down , Ma Ma save me he said , Give me permission to take Sannyasa and then I will be freed , otherwise I am doomed . You can only imagine the terror that struck the poor mother's heart , It was like a knife pushed through her chest and slowly rotated in her heart, She had no choice byut give him permission and off he went , free to complete his mission .
Such extraodinary souls are extinct today . Look at what happened to Jesus Christ 2011 years back . He merely claimed he was spreading God's words , And for that , he was nailed to death . In todays day , if Christ were to appear and say that he was the son of God , his parents would send him to a Physiatrist who would promptly evaluate that he is Schizophrenic and prescribe a strong dosage of "Prozac" . If he still persisted with his "Symptoms " he would have been institutionalised for life . Such is life today .

To escape from the path of a materialistic centric world is not easy . It requires Guts to shun the trappings of luxury, and the 5 pillars which are firmly entrenched into our mins by our parents, relatives and society , the 5 pillars being 1. Money 2. house 3. car 4. wife 5. children ( You cant make money without a good career to back you )

A shrikantha Yoga occurs when the Lord of the Lagna, the Sun, and the Moon occupy A kendra or a trine in their exaltation, own, or friendly Rashi's

As Far as renunciation is concerned ....... well I really dont know . The want is strong , The mind is willing , But the Body is not . It still craves for the life and the comfort It already has . I am partially renounced though , I am not married , Never will , No kids . 50 PCT of the job is done . . these In my opinion are the 2 biggest stumbling blocks in the path of renunciation . 
A shrikantha Yoga occurs when the Lord of the Lagna, the Sun, and the Moon occupy A kendra or a trine in their exaltation, own, or friendly Rashi's
The native will be Magnanimous, Virtuous, a powerful devotee of lord Shiva , who will refrain from Belittling the religious beliefs of other people. Such a person will be decked with a Rudraksha rosary, His body will be whitened with holy ash and will renunce the world's pleasures .

I feel that this Yoga can click only when Guru is in a Good condition and the Moon should be unblemished . In my Horoscope Ravi is in exaltation in the 4th, Chandra is in lagna, and the lagna lord is in his friendly Sign in a Trikona , unblemished . ( Kuja who is conjunct with Chandra is a Badaka lord ) . I Feel the 5th and the 9th lord need to be strong too . (This is why I have not mentioned the Kendras when I quoted the important houses for Spirituality . )
However,
I am Magnanimous to a point , not Virtuous in the least, a power devotee of Lord Shiva without any doubt, I never belittle any religion but draw freely from them, I do wear a Rudraksha Mala now and then ( But dont most of the time because I love to drink ) and I do smear Vibhuthi on my Body . Saraswati Yoga
If Guru, Budha, and Shukra is in the 1st,2nd,4th,7th,10th,5th,and the 9th, and Jointly or Individually a Saraswati Yoga is caused, Provided Guru is in his exalted, Moolatrikona, own, or friendly sign ( More weightage for Exaltation ) . In short, when Shukra, Budha, and Guru are in the 2nd, a kendra or a Kona , and If Guru is strong , then the person is endowed with a Saraswati Yoga.
The individual with this Yoga will be well versed in the Scriptures, the Shastras, intelligent, and praised by all . He will be skilled as a writer, orator and a savant.

Nice article and one more thing that we should also consider that benefics if placed in the 3rd and 6th house would make the native go towards the spirituality and if the same house are having malefics then he would use all his force and be at the back of money.
In the same way the 3rd and 6th from Aurdha lagna should be seen. AL is an illusion hence it is very important to check as to how the society feels about this native. Because based on this only (the illusion) other would fall behind the person as they feel that either this native has money or no money. hence Illusion also pays a very important role. Based on this illusion itself we get loans from the banks even though from the actual point of view we do not that much capacity to pay the loans
In my case if you see the 5th is house of knowledge and it is Dhanus and the lord Jupiter is placed in the 12th house which is the house of moksha and meditation. I think around the time when I was 15 years old I suddenly changed and started thinking about god and his existence. Prior to that I used to care a damn by the word god. I used to ask myself who is this person called god and where is he. Till the age of 15 years I was the most dreaded person in my school. I never hesitated to kick people on their butts and doing the mistake by myself I used to blame others. Now after the age of 15 years till now (44 years) there is total change in my life.I started praying god and do meditation and am happy may not be from material point of view but yes from spiritual point of view. My friends say that whatever I say would become true hence they are scared to talk to me.
My D-9 also have Jupiter which made me lurk into astrology without any guru at my disposal to enlighten me.
The aspect of Mars, rahu has made me turn violent. I used to never care for my father and we used to have lot of fights and the extent of using hands also. But now I feel how important is the word father is after the death of my father.
The reason why I am writing this is that we are destined and we have to live with it. Whether we like it or not. But always ensure that praying to god with whatever way you can would definitely change your life for good. After 40 years I started feeling happy and my spirituality even increased more.
Jupiter placed in the 12th house is the best combination and that too exalted. I gives me a very good sleep which I never experienced in my life till the age of around 37-40 years. . I was scared to sleep and used to get up in the midnights. I used to cry sleeping in the bed itself.The combinations in my chart tells you all why These are all our karmas which we have to reap in this life.That was the terrible life which I had to undergo till the age of 40 years.

Vipareeta jñÄna Yoga occurs If Guru is placed in his exaltation Sign along with Chandra, Shani is in Vrishabha Rashi, Ravi and Budha are in the 9th house And Kuja is in his own house in the 12th house.
The native will be well versed in the scriptures, is a good astrologer, will always speak about God, will redefine the meaning of classical texts and write many books on the subject connected with the divine. he Will always meditate and contemplate on the divine .

Its as if someone with a fertile imagination sat up one night and conjured it up . However he convinced me that he has actually seen this combination in a horoscope and the effects were well exhibited. ( I took that story with a bucket full of salt )
The yoga looks delicious on the face of it , but the improbability of it occuring has prompted me to place it down the list. The lagna has to be only Vrishabha because Kuja get's the 12th house only when the lagna is vrishabha . There is another obstacle, a budha adithya yoga must occur in the 9th house. This clearly indicates that the lagna has to be Vrishabha. Straight away you can see how rare this yoga is going to be . the sheer beauty of the yoga lies in the fact that Shani in the lagna aspects Guru and chandra . Guru who owns the 11th and the 8th ( 11th is the house of Jyotishya and the 8th is the recitation of Mantras ) sits in the 3rd house of writing and communication. This guru aspects the 4th lord Ravi and the 2nd and the 5th lord Budha ( 2nd is the house of classical and traditional learning ). Kuja the 12th lord of renunciation aspects Chandra and Shani . Whats more, Shani sits in the lagna and aspects the 10th house of Karma. A beautiful combination , In fact a dream combination . I have dwelt on this yoga for long, But have never come across it ever. Its almost as if someone has come up with a dream combination to aid Spirituality .
Lord Shani moved into Vrishabha on the 29th of April 1971 and stayed there till june 10th 1973 . In the Meanwhile Guru was in Makara . So this combination was not possible to achieve in the seventies. The next time Shani moved to Vrishabha was on june 7th 2000 Guru was in Vrishabha then . The closest combination I could get was on the 12th of july 2002 . But this is no where close to the yoga described above . This goes to show that if the combination does occur then surely we are looking at another divine avatar in our midst . Only a exalted soul can be born with the above combination. And definitely not in my lifetime .

(pari+ita) means " gone around " .
The prefix " vi " is a versatile one with many shades of meaning. The word " vipareeta " means " specially gone around " and it means " reversed " . It is used in many meanings today
(including " extreme " ), but the original meaning was " reversed " or " contrary " .
So vipareeta yogas show struggle and a sudden reversal. They can also great success and again a reversal. They need not always be " undesirable " . But they will always come with
some kind of reversal.

Satvika Prakriti Yoga
This yoga occurs when Budha is conjunct with the Benefic 3rd lord, or is aspected by a benefic 3rd lord. Budha should own good houses and should be placed well .

Sounds simple enough, might be easy to find the combination but the rider to the yoga ( budha should own good houses ) makes it tough to find . The 3rd lord when a benefic always leads one to think with a pious mind without any evil thoughts for any one . Budha is the planet who is the significator for discrimination when conjunct or aspected by a benefic will never go to the path of mischief . If the benefic and Budha are strong, then the yoga gains depth .
Why I have included this simple yoga is that, a Satvik life is most important for Spirituality. Satvik food and deeds go a long way to enhance the spiritual experience. Remember, This yoga need to be fueled by other yoga's which promote Renunciation. Having this yoga as a stand alone is of no use to anyone .

Dharmadhyaksha Yoga,
1.Should Guru or shukra be in exaltation Vargas or benefic Vargas, or should the 9th lord by associated with or aspected by the benefics then the yoga formed is called Dharmadhyaksha yoga.
2. If Guru in the 9th is aspected by Ravi and Shani, or If guru placed in the 9th is aspected by Chandra and Shani ...... provided Ravi and Chandra should not be conjoined with Shani , rather he cast his 3rd aspect on Guru or be in a Trikona to Guru the the same yoga occurs
The native will be the head of some sect, religious order or be a authority on religious subjects. The person will be abound with moral excellence and be wise and be in possession of many villages.
