Dear Astrosonu, Ramanan and others:
Kindly let me know the parihara for retrograde budha. Is it Vishnu Sahasranama chanting? It is my 8th and 11th lord though exalted in navamsa and svashetra in dasamsa and is also atmakaraka. It is with other 6 planets in 3rd house in rasi.
Thanks,
Dev

Dear Devji:
Yes Shri Vishnu Sahasranaam is the best. With retrogade motion, this has to be done continuously, to be effective. Also undertake Ekadashi fasts. These will help you very much.

Devji - Puranas state that anyone between the age of 8-80 must keep Ekadashi fasting without taking anything. In all other fasts, one time meal is allowed, but not in Ekadashi. but the Puranas also state that one above the age of 30 can take meals in the evening. these meals include Fruits, milk and nuts as allowed ingredients. the way I do is I have Vrat related food. i.e. Farari as we call in Gujrat. I take meals twice a day but not grains and vegetables etc.. but only Vrata related food. In Ekadashi Grains, pulses, wheat, rice etc is a strict no no. It is in these grains that the Rakshas hide on this day and consumption, increases the tamas in the body.

Dear Dev
Complete fasting needs some practice. Initially I would advise you to fast the whole day and in the night you can have some fruits and milk if you like.
With warm regards

Dear Sonu:
Yes, I have around 3 or so, they are all got from my father, he must have got from my grandfather. My father was very orthodox, though an IAS Collector, he was having sikha and doing regular gayatri japa 3 times a day. Unfortunately I lost my grandfather when I was 8 and my father when I was 9 and my grandmother before I was born.
I will send u a mail but pl send me the sanskrit lyrics, since I know sanskrit and want to chant with correct pronunciation.
Thank you,
Dev

Dear Dev:
I am so pleased to hear about your lineage. It does give you a great platform for spirituality. 3 Saligrams in the house. I want to hear more sir. What are these three saligrams ? How do you worship and what special measures do you undertake for Saligram ? I have heard it requires a stricter routine than most other poojas.
Hope I am not asking too much.
Yes I will email you the PDF as soon as I receive your email.

Dear Sonu:
Thank you. I sent you the email already. Actually one is Krishna, other two my mother told me but I forgot. I lost her also long back. Actually, I am nowhere near my father and grand father and I dont do sincerely and strictly as they did. One of the reasons may also be because I lost him when I was 9 and I was the youngest in family. I did not do anything after my upanayanam except for doing sandhyavandan somewhat regularly initially and now too. In between I could not do due to circumstances. Some one year back, I washed them with raw cow milk, water and then put tulsi leaves on them and kept some kismiss for them. Now I am just putting tulsi leaves in the saligram box and then put some kismiss there.
Anyway, all my relatives are gone, and so I am doing the simplest of pooja that I know. Actually I should be doing more. The only thing is I sing keertans on Rama, Vishnu, Krishna and other Gods.
I know slokas well because of knowing sanskrit well but am not very conversant with these ritualistic prayers.

Dear Dev:
Sorry to hear about this. Do not worry. Although Lord loves the vidhis, but in the circumstances beyond control, only the bhava sails us through. He is karunasagar. So, not to worry. I shall try and find out the Saligrama vidhi for you. I have sent you the Tulsi Stotra.

Dear Astrosonu:
Yes, thank you. Yes, I dont worry because my father had planned upanayanam for me and then he passed away. So it was not in my hands, then the upanayanam was delayed for too long since we did not have many relatives from both father's and mother's side. So I dont worry too much about this and do the simplest way I can. I appreciate your inputs which are very valuable and also of others well versed in all this.
I was told by some vedic pandits that I should atleast place tulsi leaves on them even if I dont do the regular mantra called aradhanakrama. I can do it, it is available in the net but then it is better to learn from a guru before doing it, that is my strong feeling.

Dear Ramanan,
There is no doubt that Shri Vishnu Stotras have capability to ward off evils due to any other planet. Yes, I get your point about placement in Mars houses and Mars conjunction. It can make mercury comfortable in its house with the prayers. After all, Mercury also stands for Shri Vishnu. Thanks for bringing this up.
