This post talks about the various ethnic groups ruled by different planets.

Indians as a whole are ruled by Saturn. Saturn is the natural ruler of the 11th and the 10th. It is also the main significator for the 8th and 12th and an important specialized significator for the 6th. It is Digbala in the 7th.

Indians love to make friends with people from all over the world. They also thirst for knowledge (11th being 8th to the 4th) and for some, can rise very high in corporations. Spiritualism is very important to a Hindu Indian but mysticism also fascinates them. Hindu Indians as a whole view non-Hindus as outcastes ruled by Rahu and within their group, there is a caste system last time which now still translates as a high hierarchical consciousness (as determined by the castes of the various planets). Some Indians can rise to great heights in corporations and they are experts in setting up trading infrastructure for international trade to get moving (Saturn is exalted in 7th as opposed to Caucasians which as a whole are ruled by Jupiter, natural ruler of the 9th, most MNCs are from western countries).

It is unfortunate that Brahma is not worship in India that much resulting in most Indians to be quite unaware of most spiritual knowledge.

No menial task is too below for an Indian to undertake. As far as they are concerned, any job comes with a salary, and this is what gives one sustenance in life. Indian society accords high priority to alms giving and philanthropic endeavours. Most Indians do not give high accord to government officials but for those who happen to be in the government service, they usually hold high positions (Sun and Saturn combination denotes government service although it may lead to a fall from position).

Science comes under Saturn and computer scientists come under Rahu which has connections with Saturn. A lot of computer scientists are Indians. Indians value truth above all else and they are experts in ferreting out whether a person is telling the truth or not. They are generally detached people if not unduly influenced by outside prejudicial opinions and give great counsel. They are partial to people who have pleasing manners and good social etiquette (Venus can overpower Saturn in a chart generally).

Diseases especially those involving ingestion of food usually befalls Indians. But generally some Indians also have great longevity.

By the way Singapore’s Finance Minister is an Indian and the Education Minister, Iswaran Subramaniam, is also an Indian and he happens to be my classmate in secondary schools. However, in primary schools, I top him in the Primary School Leaving Examinations and he was curious to find out who I was at that time.

Indians can amass power if given the authority, but sometimes the misuse may be there as Saturn can be a power grabber under certain planetary patterns. But this is few and far between and most Indians make good project leaders and fill up high executive positions comfortably.

Chinese as a whole are ruled by Venus. Venus is the natural ruler of the 2nd and the 7th. It is also the main significator for the 7th and an important specialized significator for various houses – all of which are personal houses : the 1st to the 6th. It is Digbala in the 4th.

Chinese care only about their immediate family. Very few are involved in philanthropic work. If any difficult social situation arises, they will decide on a matter that is most expeditious at that moment so they only try to safeguard themselves. But on the plus side they see the views of all parties in a situation and they are not unduly harsh or judgemental in their opinions of other people.

Chinese live up to their financial circumstances (2nd house) and they will give the appropriate effect in society and dress it up even if their financial circumstances do not permit (Venus and the 7th). Chinese take care of themselves and they prize their home more than other ethnic groups. They are the ones that is most likely to have their extended family living under one roof.

The Chinese are the best mathematicians in the world (but not of the inventive kind like the Arabs who invented the numerals or the Greeks who give input to the theory of numbers). Venus in the 1st usually denote a person who is good at mathematics.

Singaporean Chinese are always top in Mathematics competition in the world beating even the US compatriots.

The way the Chinese do trade is through guan xi (business relationships). They seldom use any business expertise or technology which comes under the fold of Mercury. Whatever profits they earn, they spend it, seldom in further investing in the business like branching out to other areas. Wherever in the world where money can be made, you can find the Chinese. It is just like Venus signifying heirloom – some special niche where benefits can be obtained.

Caucasians as a whole are ruled by Jupiter. Jupiter is natural ruler of the 9th and the 12th, Digbala in the 1st and significator for the 2nd, 5th, 9th and the 11th. The 9th to 11th of Jupiter has important meaning for Jupiter and these houses occur in the zenith of the chart.

Caucasians are generally kind people – our Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew always say this of the western democratic countries. They never start an armed conflict unless to defend some high moral dogma or to defend or to assist a weak party from an aggressor. Human rights figure very prominently in the minds of a westerner. They are also highly aesthetic – Jupiter has an overall ruler of the senses. They love the arts – this is tied to the sign Pisces where Venus is exalted and Jupiter is the natural ruler.

The Western philosophy can be spiritual but different from Eastern philosophy. For example, their philosophy of religion talk about free will, ontology viewpoint of God, cosmology viewpoint of God, determinism etc. Jupiter ruling the western countries give good infrastructure there and it also has a framework for the protection of knowledge – the Intellectual Property Rights. They have all the amenities for the citizen in case they are out of work – Jupiter is a sustainer of the human life being exalted in Cancer.

MNCs are from Western countries and Caucasians love to do things in a big way and they believe in investment in a business. All financial instruments originate from western countries.

The Pacific and other ocean islanders in the tropical belt are ruled by the Moon. The Moon rules the 4th and is digbala there and natural ruler of the 4th. It is a significator also for wealth and fortune.

The rituals practised by these countries have connections with the family and home like the girl reaching puberty and hence suitable to be wed, the boy reaching manhood and hence can participate in being the breadwinner of the family etc. These countries’ fortune waxes and wanes like the Moon. They can be swept off by tsunamis at a moment’s notice. Travellers who want a cosy feeling for their holidays would do well to visit these countries. They make you feel welcome like giving you a garland of flowers once you step off from the plane. They are experts in juices and semi-alcoholic drinks to refresh you while you relax by the seaside.

A lot of peddlers feature in these countries selling all kinds of miscellaneous home cooked food. People are generally warm and friendly and very personable unlike other continental countries.

The Himalyan region set of countries comes under the rulership of Ketu. Their material progress lacks behind their spiritual progress many fold although in recent times, there is some unexpected progress in the material plane – all characteristics of Ketu. They value their ethnic origin highly (more so than even Hindus) and their dressing and education reflect that. For example, children in Bhutan or Nepal (I forgot which one precisely) have to wear their ethnic costumes when attending schools and they are taught all the topics that help them identify as being one of the country’s national. This is because Ketu rules the flag. The other meaning is that these countries are never conquered by outsiders with the exception of Tibet under China – but Tiber is the country least likely to be associated with Ketu.

Important world spiritual figures come from these countries (not astrologers) like the Dalai Laama.

South American countries come under Rahu. The countries generally are morally bankrupt and in recent years, a lot of the countries go into financial collapse – Rahu’s benefits are shortlived. They are ruled by dictators who are also charismatic leaders. In earlier times, a lot of the citizens were beheaded for minor transgressions – Rahu rules beheading of the head. The countries there are always in a tussle with regards to their boundary lines as Rahu wants more space (India with Pakistan is somewhat similar as Rahu and Saturn are related). Mafia, illegal trade etc. all features highly in South American countries. They eat riots for breakfast and earthquakes are also a common feature (Rahu is linked to Mercury via the mind and Mercury rules earthquakes).

The flora and fauna of the South American countries are unorthodox and can only found in that region except sharing some common similarity with the Himalayan countries (Rahu and Ketu has some things in common). The geographical landscape is dry (just like Rahu) and the fauna there can sometimes be rather poisonous. If one were to die there, your body may be eaten by vultures – Rahu gives you no peace even after death.

The various tribes in the world are also ruled by Rahu. Up until recent times, some even practice cannabilism. Blood, snakes and poison feature prominently in their rituals.

The Eastern European countries comes under Venus and Saturn. These two planets cause the coutries to swing from right to left and vice versa often with disastrous results. The economy totters because Saturn restricts while Venus lavishes. In a chart, if Venus is found together with Saturn in angles, the person usually does not have a righteous path guiding him all the way leading to incarceration either literally (eg. imprisonment) or metaphorically (suffer at the hands of unjustified enmity). Venus being enemy to Sun and Jupiter and Saturn also enemy to Sun and can eclipse Jupiter, means there is a lack of dharma in these countries.

The Scandinavian countries come under Mars. They are descended from the lineage of warriors. In recent years because the elliptic progression has gone into Aquarius (Tropical Sign) and since it is ruled by Saturn (enemy of Mars) and a karmic planet, their warrior nature has lessened. Still their rituals and pagan festivals usually show clearly their past warrior lineage.

Most of the populace are atheists – they do not believe in God. Their attendance in Church is low.

They are highly intelligent and logical people and each country is famous for certain things like Finland for distillation of water, Sweden for the manufacturing of cars, Norway for its barges etc. The layout of their cities and supermarkets is ultra-efficient – a Swede buying wine from a wne shop can do the automatic checking out himself.

On the more mundane side, Denmark is a red light country because of the influence of Mars. Other Scandinavian countries also have things like sauna and they do not mind swimming naked – Mars exalted in Capricorn and Capricorn is the sign most dealing with nakedness.

Greece is ruled by the Sun. Political ideas originate from Greece like democracy and citizen rights. It is a rather hot country and thank god it happened to be posited by the sea. The Sun being natural ruler of the 5th which denotes children, shows the geographical layout of Greece, small islands spread out from the Greece mainland. The woman is a second class citizen in the household of Greece although in recent times also lessened because as I said the elliptic progression has moved to Aquarius (Tropical Sign) and Saturn is an enemy of the Sun. For example, during family get-together, they can only cook in the kitchen and not doing the BBQing which is reserved for the men. They generally also cannot start eating until the males have done so and I believe until recently, males sit separately from the females. The Greeks do love hot food.

USA has a special affinity with Mercury (besides Jupiter for Caucasians). It is a place where the media holds centre stage whether graphics media or the tabloid – the country that gives us the Last Tower, Jurassic Park and Avatar. Scandalous gossips feature prominently in USA – unlike Hong Kong where the tabloids usually talk about sex and love affairs (under Venus).

Talk shows are common in the USA – talk to your death! Broadcasting holds a solid niche in the society of the US. Although Venus rules cars, Mercury deals with cars as a device to reach from one place to another speedily enhancing the transportative network of the country. The US citizens love sports cars which epitomizes the speed of going from one place to another.

I must add that the Himalayan region countries under Ketu, the flora and fauna although is similar with that of the South American countries under Rahu, the former is more of a volcanic region as befits Ketu. The latter as already mentioned is a dry region eg. the Andes in South American where rainfall cannot be had for weeks.

By the way when I talk about Caucasians as a whole ruled by Jupiter, I exclude the East European countries.

Also now with the Aquarian Age (eliptic progression has gone into this Tropical Sign - I know Vedic has its own progression theory but I am more familiar with the progression by Tropical Sign which deals with world progress in general (eg. witness the rise of computers under Aquarius) and not based on sub-cycles within cycles as in Vedic which has its own separate set of purposes), the countries in Ascendance would be :

USA - because of Mercury
China - because of Venus
Singapore - because Venus rules multi-ethnicity ie. the colours of the rainbow
India - because of Saturn
South America - surprisingly because of Rahu

Britain not so much because Britain comes under Aires just like the Scandinavian countries.

The Himalayan countries surprisingly also would progress even more slowly because of Ketu as Ketu is not a friend of Saturn.

People as a whole would also be more spiritual because of eliptic progression into Aquarius ruled by Saturn.

Caucasian countries as a whole would not progress as fast as the East Asian countries since one is ruled by Jupiter and the other by Venus like Thailand, Vietnam etc. Jupiter is neutral to Saturn but Venus is best friend with Saturn.

Muslim countries come under Pisces (or Neptune - but Vedic does not consider Neptune as an important planet for consideration). Pisces is ruled by Jupiter so Muslim countries would also not progress as much as East Asian countries.

Note also for SPECIFIC COUNTRIES chart, I am referring to Tropical Sign like Aires for Britain and Gemini for USA. Tropical signs tend to show the countries' external characteristics more clearly than Vedic signs but Vedic signs are used to analyse a country's mundane affairs. But for India and Singapore, when I make the delineation on progress, it is based more on the ethnic composition rather than the specific countries' charts.

Dear Khoo,

A well informative post. It is really nice to see your different topic which many astrologers don't touch at all.

Some differences i find though.

Like Muslim countries/Middle east--- u assign pisces whereas IMO it may be saggitarius, a war sign. There is great violence and anger is too deeply imbedded in them. Even women of this region are find to be extremely arrogant. I can vouch this becoz having lived here for 14 years!

Chinese , I fully agree of having venus qualities and IMO of Libra sign . Well balanced , a quality might have imbibed in their collective mind thro Leaders like Confucius, Lao Tzu, Chuang Tzu .... It is very sad that after communism took over many of those qualities might have been lost!

It is so true that Indians are of of saturn nature! That too of Capricorn nature, on extreme negative side hypocrisy,poverty and on positive side dedication,hard work .....( very few of Aquarius, like CV Raman, Jagdish Chandra Bose,Ramanujam and other nobel prize winning scientists)

Jupiter for scandinavian natives and Rahu for south Americans is also agreeable seeing their nature.But which zodiac sign can be?

For that, I think it is better to separate countries and then see, like Spain for Taurus (for sex and bull fight?!) France for Libra (erotic arts,classic cinemas) not scorpio as violence is not to be found much in them. Britain for Aries is fully applicable as their Mars nature has conquered whole world at one point of time!

And for Russia I feel Aquarius is a proper sign as great chess players, innovative scientists and many relatively unknown but extremely intelligent persons like Delgado who coined " law of association" and Kirlian for his "Kirlian Photography"!!!!!

Ketu for Tibet etc is also right which denotes extreme spirituality along with Black magic!!
