Is Public sector the answer?

I am from a well to do family, Many members from my family have worked at respectable positions in the govt.
I never gave it a serious thought till now. I am going to fill the stenographer exam form conducted by SSC this week. and work my way up to CBI and UPSC. (this is my last chance).
I can't tell you what personal problems I have faced but I have had quite a bunch.
Please help me by providing me no nonsense (sugar coated) info if I can do any good in my life in the Govet. sector.
