I have always believed that my horoscope is good if not excellent. Deep combustion by Sun notwithstanding, 5 planets in the 10th & 11th and the other two in 5th with Rahu in 3rd seemed like a decent chart. Of course there was nothing happening in reality to suggest this was anywhere near true. Recently got to know about the Astakavarga system from an old post by astroduffer and checked mine in Jhora. To my surprise found that 6th, 8th and 12th had all high points. Lagna has a low score of 24 and 12th has higher points(30) than 25 each in 10th and 11th:( .. Assuming I have interpreted this correctly, not sure if there is anything to be done from my side to rectify the situation. While the Rasi shows planets in upachaya and kona, ashtakavarga(SAV) shows an altogether different picture. What is frustrating is that 6th lord Venus as ascendant lord and 12th lord Mars as the 7th lord seem to be doing the damage. It seems the dusthana's are getting strengthened!! Someone rightly mentioned that Taurus could be one of the worst lagnas as the mooltrikonas become dusthanas.
Could anyone throw more light on above observation please?

First don't put yourself down because of your chart and lagna. There are other such points of view to consider, such as arudha lagna, surya lagna, chandra Lagna, and navamsa lagna. Good is bound to found somewhere in the chart. Try looking at your chart from atmakaraka or paka lagna. Keep it simple, dont focus so much on ashtakavarga.
These Dushtanas may be bad from janma lagna, but can switch to good houses and position when seen from an alternate lagna. The zodiac always churns, not static.

Sure. Different ways of looking however in my observation planets distributed across signs is a good thing. Sort of divides the good and bad effects. No planets occupy the fire signs in my rasi which itself is something to note perhaps. Ketu is in 12th from Atmakaraka with exalted Moon(amatyakaraka)in Navamsa. Ketu in 12th from Atmakaraka(Moksha) and benefic with it means heaven. So heaven and moksha both(Wow) per Jaimini. There are several combinations for Moksha per Parashara guess.. But who knows what is in store in afterlife. Better to make it worthwhile while still here.

Feb 2015.. resigned from job to get 3 months notice as buffer and search for another. Got a better job at much better package and joined in June 2015. No damage, in fact betterment here although had to move to a new location(within India).
Did not like new job environment including manager and some peers. Got along very well with team. Manager(incompetent but very political) played spoilsport and made several senior people redundant to ensure own promotion. Had to resign on May 8th and served last working day the same week on 12th!.. I was under the impression that they would try to retain me but got to know after quitting that it was politics and also that market is poor in general. Termination by India manager was very very abrupt(most people got two months to serve) as I was on better terms with manager in U.S. and my India manager did not like them or me. Received two months severance package though. As i hated the job anyway, i did not mind the loss much. Am confident in my skills however nothing materialized yet. Another problem is I am still single so both job and marriage is an open question now. All the time I was employed and nothing happened on the marriage front anyway. I am proud though over how I have carried myself so far. Not much depressed considering the magnitude of bad events. Perhaps because I always keep myself busy reading/understanding about something.
Also trying to make sense of Trimsamsa with many planets focused in 1,7(Jupiter) and 8th(Mercury & Moon).
Rahu in scorpio in Navamsa makes me interested in occult guess though I would rather focus on being a karma yogi and manifesting desires through positive thinking, daily affirmations and concentrated efforts.
One astrologer said I am dull in my own work perhaps due to lack of fire signs as mentioned above. I am hellbent on proving him wrong somehow:)... Low astakavarga score of lagna says I would need others help to come up in life(some website interpretation) but I have seen these scores can be random as well. So, well nothing worth studying further and breaking head on. Might as well focus on the work in hand and road ahead.

Ok.. but wouldn't 5th & 10th exchange make it parivartan raj yoga? Also saw in a popular youtube channel that Saturn in virgo can give results similar to exalted saturn (in libra) but that was per the uploaders personal experience.
Moon causes ups and downs. Agreed. However exalted in namvamsa. Though ketu is with it, it is in very low degrees means moon ought to have the upper hand. Correct?

Looks to be 8-11 lord's (Jupiter) aspect ( both Lagna & Navamsa) giving you breaks.Even Mer-Ven period would have been tough for you,since venus is exalted,the situation could have been managed..Me-Sun period could have been some litigation related,Me-Mar relationship related breaks...
Saturn related sub periods may provide job/changes..Mar'18 period or from Oct'18 situation may improve.

My dear radi-horoscopes never lies.Based on your SAV points,you are down to earth person but the thing that spoils this trait is more points in 3rd-6th-12th.you like to plan your work in a highway[3rd]and you plan well also.coming to your hard work[6th],you work hardly on your planned subject too but while coming to your output of those 3+6 houses,you are failing[less points in 10th].It means a lot for management.It denotes you are explain the work and how to execute it in words or on paper very well but coming to practical application,you are not able to give what you talked or put on the paper.so you are good at theory and bad in practical application of things.you are a hard worker but not an intelligent worker.Managements need the second category people.

On the contrary, I consider myself bit lazy, not hard working. A saying goes - "I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it"
.. And doing things the easy way is what management does. I fit perfectly there:) and considered resourceful & clever by those who know me properly.. I work hard as well when required but more inclined towards being as productive as possible. Jokes apart, I tried to look into the root cause of this laziness I feel by checking thyroid problems, anaemia etc. Laziness in the sense I feel tired pretty soon, do not feel energetic, not into sports, outdoor activities etc. as much I wish I were. No problems from the medical reports however. From rasi chart highly combust mars could be an explanation or else the curse which I cover below.Whatever that paper-pen explanation(joking) you wrote is incorrect unfortunately. Rather it is disagrements with boss that have been a constant problem with me since my first job. Somehow I never get along fully with my bosses. To be successfull in career, one has to have a polished/moderate attitude towards everything. No matter how nice the job is, I find some way to be upset with the bosses or situation in general due to inner frustration/emotional block. This is not good because what I lost was a very well paying high-profile job (note moon mercury in 10th both well placed in Navamsha).I myself know about this drawback of mine and always make efforts to correct this behavior. But perhaps it is the curse that makes me 'forget' what happened in the past and get angry and spoil my own case every single time. I make this inference because even in scriptures those under a curse meet with unfortunate unexplicable situations- Maharathi Karna 'forgetting' how to invoke astras, getting killed by a simple arrow etc. Krishna's and other's curses had similar effect. Quite interesting to read such stuff:)
Even though I am in dire straits without a job, wife, friends, family life and also turning 37 next month, I am myself surprised that I am indifferent to the situation. I got nothing at present, so what is there to worry really?:) Perhaps the strong karakamsha is a reason (soul strength)?
I strongly feel Rahu in scorpio in the natural 8th position in navamsa will turn my life upside down(downside up as is the case now) for the better.

You brought Jupiter into the picture. Well an astrologer in my native mentioned about the curse after which I researched online and observed that it is possible that Jupiter(Brahman) is the cause. I am not much convinced with the curse theory though as many differ over retrogession & debilitation combination of planets etc. Note that Jupiter-Mars involved in parivartana in navamsa and Saturn retro & debilitated in aries(Exalted per some) would make both Jupiter and Saturn strong. Similar cases Amitabh Bachchan with retro shani in 4th rasi chart(Taurus ) and Roger Federer with saturn debilitated in Aries navamsa(mars with it making possible neechabhanga as navamsa lagna not clear)..
One thing I noticed is that whenever a celebrity/big shot with a bad astrological placement per BPHS or other standard texts seems to have an excellent life, then that placement becomes an exception to the rule in the sense that websites say sometimes many planets in 8th can also be good as in Mr bachchan's case. This is something which prevents me from having complete faith in astrology and astrologers despite having a genuine curiosity. Also no two astrologers give the same reading for the same chart. There is always some difference of opinion possibly due to Shiva's curse on the astrologer's. Surprising how mythology always has a story for each and everything!

I got a job in October 2017 in the USA but again things fell through as I did not get a visa to start work. I have approached everyone possible for an opportunity but nothing has worked.
As a result, I am now separated from family (had to send them back to India). Wife is stricken by bad health and kids' schooling has stopped due to our financial situation.
While recruiters have expressed interest in my skills, things go silent when the visa issue comes up. No response from any recruiter in India.

I was told that Feb 2018 will be a good time and I will definitely land a job (though not of my liking) but nothing happened. First of all,I would like to say,don't rely too much on Ashtakavarga.According to me,Ashtakavarga is a system in astrology only reliable for transit predictions and it has nothing to do with natal chart placements or points obtained by each houses at the time of birth.

But,this is not the truth.His 11th house only have 27 points and 10th house also with 27 points added to that,12th house have 31 points which is greater than 11th house and 10th house.Another interesting thing here is his 5th house which represents Intelligence and Luck have only 19 points.So how come a less intelligent person become the richest guy in the world and that too a college drop out !

Correct on Moksha. Think it was ketu in water signs which assures of Moksha not otherwise. However, in my chart, Ketu is in the 12th from AK in both D-1 & D-9. While AmatyaKaraka moon is with AK in rasi, it simply moves backwards to be with ketu in navamsa.
I checked few saved horoscopes in Jhora. For Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi, ketu is nowhere near the 12th. Then there are few highly evolved souls like Ramakrishna Paramahansa for whom AK and Ketu are together. It would have been good to see horoscope examples showing Ketu in 12th and final emancipation. Would be hard to prove this theory though

A lot of people have admitted to not knowing how to use it and I had posted whatever I could learn in some other post. If it were to be used only for transits then there would have been no need for the SAV chart. Everything has its place just that the knowledge is hidden from us and not properly known. Also SAV results cannot be considered conclusive unless the main chart shows promise. As you might know any incident should be confirmed through 2-3 different approaches ex. SAV, Navamsa, D-10 etc etc to be able to say with surety that such and such thing will happen. SAV is the easiest way to look at things for someone who doesn't want to go through rasi chart, aspects and all. But it cannot be interpreted without looking for supporting evidence elsewhere.

By analyzing Sarvashtakavarga Chart of many people,I am not at all satisfied with that.So,I just want to say,if a system of astrology gives accurate results then,there is nothing wrong in using that irrespective of its origin or else just ignore it.
Ashtakavarga is Simple Mathematics,And there is a fair chance of translation mistakes.
Anyways,The Sarvashtakavarga chart we calculate is not the same as Sage Parashara used to calculate.

By analyzing Sarvashtakavarga Chart of many people,I am not at all satisfied with that.So,I just want to say,if a system of astrology gives accurate results then,there is nothing wrong in using that irrespective of its origin or else just ignore it.
Ashtakavarga is Simple Mathematics,And there is a fair chance of translation mistakes.
Anyways,The Sarvashtakavarga chart we calculate is not the same as Sage Parashara used to calculate.

Thread was about analysing curses. Somehow discussion started on SAV.
Long story short check 11th from AL, 11th from biggest benefic Jupiter and also 11th from current MD to understand SAV. Also D2, D10 etc also have their SAV's. This is something I saw in KRS videos.. He is not an expert per se but learns from people who are.

I gave detailed account of job loss as per your question. Can you please let me know what could have caused this in the first place? I am at a loss figuring out the reason here. Shani is 9th+10th lord and yogakaraka so a benefic. It is not sade-sati, no kantak shani yet and even Saturn moving to 8th sagittarius in January 2017 is very good for Taurus lagna per some.
I had resigned on the 8th of May 2017 and last working day was same week 12th of May 2017(Sun & Venus both exalted that week.) It was hell as the normal notice period is of 2 months. At least 6-7 people were laid off by my boss who incidentally got promoted for doing this
Oh yeah, you get promoted for cutting costs.Most who left are now in a job. Whereas I, with the strong ascendant lord in 11th house, am struggling! If it is not shani after all, it is a different thing. But one thing to add - not sure if it is typical laziness attributed to Taurus lagna or some divine support that is backing me- I am surprisingly calm(at most times). My friend(3 years older to me) broke down immediately when he heard the news about my job loss. I cannot figure out what to do with this passing time after all the frustration of fake employers that I have been giving interviews to.
On a general note, the IT industry is in general going through a rough patch. Not everyone will be able to get back to the same level of employment as earlier. Hopefully God has a plan for all.
