"A man born here (Capricorn Ascendant) may become involved with an older woman"

For a Capricorn ascendant, the 7th house is ruled by Moon. Does that not indicate a younger spouse?

Dear Amit,

Technically you are right. And this is said for Cancer & Leo ascendants, as Saturn represents aged people. Many astrological dictums should not be taken literally, and many of them don’t hold good either in modern times.

Parasara states - Lagnakendragate sukre, lagnese mandarasige, vatsaraikadase praapte, vivaaham labhate narah i.e Venus in an angle to the ascendant, and its lord in a sign of Saturn, marriage occurs at the age of 11. This combination may occur in the charts of millions, do they get married at such an age?

Both my parents are Capricorn ascendants, and my mother is not elder to my father nor she from a lower class!
Many dictums have hidden meanings, My mother is the 2nd eldest in the family and started earning and shouldering family responsibilities at a young age. Maybe, older refers to being responsible and mentally mature.

Thanks for the reply!

I would still like to believe that a Rishi (in case of BPHS) and a learned scholar (in case of Phala Deepika) would have given due thought before saying something. Although, I do agree that some sutras have have to be refreshed in the modern context. Nevertheless, most of them should still hold valid.

You also made an interesting point with the spouse being mature. But again, why would that be as Saturn is not involved with the 7th house?

I imagine a Sutra does not hold valid because it is being cancelled out by some other combination or Sutra.

Agree completely with the above post that old is not just about age here. In modern cases with gender equality, it could be that the partner is very mature and responsible or that the partnership itself is mature and realistic (or in the worst case, cold and distant depending on saturn's nature in the chart).

Also, if it was literal age gap, the age difference could go either way. It usually means deviating from the average norm for the society at that time. Hence in the past, if normal age gap was four or five, saturn in the 7th could mean age gap of ten. Now we have to adjust these figures accordingly.

One has to look at D9 7th house, D9 7th lord and 7th lord of D1 in D9 as well. Thus in the above case, maybe Saturn was involved in 7th house of D9.

7th lord Moon is assigned a natural age of 70 years by the Rishi. Not older than Saturn, but not too young either.
