I have spent quite a bit of time philosophizing about the nature of Rahu and Ketu, and something has always bugged me about the way that astrologers as a whole represent Rahu and Ketu. Rahu on one hand is considered the node of desire and on the other Ketu is considered the node of detachment (which is often linked to enlightenment). And though many astrologers clarify that Rahu and Ketu are a part of the same entity, are interconnected, often I find this lapse in showing the interrelationship between them.
From what I’ve surmised, Ketu is very instinctual. Everything that an individual does, how the individual views things, how they interact with others, pretty much perception itself, there is an inherent reminder on some deep level from Ketu saying “Hey… I’m what’s really driving this”. This for many people causes great frustration as the person is always inherently aware of this root that it cannot escape. Ketu never feels fully complete, yet it feels as though it can never fully detach. Rahu is the impulse to try to evolve beyond the root. Rahu is often linked with desire, but really, Rahu is a collector … a mental vacuum of sorts. It is always trying to transform, to gestalt… but because of the nature of thought anything Rahu picks up always feels as though it is in boxes, always categorical.
The nodes are kind of like a battery, the more Rahu tries to connect and assimilate, the more the individual is reminded of the root firmly laid from Ketu. The more the individual tries to let go of their roots, the more the individual feels pushed into trying to evolve beyond. Now this is the problem I have, as often Rahu is viewed as being the problem, and Ketu is viewed as being the savior. In truth though, they are both the problem, they are the same…an inherent consequence of dualism. Both have the piece that the other is missing. Ketu is inherently dogmatic… the idea is ingrained, while Rahu is rather free to hop from idea to idea unimpeded by the inherent dogma that holds Ketu back. Ketu is gestalt, the answers are instilled into Ketu quite instinctively, while Rahu always feels this separateness inherent in the ideas it’s attempting to unify. One cannot be more spiritually significant than the other, as both are missing something very core to the totality of the psychological and spiritual sphere.
The placements of the nodal lords would seem to be very key to relinquishing the tension between the two. Some sort of strong aspect between the two lords could help to make the individual aware of the relationship between the two sides, can give an inherent awareness of how it’s roots effect its desire… which can alleviate the strain and possibly give some balance to the two. If Rahu’s lord is strong, I sort of think of calculus, how something can be viewed as approaching infinity. The ideas and thoughts of the individual become so complex and intertwined that the output seems quite transcendental and hyper connected to the point that it can almost mentalize something beyond the mind’s limitations. If Ketu’s lord is strong, then the inherent dogma implanted in the individual will be very smooth and highly adaptive to the point where Ketu feels almost free from the inherent rigidity of its instilled perception.

Is not that painful? The result of such a trait will often lead to isolation. Given others won't get there.
You got a strong lord of Rahu?
