Hi Learned Members

The Iron Horse Shoe if placed at the main door is supposed to ward off the malefic effects of Saturn. It will be better too if it is installed with the chanting of Saturn's mantra.

Now why the horse shoe?

In olden times there was the horse sacrifice, and before that was done, the horse was allowed to roam about freely with the king's men keeping an eye on it. This period can be very long. Only then the horse is fit for sacrifice.

The horse represents our karma. As long as we are not attached to the fruits of our karma, our soul can get liberated - represented by the successful sacrifice of the horse. The horse shoe is covers the hooves of the horse whn it roams, so it represents the point where we put in effort in our karma like work. Typically the horses roam with horse shoes on their hooves. So this kind of karma is supposed to be auspicious. So hanging the horse shoe at the main door is trying to tell the rakshasas that this household is not attached to our fruits of our karma, so they would not bother to come into our house and cause trouble.

So go and get the horse shoe and hang it in your main door. You can PM me for the specific Saturn mantra for this if you are interested.

By the way the horse represents Moon or Venus (yes, Venus too, but from different scriptural sources).

Moon can get rid of the effects of Saturn provided the horse can roam freely. The Moon is the fastest moving planet and represents the mind. So the mind is not attached to the fruits of the karma when it is signified by the horse roaming. In the myth, a particular kingdom tries to capture the horse and a chain of events involving sacrifices amongst the posterities (including your own re-birth) shows the penance required (tapastya) if we becomes mired with our karma. Thus Venus and Ketu comes in.

(Ketu shows attachment besides Moksha, so an equal amount of measure of Ketu in tapastya is needed to get rid of the attachment that is induced by Ketu. That is why Ketu comes into the picture.).

I am now sitting in my study room writing all this.......and I feel that I am indeed blessed to be given this divine insight by God.........

Best Regards

This astrological remedy was noted in the book "Encyclopaedia of Astrological Remedies" sanctioned by the Indian Astrological Association Society.

By the way, the iron horse shoe is the point of contact of the horse to the Earth. As the horse represent us, the contact with Earth represents karma generated or paid back......10th bhava represents the Earth where Saturn is the natural ruler.

In Western countries they affix the horseshoe with the prongs facing upwards. This gives luck.

In India, the horseshoe is affixed with the prongs facing downwards. This would protect one from evil spirits and is more in tune with the idea of the remedy given in ancient texts on the use of the horseshoe. Luck would then follow.

Note the horseshoe must be affixed at the TOP of the door frame.

A horseshoe that has been used by the horse to gallop for some time is the one that you should choose to buy. A bit worn out.

This is in keeping in line with the myth just described.

Actually the horseshoe by putting the prong downwards, it is something like Rahu. So it is something like a symbol of Cain, whereby the slaughter would not come to the family as the horseshoe is placed outside the main front door. It is like a stamp of an asura telling the other asuras that the family belongs to their group - so don't touch them.

As Rahu is akin to Saturn, this is the first layer of protection, which if you have only invoked good karma then you have nothing to worry about, but if you have invoked bad karma, it can protect you.

However, if this karma protective layer is side-stepped. then the inner layers of the house would start invoking their individual protective powers.

Another interpretation of the upside down horse shoe is this :

The opening shows we are about to enter the compound of where we stay. The curvature of the metal towards that opening is actually in accordance with good Vastu principle (or Fengshui) that all the lucky energy are all compressed and brought to the opening and it hits the person observing the horseshoe on the face.
