Hi Vikas:

Lord Saturn's transit to Kanya Rasi is generally good just because first of all Lord Saturn is getting stronger as he is nearing his exalted position in Thulam Rasi. Secondly, Kanya Rasi is one of the friendliest houses for Lord Saturn as Mercury is a friendlier planet to Saturn- Bandhu Karaka. For Kanya Rashi natives, they are already in the Sadae Sathi trend, though it will be much better when compared to saturn being in Sun's house.

Just with Saturn's transition, a result or an output cannot be told exactly. Planets keep changing their position from time to time, but it is the horoscope at the time of your birth which matters rather than these gochara transits.

Apart from that, there are three types of Karmas which makes a native rule namely Prarabhada, Sanchita, and Agami or Kriyamana. Sanchita and Agami of a native has to be considered for telling correctly as it also plays a part in this life itself to a certain extent as it can change fortunes in one's case, though the Sanchita Karma which one is undergoing now as prarbdha plays a major role, i.e. the horoscope. Apart from this an astrologer or a predictor should have deep, strong, and true upsana to tell exactly.

The word Kanya Rasi has no specific meaning.A person may have popular name beginning with Kanya Rasi, another person may have ascendent Kanya Rasi, however, the transit would affect most those who were born when the moon was in Kanya Rasi.
Yes,the transit in general would be better than leo Rasi for saturn. It is expected to restore peace to those ,like me,who are having either sun or moon in leo and saturn has tested them for last two and half years on grindstone, since it is not gone yet out of leo,the testing continues.
I remember saying of a Hindi Poet "dukh sab ko manjata hai",this really applies to saturn, the god of adversity, whose final result is that it makes one mature and sympathetic towards other human beings having similar adversity.

Retrograde is an extra strength of a planet, transit effects are being counted in the usual way.
dbhat, you are running dasa of exalted jupiter occuypying the house of gains, although you have middle impact of sadhe sathi, you need not worry much as you have protection of Dasa of Jupiter, the planet of divine blessings.I hope you have already come out stronger from the circumstances you might have faced during first half of your life.
You should avoid meat and liquor.Take blessings of elders, help the downtrodden.

Dear Sunil, natal saturn being retrograde does not aspect from two signs,in case you wish to state that aspects should be backward for retrograde saturn, that is not accepted by ancient texts:the aspects are usual, that is those apects which ordinarily are assigned to saturn as if not being retrograde.

As for transit effects, these are not considered in isolation but with respect to natal strength or weakness of saturn ,shadvaraga strength and ashtakvarga position of auspicious points in particular sign.

Your question is incomplete,no astrologer would reply that without taking into account natal position of planets.

I would like this clarification. I have come across astrological texts which state that Saturn casts its maximum effect on a particular rashi when it enters it and then again when it leaves it during the transit. In case of a planet like Jupiter its the reverse. Jupiter casts its maximum effect during the middle period of its stay in a rashi.
I find my own experiences corroborating this principle. My moon is in the Kanya Rashi in my natal chart which is the 7th house from my Lagna (Meen). the second half of last quarter of 2009 has been bad for my relationship after Saturn has transited to this house. But then again this transit has also opened new prospects for me of going abroad for higher studies. I think this is because of Saturn's aspect to the 9th house which is both the house of higher education and long journeys.
