Dear Usha,
As far as effect of retrograde planets is concerned,I am sure, being retrograde is kind of force of a planet, through which it is empowered to do good or evil, however, basic nature of planet remains the same.

Mercury being exalted in Navamsha is a postive feature in horoscope of your son.
It certainly mitigates to a good extent the debilitated nature of planet in Rasi chart.

Merely because Jupiter is in Virgo and retrograde, does not mean to presume it in leo. The simple rule is take 15 degree on either side from ascendent to determine the position (bhava) of a planet.
Myself have mooltrikona saturn retrograde in the 8th,being retrograde, its aspect do not change. It powerfully aspects the 10 house, during the 20 years I was in service,I never enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere, presently I am suspended since last one year, though I am neither accused of any theft/forgery/misbehaviour.That is the powerful effect of retrograde saturn, although I am confident of winning the struggle, yet it may take years.
