Ever wondered why there is a Nakshatra lorded by Sun in Saturn's house(Capricorn)? Does that mean Saturn does bad even if he is in his own house but in Sun's nakshatra?

Well, lets put it this way. Consider Capricorn as a town which has many areas(nakshatras) located in the town. This town is governed by Saturn who lays the rules eventhough his native town is aquarius. Here, one of the areas is owned by Sun which is the nakshatra 'Uttarashadha'.This means Sun owns a land in Saturn's (his enemy's) town.

Basically, even if Sun is Saturn's enemy, he has to follow the rules set by Saturn since the town's mayor cum owner is Saturn. Also, saturn is allowed inside Sun's land even though Sun may not like it and he cannot do anything to Saturn as long as he is in the pada of Uttarashadha which is inside the township of Capricorn.

Now, if Sun is in Capricorn in his own land 'Uttarashadha' , he will feel comfortable as long as he is inside his borderline. Saturn cannot do anything to Sun as he is protected 24/7 in his own land!

Now, if Saturn(even though the owner of the town) enters Uttarashadha, he is safe but follows the customs that are being followed by Sun since he is a guest at Sun's place. These customs can be identified by the placement of Sun in the Rasi chart.

But the situation is different if Saturn is in Leo. Sun has full dominance even if Saturn is in Purva Phalguni(Venus's land in Sun's township). Eventhough Saturn is a dear friend to Venus, Venus cannot hide Saturn forever in her home since she herself is an enemy to the Sun. So, Venus may feel safe in Purva Phalguni, but not Saturn.

Lets say, if Saturn has an option to visit Leo, he has the 3 destinations. Magha can be compared to a high security Prison; Purva phalguni can be compared to a hut without any safety; Uttara Phalguni(1st pada) can be compared to hell for Saturn where he will be tortured 24/7..

Hope you get the idea

One important point we should keep in mind is that Sun is Saturn's father.

But, the enemity between their relationship arised mainly because of Saturn's frustration on Sun (a son's frustration on his father). This was due to several reasons.

So, when we know this nature of the two planets and their relationship, it is clear that Sun would never torture Saturn and vice versa. But both of them will be frustrated once they are in close vicinity to each other.

No matter how much frustration may be present between the two; but we have to ask this question ourselves - Will a father ever hate his own son that will drive him to take his life?

If there are clashes, it is better that saturn and sun do not meet each other and be on their own ways. That way, they will work efficiently. The same thing can be concluded in a person's chart also. better sun and saturn do not meet each other through conjunctions or aspects.. But if they do, then the power of these two planets should be taken into account. Otherwise there will not be any frustrations..

Wonderful explanation sir, even novice like me can get the facts.

some doubts sir,
.. But if they do, then the power of these two planets should be taken into account.
power means shadabala......

wht happens if sun power is more or vice versa........

Incase of saturn in Purva phalguni, and in kendra,,,,,,, how will be the effects.

Sreejivp, shadbala does not matter much if there is no contact between sun and saturn in the chart and also navamsa..

One more thing...

See Sun's mahadasha is 6 years...

Saturn's mahadasha is 6*3 = 18 years..

Now, who is more powerful?

If Saturn is favorable in a chart and that too his MD comes later part in life, then it is a mega boon.. Remember, Saturn does well once the person is mature and more so after 40 years of age ..

Just a sidenote.

Actually exaltation points of planets can be explained in terms of BOTH the sign rulership and Nakshatra rulership.

For example, Venus maximum exaltation point is 27 degree Pisces. Thus with the help of Mercury who is very idealistic, Venus learns Jupiter's ways in the environment of Pisces ruled by Jupiter.

But I prefer the explanation of the deity lords and the nature of the Nakshatra combination of explanations better.

Thus Venus exaltation point in Revati is because Venus universal love reaches its finest expression through Pushan the deity lord of Revati. Revati also do not care about boundaries between groups in the sense that they realize these are artificial partitions which ordinary mortals put up themselves.

Mars exaltation point in Dhanista because the 7 deities here imbue in Mars the dharmic consciousness necessary for Mars to perform his function without any trouble.

Sun exaltation point in Aswini because like the deity of the horse twins, Sun likes to cure. Ingenuity marks both Aswni and people with a strong Sun too.

Moon exaltation point in Krittika is because the fire deity here helps to fulfil Moon's wishes, just like food needs to be cooked before it can be eaten. Both the facets of caring and protection which can include being very fierce, is exhibited both by the Moon and Krittika.

Mercury exaltation point in Hasta is because of the similarity between Hasta and Mercury in their attitude and outlook towards life.

Jupiter and Saturn I have mentioned in an earlier post about their exaltation points the reasons why.

Best Regards

Sun is in 9th house in Pisces.
Saturn is also the darakaraka
