Hi,
I'm very much a Vedic beginner having recently transferred from Perso-Arabic astrology but I will give it a shot.
Some notes:
Partivana between L9 and L10, Rahu and Jupiter
L6 and L11, Mars, in 10th
The first note would suggest work abroad (doubly so with Rahu occupying) while the second note shows logical work and very much in service due to L6.
In D-10, Rahu is again in 10th house and this shows a variable, or up-and-down career, with breaks and being L6, would show service again, conjoining the Sun who is 12th lord. This constitutes a Vipareeta yoga and shows success at the expense of others or after some struggles. What I mentioned earlier with the breaks and variable nature in the career seems to be emphasised by Mercury ruling Lagna and 10th house while being combust in the rasi, so during these times, as well as the Sun's periods, I would expect some trouble in career.
The Dasa period shows this. I am using Dwi-sapati sama dasa since Lagnesa is in the 7th in rasi. When you got your job, Sun-Mercury was running, and since both have influence over the 10th house, I feel quite comfortable with you getting a job here, especially with the Sun Pratyantaradasa running in Feb 2009. Now I don't know if this folows Vedic thought but when a planet is combust in Western astrology, it has real trouble upholding its duty in the chart. I feel this (as well as Rahu's inherent nature) is the reason that job didn't last very long. The job presumably ended in Sun-Jupiter-Sun and I have already mentioned the problems with the Sun. Jupiter here is a maraka for the Lagna being lord of 7th and in the 2nd, while it rules the 7th from the 10th and the dasa lord.
As for the long period after this, Venus and Saturn are involved in a Daridra yoga in d-10 and all the while under the theme of the Sun's dasa, this would show a long period of ill-fortune during their consecutive antardasa periods.
Now here is where my inexperience comes into play. Sun and Rahu are involved in a Vipareeta yoga, and I would have thought from the principles I have learned thus far that this would be activated in Sun-Rahu or Rahu-Sun dasa. The next antar dasa in this Sun period is Rahu. My initial thoughts would be that it is in this period that the yoga activates and therefore goves you some success after a hard time, especially since Rahu is exalted.
This seems to be mirrored in the D-10 Naranya dasa with the Cap-Gem period beginning in Oct this year and continuing into 2013. Gemini contains the Sun/Rahu combination and is the 6th from the Dasa lagna.
I hope I am correct in my assesment and the next few months brings you some joy, I myself know how hard it is to be without emplyment for so long. I send you my best wishes.

Valens,
Much of your analysis is quite commendable!
However, Rahu-Sun conjunction in any house and in any sign makes Rahu malefic. In this case, a malefic Rahu in Lagna has been reinforced by the Rahu-Sun conjunction in 10th in Dashamansha, eventhough Rahu is benefic in the Navansha.
According to Geocentric Moon Vinshottari, he got a job during Saturn-Ketu-Rahu, thus giving the effect of benefic Rahu in Navansha. However, his mlefic Rahu in Lagna chart reinforced by the Dashamansha would eventually play out.
According to Moon Vinshottari, he lost his job during Saturn-Venus-Venus and here the Venus in 12th aspecting 6th in Dashamansha has given effect. This Venus reinforces the Lagna chart position of Venus in 6th, aspecting 12th.
Remedies for Rahu and Venus are required here.
Cr8bat -
Wear white sandalwood necklace.
Fast twice a month - 1) Every Purnima. Pray to Vishnu-Lakshmi on this day. 2) Every Shukla Paksha Ashtami. Pray to Goddess Durga on this day.
Offer water to the rising Sun daily.

Hi Saindhavi,
By:
"In this case, a malefic Rahu in Lagna..."
Do you mean malefic in Rasi chart?
You give much emphasis to Venus' role in D-10 chart for this current ill-fortune for the native, is this because she influences the Artha trikona in both rasi and Dasamsa, or is there some other reason? Also, in your opinion, would the Vipareeta yoga in the 10th in D-10 be nullified because it is Rahu and Sun performing it?
In a purely theoretical sense since we are using different dasa systems, would the Moon dasa coming up in the Dwi-sapatisama system prove more fruitful for the native? I wouldn't think so since it is conjoined the 6th lord in the 12th aspected by Saturn and disposed by Sun who is conjoined Rahu and if indeed the Vipareeta yoga of those two does not manifest, you are saying this is not a favourable combination.

I'm sorry, yes, a malefic Rahu in Lagna chart, not in Lagna. Rahu here is creating Angaraka Yoga with Mars.
Which of the 2 Dashas will bear fruit only the native will testify by his life event, but Moon Vinshottatri is seen to have effect in most charts, sometimes in combination with other Dasha systems.
Rahu-Sun conjunction always makes Rahu malefic in the house where it is placed - even if Rahu is exalted as in D-10 here. The saving grace here is benefic Rahu in Navansha, which makes it give benefic results from time to time.
I saw the role of Venus because it was Venus Antar and Pratyantar Dashas working when he lost the job. Venus also rules financial situations, apart from some other planets.
Vipareet yoga usually gives fruit after the native goes through a struggle.
Now, in transit when Rahu comes into Libra from Mid Nov or so, it is likely to give benefic results to this native, in association with exalted Saturn - after Sun moves out of Libra.

No, sorry, by my question I meant that in the Dasa system I was using after the Sun-Rahu dasa ends, Moon becomes dasa lord, so I was wondering if this would be more fruitful than the Sun period and its already staed drawbacks?Saindhavi wrote:Which of the 2 Dashas will bear fruit only the native will testify by his life event, but Moon Vinshottatri is seen to have effect in most charts, sometimes in combination with other Dasha systems.
Re: Venus
If you only used Venus since it was running at the time of the trouble and not from any specific astrological principle, how then could you have predicted the actual events in advance?
Yes, Moon periods should be better in thin chart than Sun periods.
We both said Venus was not well-placed. This means that Venus periods will bring problems. So, even without knowing about his life events, it is possible to say that Venus periods will bring financial crisis.

Even in the context of the Dasamsa, you think the Moon will perform better? It isn't in very good state here either.
Yes, I understand that Venus is badly-placed in both charts and we can say her periods will bring ill-fortune in certain life-topics but, and maybe this is my learning in Perso-Arabic astrology coming through, shouldn't we be aiming to give precise predictions at least to the level of the where and the what is going to be effected in the specific periods? Is it enough to say "it is a bad period"? Surely, the native will want to know more?
It is my understanding that the 3rd and 8th give breaks from work, and other than an obstruction of secondary argala on the lords of those houses, Venus doesn't seem to have any relation to either of them. From the Sun dasa lord, Venus is in the 3rd and Saturn rules the 8th (as well as the poverty yoga both are involved in from Dasmamsa lagna), so I can see how a break in work is shown in the Dasa system I am using for this chart.
I understand what you mean in saying that Venus has some relevance to finances but lack of work and lack of wealth do not necessarily come together. In my case, I have Rahu occupying Dasamsa lagna with Lagnesha Saturn combust in Rasi and I have an erratic work-life, actually two days ago, I finished a contract of employment and I have been offered the same contract for next April, so work will be sparse until then but I am not short of stored wealth and I will manage until April. If Venus is indeed the one carrying the duties of this time, how, in your own methodology, would you predict that the work life will suffer?

I must compliment your analysis!
See, in this chart, Venus periods indicate depletion of finances -6/12 axis in both charts - whether stored wealth or income from work is immaterial here in context of Venus in this chart - it signifies depletion of finances. Even if she was working, there would have been depletion of finances because of unnecessary heavy expenditure that couldn't have been avoided.
For break in work, you have accurately seen 10th house, in combination with 3rd and 8th houses - Rahu-Sun-Saturn are causing break in work. Add to this a combust Lagna Lord Mercury, who is not able to protect her from crisis situations.
I feel within Venus periods, short periods of Sun and Rahu - and also Saturn as you pointed out - have caused break in work, because Venus was supposed to cause depletion of finances. The overall situation is decided by the greater periods, while the actual cause is decided by the smaller periods.
