O Learned and Devoted Servants of God,
The lives of human incarnations of God (like Krishna, Rama, Jesus, Shri Dattaswami etc) are always filled with intensive scenes of pleasure and sorrow. It is just like the plate of meals containing intensive sweet and intensive hot dishes (sweet means happy situation or incident, hot means misery or agony). The intensity of the sweetness and the intensity of the hotness give climax of enjoyment. When the dish is intensively sweet or intensively hot, your enjoyment will always reach the climax. The Gita says that equality is yoga (Samatvam yoga uchyate…). The interpretation of the word ‘equality’ is misunderstood by the scholars. Some interpret that the sweet and hot dishes are equal. This is meaningless because only a mad fellow can say like that.
Sweet is sweet and hot is hot. Some other scholars say that your feeling in eating the dishes must become equal so that you are not mentally enjoying both. This is also foolish interpretation because only the tongue of a diseased person becomes inert without grasping the tastes of both the dishes in different ways. For him, the tastes of both the dishes become equal. Therefore, in this interpretation, the tastes of both the dishes become equal. Both these interpretations are totally wrong since the practical experience contradicts such views. Neither the dishes are equal, nor are the tastes of the dishes equal. Such equality is not really yoga. It is only forced misinterpreted yoga. The real yoga is the equality in the enjoyment of the different tastes of both the different dishes. The dishes are different and the tastes are different. The tastes are not changed during enjoyment. But, finally, the resulting state of enjoyment is one and the same.
State of enjoying both misery and happiness is yoga

Very well explained!!!...If Lord Rama faced problems on this earth life, even he was the Reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, what we can expect from ourselves who are mere mortals!!!..
Problems are part and parcel of every life. It is intuitive and intelligence needed to overcome them. Lastly, Patience is the key.!

You are correct. Life of Human form of God like Rama, krishna are the message to people that you can also enjoy the misery without any complaint. The essence of the entire message of Lord Krishna, Bhagavad Gita, is to develop the highest state in which you can be in the state of continuous enjoyment and happiness through entertainment. If you can enjoy the problems also, such continuous state of happiness is possible. The human being has always the worst tendency to pick-up negative things only in the life and go on brooding over those things. Either you should avoid thinking about those negative things (dhyayato vishayaan …) or you should be able to enjoy those negative things also like the dish of chillies in meals.aseem82 wrote:Very well explained!!!...If Lord Rama faced problems on this earth life, even he was the Reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, what we can expect from ourselves who are mere mortals!!!..

Avoiding the thinking of negative things in the life is impossible since they touch and penetrate the mind in the practical life. Therefore, the only alternative way is to enjoy those things also and be happy in every minute of life. Such state is called as Brahmi sthiti (Eshaa brahmi sthitih …), which means that you should continuously enjoy your life containing both positive and negative things like God enjoying His creation containing both good and bad.

mk rob
Infamous Killer/cannibal/pedophile Albert Fish inserted needles in his perineum (21 needles were found in the scan). He enjoyed the pain...Does that account for yoga??
State of enjoying misery can't simply be applied to real life.
State of enjoying misery can't simply be applied to real life.
I agree with mk rob, saddist attitude is also not mere nature of soul, when we say taste change, is there any guarantee that there is sure light at the end of tunnel,a childless couple or a jobless person ,or a patient ...they cant be witness of problems n so misery cant be enjoyed by them, becauses in cases sweetness not there n only hot dishes also cant be enjoyed.
This too shall pass.
