GUYS HERE IS SOME LITRATURE WHICH I HAVE COLLECTED FROM HERE AND THERE AND IF U LIKE OR WANNA SAY SOME THING CAN COMMENT ON IT.....
want to share some information, which I have regarding mark of PADAM.
The mark on feet is associated with “Vaishnav” – (followers of Lord Vishnu and his incarnations) sect of Hinduism. Buddhist scriptures also mention about it.
I too have the picture of Guru Nanak Dev ji , showing Padam in his foot but I have not come across any reference in Gurbani about it. I have heard a lecture by Sant Sujan Singh ji (who has spent many years with Baba Nand Singh ji) explaining about mark. In short, according to him the mark in picture is made for Sikhs to concentrate on feet of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
Lord Krishna had Padam in his feet. Bhai Gurdass ji has mentioned in Vaar 10 - Pauri 23 as to how this mark of Padam became cause of death of Shri Krishna.
Jaaye sutaa parbhas wich godey utey pair pasarey
Charan Kanwal which Padam hai , jhilmil chamke wangu tarey
Bhadak aiya bhalda mirgey jaan baan ley marey ………………..
Darsan dithos jai key karan plaav kare pukarey
Gal vich lita Krishan jee, avgun keeta har na chitarey
Kar kirpa santokhiya , patit udharan birad vicharey
Bhale bhale kar maniyan buriyan de har kaaj sawarey
Paap karende patit udharey.
Shri Krishna went to sleep in Parbhas.
(As per translation by Dr. Jodh Singh – Parbhas is the name of a town of pilgrimage)
His foot is resting on the knee of other leg.
He has Padam in his foot.
The mark of Padam is shining like a star.
The hunter came looking for animals.
He misunderstood the shining mark in Shri Krishna’s feet,
as (eye of) deer, and shot an arrow towards it
When hunter came near Shri Krishna and saw the arrow
in Shri Krishna’s foot he started grieving and weeping.
Shri Krishna embraced him and consoled him and thus proved
That he is forgiver of sins and up lifter of down trodden.
Now see what Guru Gobind Singh ji has to say about mark (Chinh). In the first line of Jaap Sahib, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji, say
“Chakar Chinh aur Varan jaat aur paat Nahin jih”
GOD does not have any weapon in his hand ( Chakra or weapon– like Sudarashan Chakra)
Nor does HE has any mark on body ( Chinh – or mark like Padam)
Nor does he belong to any class, caste or race.
I have just tried to provide you some information regarding mark of Padam , which may be partly related to your question. There is likely hood of mistakes on my part so please forgive me.
Mayee Charan Gur Meethay. – O mother , sweet are the feet of Guru.
Thanks.
similarity in gur nanak ji and lord krishna ji
