P Mahesh Sir
i hope im not interrupting
i think about the flute its because the flute is an empty instrument
that what ive heard
that the Lord can work through if one is empty
but im not sure
maybe youve heard this

The Reed Flute's Song
by Jalalu'ddin Rumi, excerpted from Coleman Barks' translation in The Essential Rumi

Listen to the story told by the reed,
of being separated.
"Since I was cut from the reedbed,
I have made this crying sound.
Anyone apart from someone he loves
understands what I say.
Anyone pulled from a source
longs to go back.
At any gathering I am there,
mingling in the laughing and grieving,
a friend to each, but few
will hear the secrets hidden
within the notes. No ears for that.
Body flowing out of spirit,
spirit up from body: no concealing
that mixing. But it's not given us
to see the soul. The reed flute
is fire, not wind. Be that empty.....
"From the houses of the holy, we can watch the white doves go ..."

What is the origin of our thinking? From where the thoughts come? This invisible energy is God.
There are few who are very successful believes in destiny
Aseem,

I completely agree with you that people find it difficult to believe in predestined destiny. Yes, it is true that the Hindus always have believed in predestined destiny. It's in their culture, in their religion, but with the British rule in India came western culture, and the belief in free will grew.

You have very rightly pointed that the thoughts don't come to our mind of their own: the planets have a big influence over them. Our thinking pattern changes as per the period of the planets running and as per the planetary transits.

If you read my posts here written 3 years back, I have said that I can never take interest in spirituality, but I am reading books on it now. How did this change happen? With my planetary sub-period changing from Jupiter to Saturn, I grew an interest in spirituality. When my planetary period changed from Ketu to Venus, my school friend told me, 'Basab, you have changed as a person.' How does one explain this? The change was not brought in by me conciously, but it came in me, on its own. My looks even changed! I can give several such examples from my life, which shows that we change with time, even without any concious effort in our part.

so true Basabji.

very similar thing happened in my case too with change of Mahadasha.
Nothing is free except God's Grace.

Mahesh,

You are not understanding one point, what you are calling free will is also God's will. When we do something defying our destiny, that is also God's will. This world is running as per God's will. You may ask what is the logic behind this, what is the logic behind that, but you are not understanding one thing: God is beyond our human logic. We can't understand Him, and His plans. What's going on in this world is His play.

It's not me or you, Kandhan, it happens with everyone: some call it destiny, some free will.

Mahesh,

As I told you before also, if you try to understand God with a logical mind, you can't understand Him. I don't have any confusion about any of the points you have said because I have got the answers to them in spiritual books. It's difficult to explain them because even if I explain, you will make counter questions, and it will lead to an argument, which I don't want. You are comparing God with PM, which I think is wrong. There can't be any comparison between them. You have talked about crime happening in this world of God. I remember something in context to this: it's said that God has become everything in this world: He is the criminal, He is the victim of the crime, and He is the crime also. So how can you accuse God when you hear this logic?

About Swami Vivekananda, yes, he talked about putting efforts, but then, he also said the line that I have made my signature. Isn't that talking about predestined destiny?

About Anupamji, I don't think he has left the forum, but he writes very less these days, that is true.

Hi Coolantji - I think Spirituality is all about the feelers. The more you feel the more you grow and when you stop growing you cant feel much. So, the crux is inhale the air, feell yourself and exhale and grow... That is true spirituality i think

Sonu ji,

What do you think leads to a true spiritual quest, especially for the celibate? A call from the divine or not getting laid?? And how does it manifest astrologically? Any special arudhas? This question has perplexed me for quite some time.

Coolji,

the true spiritual quest is unique for every soul. There is no general hearsay or a writeup. The basics to be followed are dharma as per shastras, AS PER CAPACITY.

Meaning, a millionaire can donate much more than a poor, but that does'nt mean that the Lord equates the two on the same weighscale.

Similarly, when one is getting laid quite often, it is exhaustion of such material desires. One has to exhaust all karma to move to next step. One who is not getting laid today, does not mean he never got laid before  . Sex is not a crime. One just has to be careful with dharma part. If Divine were to say NO SEX STRICTLY FOR ALL, then there was no point in creating two different sexes. The world could have manifested in one sex itself. So, a judicial decision has to be taken in these thoughts.

Celibacy is advisable only for Sanyasis, not for Grihasthas and Nitya Samsaris. It only alleviates the problem, if one tries to be a celibate while still being married or living in a material domain.

Astrologically, I have no answers, I am still a beginner and need to dig deep into the astrological part of this topic. Needless to say, my entire chart is afflicted as per a foreign astrologer on this forum

Trust I have confused you enough  . If yes, goal achieved, if not will try harder next time  .

Sonu ji,

Unfortunately you have been crystal clear. You say that this sort of disorders are psycho-somatic in nature, and no divinity is involved. Now you see that the H of sex is the 7th, and the H of work is the 10th. And 7th is 10th from 10th. So by your logic if one is in trouble, it will invariably lead to affectation of the other? Say no desire to get laid will lead to no desire for work? I know this is very confusing, but I have full confidence in your abilities of deduction.

You cant keep off that hell thing cann you :( ... You again reminded me of my chart.. I get scary dreams mili.. dont scare me.

swamykool wrote:You say that this sort of disorders are psycho-somatic in nature, and no divinity is involved.
Coolji - It is not a disorder, but nature itself. There is divinity also involved. Without divinity, we cant move an inch...but the divinity gets involved on the basis of past karmas of the individual. All we reap today at macro level is past birth problems and gains. At a micro level, how we respond to the same situations today, describes our recourse to next birth.

Say for e.g. at a Macro level, your chart says, that you have a very high sex drive. Then that is there predestined, true. But what efforts you make at micro level to get rid of that extra drive that puts you in trouble, is what will define your Karma for next birth.

If you continue to put yourself in trouble more and more, more sanchita karma and troublesome next births. There is never a thought as such that says, let me enjoy this one and will see what happens next..

Trust i have this time atleast been able to confuse better...  .. If not then i have to rework on the phrase "If you cannot convince than confuse" .. My version would be ÏF you can confuse then why convince :D :P

Milred,

Have you hurt people deliberately? Have you harmed those who are less powerful than you out of arrogance? Have you insulted god? Have you done no charity towards the less fortunate? Have you deviated from your dharma of a daughter/wife/mother? If the answer to all these questions are a 'no', then you are not going to hell. Don't listen to sundry idiots and confuse yourself. You have some of the very best astrologers as your friends in this forum. Trust them.

Sonu ji,

Confusing me is a very difficult job. I work for the govt. we are past masters in confusion. There is none better. :D

But take a deeper look at the 7-10 axis and give me your thoughts. However if two basic drives are gone, what is left for the soul? Will this make a person shameless? As they say 'Nanga, daku se kyon darey? (one who is naked need not fear the brigands). Your thoughts on this sir, and if you please, explain this through Jaimini.

Swamykool but my friends do not have so much knowledge about spirituality as the sundry astrologers. My friends have not written a single page on spirituality. Experience counts isnt it. I would rather go with the experienced. So i am worried and scared actually

Good evening swamy cool
as a doctor I have seen enough of spirituality and all the mumbo jumbo to stand clear of all this .Yes I believe in God. Yes I believe in Spirits, and Yes I do believe in a "Past life" . What you have said Swamy cool is cent percent right. I am in full concurrence with Astro Sonu too. He is right when he says that we must use what ever free will we have to change our Sanchita and Prarabdha karma . I am from Coorg . we worship only two things, the river Cauvery and our Ancestors. We believe in rebirth and we believe in the concept of souls . I believe in the concept of do good and be good .

Coolji,

7 and 10 do not just represent sex and karma. there is a lot of value attached to it in other forms of engagements in the world too. So, these two houses alone cannot have a say.

IMO there has to be an overall spiritual chart and then sub factors like 7th lord, its affliction etc need to be seen.

Look at it other way, Why should one abstain from sex altogether ?

1. Physical reasons OR Mental ?
2. IS it an obstacle in spirituality ?
3. IS the concept of conservation of Veerya applicable to all ?
4. Is it a sin described in Shastras ?

Actually, it is only for a true renunciate that all this will make sense. Because the continuous sustainence of Veerya for 12 years will make one to flow it from the spinal region instead of the organs. This gives push to the chakras and each opens one by one. So, from a perspective of Samadhi, it is essential to push the veerya from the spine upwards viz. Urdhwa retas instead of Downwards as Veerya Skhalan. Veerya is nothing but ojas. When this ojas is sustained for a long long time, then it gives siddhis.

But lets take the time into consideration and the surrounding factors around us in kaliyuga. Is this possible ? NO. Reasons, we both know. What we eat, see, talk, walk etc all influences our will. And it is next to impossible in todays world to lead a perfect dharmic life. So, explusing self from sexual activity is infact a hypocritic act in itself. It is like giving pain to the mind and body.

Hence in kaliyuga, we have other modes to gain the grace of almighty. Japas, homams, service to the poor, service to the parents etc give manifold results in kaliyuga owing to yuga dharma. So, honestly speaking, only 7 and 10 house evaluation without considering yuga dharma will only lead us to delusion nothing else.

Milred,

Maybe your friends do not write about spirituality but that does not mean that they know nothing about it. And spewing spirituality from both ends does not mean that the person is a master in it. Really spiritual people do not discuss it much, and then only with people of same inclination.

Let me tell you an incident. Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu while discussing with one of his principle disciples, Roop Goswami said that the Leela of Radha and Krishna must not be discussed everywhere and with everybody. Unevolved people will not understand the fine interplay of Purush and Prakriti and will simply reduce it to soft pornograpy. So is spirituality.

And you have two stalwarts in this matter. Srinivas ji, and Deepaks another Guru, who he calls Acharya ji. Ask them. They can give you proper guidence. And what me and Sonu have said to you is based on the Shastras, not imagination.
