Navaratri represents celebration of Goddess Durga, the manifestation of Deity in form of Shakti (Energy or Power). The Navaratri festival or ‘Nine Nights festival’ becomes ‘ten days festival’ with the addition of the last day, Vijayadashami which is its culmination. On all these ten days, the various forms of Mother Mahisasura-mardini (Durga) are worshipped with fervor and devotion. (Ref.: Wikipedia)
The nine days are nine steps to moksha and the goddesses give us the power to find our higher self.
Navaratri is celebrated four times a year. They are Vasanta Navaratri, Ashadha Navaratri, the Sharada Navaratri, and the Paush/MaghaNavaratri. Of these, the Sharada Navaratri of the month of Puratashi and the Vasanta Navaratri of the Vasanta kala are very important. You can read more about this on Wikipedia.
We are currently celebrating Sharada Navaratri, otherwise touted as “Maha Navratriâ€.
Some of you may know that I am currently obsessed with Rahu. Two major reasons are: (i) I am undergoing a troublesome Rahu Maha Dasha (Ra MD), which is known to cause obsessive tendencies
For the past two years, I started fasting during Navratri for no reason… purely a “copy cat†version after seeing a couple of my friends do it. Today, I had an “Aho!/Eureka!†moment that if Navratri is a festival of Maa Durga is there any link between pacification of Rahu during this holy festival. Ahha, indeed it does… As Saindhaviji has pointed out: “Remedies come to you only if you are destined to benefit.†After researching for almost 5-6 hrs, I am posting this article in the spirit of helping others through LOVA. Views/opinions are welcome! (Information has been collated here from various sites+articles+books)
Note: I believe that one should not do any remedies with a sole intention of propriating a planet but rather with a pure intention of asking for: (i) forgiveness for present and/or past karmas; and (ii) strength to face the situations thrown at you.
