Upanayana muhutra - P Srinivas Rao Sir Question

Dear Srinivas Rao Sir
I am wondering if you know or have any experience in picking muhurta for male children to perform brahmopadesha. From what I understand astrologers in South India look for Guru bala for child (prefer for father also). And good dasa bhukti also for both. Any detailed process?? Please let me know or refer me to a good book (kannada or english is fine).

Dear Stellar astrologer,

Thank u for asking me the query about Upanayana Muhurtha. Here is for ur information---

During Upanayana Kaala, importantly to Vatu ( boy ) and the person who gives the upadesha should have GURU BALA.

In case it is not possible, atleast Vatu should have the Guru Bala and it is a MUST.

Chandra is Maatra Roopi, Ravi is Pitra Roopi and Guru is Prana Roopi. Therefore , whether in the Janma Jataka or in the Gochara, BALISHTA GURU is required.

ASHTAMA SHUDDHI IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT FOR UPANAYANA MUHURTHA. Meaning no Graha should be in 8th house to Upanayana Muhurtha Lagna.

Suppose Guru is in Karka rashi or Dhanu rashi in gochara and it is in Ashtama or Dwadasha from janma Chandra of Vatu, in this case , u can do the Upanayana and there is no Dosha.

4) Muhurtha Sanmarga Darshini in kannada by Sri K.V.Gopal Bhat Udupi

3) With regard to Dasha-Bukthi:-

as per my knowledge, there is no condition as such. Natural benefic graha dasha is always better during Upanayana Kaala.

Since Vatu is growing -up mentally and physically and this is transformation period , also the period of education and progress, Vatu will have Satwick Vichaar during this Natural benefic graha dashas period amd will lead Vatu to right direction. ( Natural Benefic = Guru , Shukra , Shuddha Chandra , Shuddha Budha )

4) Other Vichaars about Upanayana Muhurtha :-

a) Aswini, Rohini, Mrigashira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Utthara, Hastha, Chitta, Swathi, Anuradha, Uttarashada, Shravana, Dhanishta, Shathabisha, Uttara bhadra and Revathi-----are shubha nakshatra for Upanayana Muhurtha.

b) 2,3,5,7,10,13 tithi are ---preferable

c) Mesha, Vrashabha, Mithuna, Karka, simha, Kumba and Meena lagna--- are preferable.

d) Shukla paksha --is preferable

e) Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays ---are preferable

f)For Brahmins ----8th year
--For Kshatriyas------11th year
--For Vaishyas--------12th year
--upanayana has to be done.

g) Guru should be in 2,5,7,9,11th rashi in gochar during Upanayana Kaala.

h) Guru is having-----Rigveda Adhikaar,
Shukra is having----- Yajurveda adhikaar
hence, these grahas should not be Astha during Upanayana Kaala,

i) 4,6,8,11,14th tithi and Pournami, Amavasya tithi and Sankramana Day

1st tithi, Vyathipatha, Vaidrathi nithya yoga day
Upanayana cannot be done or Anadyayan thithi is not good for Upanayana Muhurtha

j) shani, Kuja , Ravi should not be in Upanayana Muhurtha Lagna,

k) For Upanayana Lagna , if Shani or Kuja in 2nd house--- Vidya naasha,
------------Do-----------------------------------in 8th hose---no improvement in life
------------Do-----------------------------------in 12 th house----Parasthala vaasa

L) If wife is pregnanat and she is 5 months old-- then upanayana cannot be done till delivery is over

m) within 6 months of Graha Pravesh--- Upanayana cannot be done

n) If elders died in the family, for 1 year upanayana cannot be done

o)If Upanayana and marriage take place in the same day, then 1st upanayana , after that Marriage can be done.

p) In case elder son havent had Upanayana ( due to some reasons ) the younger son can have Upanayana provided Chandrayana homa , Prayashchittha Homa is done before Upanayana.

q) while fixing Upanayana Muhurtha, one should also see ----------------Masa Shoonya, ashtama lagna dosha , Lagna tyajya kaala, adhika Maasa, Tarabala, dina shuddhi, Guru - Shukra asthangatha dosha, Tithi Sandi vichaar, nakshatra dosha, Vaara ( week ) dosha, Shoola-Dagda-Vaidrathi- Vyathipatha yoga dosha and Gandantha Dosha etc, etc,----

Many vichaars are there to say for Upanayana Muhurtha or about Upanayana

From what I understood during my childhood is that the upanayana muhurta is very important muhurta in life (even more important that marriage). I had the good fortune of muhurta picked by famous Nadi astrologer in Bangalore Late Shri Vishwanath (ITI Colony). The other famous Nadi astrologer in Bangalore still living as far as I know is R. G. Rao. The muhurta for me worked wonders...I will analyze and find out more. Thanks again and namaskara.
