Foreign Residence - One Last Clarification

If you look through the recent posts on foreign residences, there are many varied opinions on this. Some astrologers in this forum even conisder the 10th Bhava as the primary one for dettermining foreign residence.

This post is my personal view.

You see when you talk about life and death matters, markara houses come into play. So from the house of longevity or the house of birth, which is the 8th Bhava or 1st Bhava respectively, you take the 7th from it and the 12th from it. The 12th from any Bhava denotes the complete opposite. The 7th from any Bhava denotes the furtherst from the said Bhava so it is something which is the most different from the Bhava in terms of temperament.

Hence we end up with death houses as 2nd, 7th and 12th. 12th is only a secondary death house because it is 5th to the 8th house of longevity meaning that only if the 2nd and 7th one fail to find any death prognostications eg. because of planets' strengths, aspects of trinal lords etc., then we go to the 12th house to look further on the FUTURE of longevity meaning after you have enjoyed all your longevity given to you, what further longevity can you expect?

Same with foreign residence.

You take the 1st house of local residence (1st house now stand for a different thing). 12th to it would denote foreign residence. 7th to it also denot foreign residence but because of the opposition to the 1st, there is a line of signt with the 1st house and the person still remain in contact with his place of birth, an example of which would be the diplomat.

9th to the 1st denote anything foreign ie. not at the place of birt, which can help to support the life of the individual in his local residence of the 1st. The could be imported goods, the biosphere which we are part of of the global community, the grand ecological system, netowkrs of news that keep us informed etc. It has that connotation. So it can also include foreign travel, something which broadens our mind and will keep us afresh and alive in our personality. The thing is when Rahu becomes attached to the 9th, the person never wants to go back to his local residence. So Rahu with 9th Bhava also denotes foreign residence.

Now 4th Bhava is our roots. It is the 4th to the 1st which is our place our birth. Opposite our roots is the 10th which is our reputaion and career. When we are heavily involved with our career, sometimes we may need to travel often away from our roots. If the 10th becomes much stronger than the 4th eg. having many planets in the 10th, the person may take up foreign residence. On the other hand, many planets in the 10th can just mean that the person's professioal repurtaion has travelled far and wide over the earth but the person still stays at his place of birth. Usually fixed signs in angles including the 4th-10th axis, would denote only the second scenario.

4th Bhava is also the house that we live in. 3rd Bhava which is 12th to the 4th denotes moving of our house. If Rahu is in the 3rd Bhava, the moving of the house is CONTINUOUS as Rahu denote change. So there is more chance of going for foreign residency. If the 3rd lord is with the 4th lord in the 12th Bhava, it means the changing of residency (3rd and 4th lords) takes place continuously in a foreign land (12th Bhava) which means again foreign residence.

(NOTE : Everytime if you want to denote something signified by the (n-1)th Bhava, if its lord is together with the lord of the nth Bhava and placed in a “k” Bhava say, interpret that signification of the (n-1)th Bhava as strong under the context of the”k” Bhava. This is a useful general principle).

Hi Khoo,

Thanks for the interesting post on foreign residence.

I'd like to show this case study of strong 10th House/Lord, and 4th House, Lagna etc. in fixed signs, means the person stays in the birth place but their professional reputation traveled far and wide.

The person deals with foreign clients (income from foreign lands) but stays in birth place.

The person is staying at home is due to 1st lord sun placed in 4th house. His connection with foreign is due to rahu in 7th house denotes for business connection. Venus is in 9th to rahu, which shows that he might get residence in Rahu-ven period. This period will prove good for him. Moon is in 12th lord nak,it is its own nak. So foreign connection makes strong. Moon and venus is exalted in navmansha and rahu becomes vargottama. What is his business? Related to beauty products or any ornaments or gold, diamond, silver?

Thank you for providing your insights.

The person is dealing with foreign projects, not really Venus related work rather mercury related like Marketing, analysis, Planning, management of Teams etc.

Also note that the foreign business relation is more like employment and not partnership (as 7H stands for).

7th house stands for partnership aswellas business relation also. He is doing mercury related work but i think it is for his short term phase, After 2013 he will be involved in venus related business or job. Well, Give me feedback if it happens.
