Cleansing (gold) jewelry?

If someone gives you their old jewelry, and you want to wear it as a remedy, how do you cleanse it before wearing it? Is it really important to cleanse gold, and if so, is there a particular way to do it?

Thanks, aseem, I will try the incense and look into the other ways of cleansing as well. I have never heard of electric violet light for cleansing, so now I am curious as to what that's about.

Other is through electric violet light but one will has to learn about it how to project it.

The other is through incense exspecially sandalwood as it has many cleansing properties.
