Dear astrologers:

How can one get avastha of planets from Jhora? Which avastha is best and which is bad?
Suppose an exalted planet is in a bad avastha and a debilitated planet in good avastha, which gets weightage?

Go to strengths menu on top. on right hand side there is vimsopaka, dasavarga, shodasavarga. right click on that window to get the basic avasthas.

imo the first case should get more weightage.

Hi Kandhan:

Thanks, as usual you are very quick in responding.

Yes I got them- bala, kumara, vridha, mritha, - infant, adolescent, old and dead. I suppose adolescent is the best, is it not? In alertness, we have dreaming, asleep and awake. I presume, awake must be the best. in the mood, we have comfortable, sad, distressed, crippled, glowing etc. So comfortable and glowing must be good. But how do we connect this with the planet being exalted, debilitated and so on. If a planet for example is exalted and is dead age, then how much of its power is lowered?

AFAIK Kumara avastha gives maximum results. Mood is bascally the sign in which planet is placed: friend, neutral, enemy which , as you know, has direct bearing on results. one may take all these into account to give more precise predictions.

lets wait for other members to answer your questions.

Thanks Kandan.

Oh God, it is really complex. How to quantify each is the biggest problem I think.
Like we need to consider all these together
Age, alertness, mood of planet
Ucha, neecha and swashetra of the planet
Shadbala in the house
Astavarga for the planet and for the house where it is located
Bhavabala
Planetary aspects
Natural and functional malefic nature
Natural and functional benefic nature
Combustion
Planetary war
Placement in friend's or enemies sign
Placed in between rahu and ketu
Which gets how much weightage is the question? It is definitely very difficult, more than even science where some equations involve various contributions where they can be quantitatively predicted with some accuracy if not 100 % since they can be experimentally verified most times.
Yes, let us wait for experts to comment on these- which of these factors can be ignored. It is possible that some are of insignificant value and may be ignored then.

Sir

many astrologers can say a lot with just Rasi Chart. no need for even Navamsa.

one of my senior officers went to Jaipur on a tour 5 years back. there he consulted a road-side palmist who gave him a yellow stone for Rs. 50 after looking at his palm. my senior says from the day he started wearing that stone all his mental tensions had evaporated. it looked like yellow quartz/topaz to me- a semiprecious stone for jupiter.

Dear Kandan:

Yes, I also feel that the ones which are most important should be used for predicting, otherwise, it may get confusing. Even I have been asked to wear Topaz but I have to go to Chennai to get those.
I agree, even a palmist can say from the mounts which planet is weak and which is strong.
It reminds me of saying Too many crooks------. So it is more important to know the most important ones needed for prediction.

I have also heard astrologers saying rasi is enough but like in my case, when 7 planets are together, how will they predict? May be then varga charts may be used in conjunction for better predictions.

i stand corrected.

out of the five avasthas: bala, kumara, yuva, vrudha, mritha its yuva and not kumara which gives full benefits.
