I am posting a rather philosophical career question. Some background.
1. Education: Ph.D. in engineering.
2. Almost 20 years working in software/IT/research.
3. I have rarely enjoyed what I have done over the past 20 years.
4. I am willing to start from the scratch if needed, but I want to feel fulfilled by doing what I do.

DOB: 01 November 1981
Birth Time: 03:35 AM
Place: Haridwar (now Uttarakhand), India
As someone born on the cusp of Vrishchik (Scorpio - Lahiri, KP) and Dhanu (Sagittarius - Raman, Surya Siddhanta), I do realize that dealing with confusions and massive ups and downs has been a part of my life. But, as I am running out of time, I want to do something useful with these last 20-30 years of my life. Please guide me.

I rectified the chart and moved the Lagna to 6 degrees 45 minutes Virgo. It is arriving at D60 Sheetala Amsa, which refers to "Ganiko," involving research in mathematics, statistics, etc.
The current Dasha is Mars Dasha. Its Awashta is Mantra, indicating involvement in false activities or litigation, inattentiveness or drowsiness, and trickery in interactions.
My opinion , It is better to continue in the "Ganiko" research field in IT. The known devil is better than the unknown devil.

1. Ascendent or Udaya Lagna is placed in the Zodiac sign of Virgo or Kanya Rashi, with Lagna and 10th lord of Karma-Sthana Mercury/Budha being placed alongside in his Swasthana and Moola-Trikona. But then, he is posited in the Lunar Constellation of Chitta Nakshatra, ruled by Mars/Kuja... a top class malefic for the birth-chart, being placed in the 12th house of Vyaya/Losses.
2. Sun/Ravi, the signifier of Career Progression and Elevated Positions rules the 12th house of Vyaya/Losses. He is not really a benefic for the birth-chart. To make things more interesting, he is placed in his Neecha-Sthana or sign of debilitation and posited in the Lunar Constellation of Swathi Nakshatra, ruled by Rahu who has below par Vimsopaka Bala in Dasha-Varga. Sun/Ravi himself has very low Shadbala. Incidentally, he is also placed close to Mrityu Bhaga,
3. Moon/Chandra is also placed in his Neecha-Sthana or sign of debilitation and very close to Deep Gandanta degree.
4. Karma-Karaka Saturn/Shani-dev is also placed alongside Udaya Lagna and aspects the 10th house of Karma-Sthana. He is neither comfortable nor happy being placed alongside Udaya Lagna and can be detrimental for related significance... would have made life a bit of a grind.
5. For the records, you've been experiencing the effects of debilitated planet Maha-Dashas or time-periods since 2009. In fact, I'm inclined to think the challenging times started from the fag end of Venus/Shukra Maha-Dasha or since Ketu's Antara (since September 2008). Incidentally, Maha-Dasha of Moon/Chandra is inching towards the end.
6. Maha-Dasha of Mars/Kuja placed in the 12th house of Vyaya/Losses followed by that of Rahu is not really going to be helpful.
Given the situation, it would make sense for you to consider seeking help/guidance from experienced and knowledgeable experts for suitable Vedic/Dharmic remedies.

Respected Sujit ji, Prasanna ji - I ended-up resigning from my job last week. Please forgive me that I could not heed your advice. I don't have much of a plan for future right now, except just a vague outline. But, I have full faith that the force driving my soul has a plan for me.
