Xabi Alonso - football player turned coach has been very successful in taking Bayer Leverkusen to their first ever title in over 30 years. For context, he only joined the club as a coach few months ago and German league is dominated by Bayern Munich where they won the title in past 8 years.

It is an interesting chart and I share my two bits on it.
On the face of it we see a Debilitated Dark Lagna Lord placed in 5th. This alone is challenging is to figure out why he has done well.
Shashtras give two yogas to strengthen the Lagna lord. Parvata Yoga - when the dispositor of the Lagna lord is exalted or Own sign in a kendra or trikona. Essentially they are saying that the dispostors strength is derived by the planet rendering it strong. Here we see that the dispositor of Moon - is Mars who is involved in a Parivartana with Sun. This Parivartana is the salvage for the Lagna Lord Moon. Further if we see the D9 we find Moon in Own Sign which further strengthens this Moon. And gives it a full Neecha Bhanga. The Lagna itself has no influences - but we see a Paap Kartari or malefic flanking. This means that there would be pressures and conditions around his growth and early life may have been not easy. It also exposes the Lagna to injury, illness and challenges in life in some form.
Success is however indicated by Raj Yogas and other configurations. What do we see here.
Moon forms a 1/2 Dhan Yoga in 5th house.
Sun Mars for a 2/5 Dhan Yoga by Parivartana
Kshetra Sambandha - When a planet occupies a sign and is aspected by its lord. Here Moon occupies the 5th house Scorpio and Mars aslo aspects the 5th house thus creating a Sambandha and now a 1/5 Raj and Dhan Yoga.
The 5th house is flanked by best Benefics Jupiter and Venus blessing the planets and bhava for favourable results.

Mercury also occupies Pushkar Navamsha making is capable of giving good results. Lastly Mercury is well placed in 10th house in D10, with the 10th lord, making a powerful 9/10 Raj Yoga.and 5/9 and 4/9 Raj and Dhan Yoga with Saturn. So this not so extraordinary Mercury being an upchaya lord gives growth over time. Now also being the 12th lord acts as aneutral since its not alone the results of Sun and Moon Raj Yogas and the benefic flanking.
Thus his run in Mercury has been great and established him as a successful player..... Just my take on his chart.
