Hi Learned Members

I know in this astrological forum, most astrologer, if not almost all, believe that the 11th lord causes diseases. K N Rao astrological magazine website, on the other hand, has an article which praises the 11th lord sky high, with no downsides, which means the article does not view the 11th lord as causing diseases, if at all.

I believe that the 11th lord causes diseases (both lierally and metaphorically) , if there is over indulgence on your part on 11th house matters ie. the 11th lord is afflicted.

Otherwise no.

1th is the 6th of the 6th and 12th of the 12th, two negatives make a positive, so all dusthana effects are cancelled.

11th is the 11th to the Lagna. Lagna rules health, so 11th reprent gains in health.

But the 11th to a bhava, if proven too strong, can actually spell the demise of that bhava, according to Maj Rah Kumar, author on the book on divisional charts.

Thus over indulgence in 11th house matters can spell the demise of the Lagna.

One figurative example would be that when you become too even sighted (the 11th lord), leads to group think -where everybody think alike in any situation so that there is no fredh input from groups which may lead to different perspectives of a problem. This thus means the Lagna representing personality and independent thinking is destroyed.

Health is the ither issue that can be destroyed by the 11th lord. The 9th lord ruling temperance combining with the 11th lord is one way to save the day.

Dear khoo,

If 11th lord is 22nd drekkana lord too either from moon or lagna it can cause severe health issues.

hello khoo hock leon,

YOU WROTE:
" 1th is the 6th of the 6th and 12th of the 12th, two negatives make a positive, so all dusthana
effects are cancelled. "

Most of the people bring in this unnecessary logic about " two negatives make one positive ".
This is absolutely wrong. Only if you multiply a minus by minus, (in mathematics ), you
get plus. But , say in business, loss in one business and loss in another business does not
constitute a PROFIT. This is also mathematics.

So in astrology, please do not bring in such bad mathematics. What happens if both husband
and wife fight often ? Will there be peace at home ? What kind of children would they bring up ?

I am raising this point here because, many feel Mars in the seventh house of both partners
cancel dosha. It is not so. Here too many quote that rule of mathematics.

The 11th is a house of cure rather than disease. As such, unless it is associated with the Dusthanas in some way, it is unlikely to be a cause of disease.

Can malefics in the 11th house, unaspected, bring disease?

This thing about two negatives (dusthanas) combining to create a positive (non-dusthana) is correct and I will tell you why.

Your analogy of two losses from two businesses combining, it forms MORE losses even if the two businesses are part of a conglomerate (a form of company). In this case, the two losses are simply added up to form a bigger loss (of course the two losses must be expressed as a common denominator first, which is money).

I will give you another analogy, but instead of describing that analogy first, I will describe to you what it means to have 2 dusthanas combining, and why this tantamount to multiplying two negative numbers together.

All components in a vedic astrology chart stays. They never get destroyed in the sense that you can ignore their effects. A component is simply defined as any feature in a vedic astrology chart. Thus a component can also be any feature of a dusthana. In this case, the component of a dusthana represents an obstacle.

Two dusthanas can be combined in many different ways, like Venus ruling two dusthanas for a Pisces Ascendant. In our case here, it is about bhavat bhavam, like the 11th bhava is the 6th of the 6th and 12th of the 12th.

When 2 dusthanas combined, the component (obstacle) of the 1st dusthana places obstacles to all the other components (obstacles) of the other dusthana. This results in positivity. Apply the same logic for each and everyone for the other components of the 1st dusthana. Each of them would also place obstacles on all the other components of the 2nd dusthana.

This results in a BIG plus. And that is why Vipareet Raja Yoga is considered a Raja Yoga by well know astrologers.

I give you an anecdote in my next post. But at this point you should realise why two negatives combine in a multiplicative manner to form a great positive.

Now we come to the anecdote.

Assuming your company is tasked by the mayor to set up a one-day make shift stall in the county countryside to sell the national dish of the country to the masses.

It so happened on that day it rained so you are unable to sell the food during the day.

The mayor requested that you and your staff stay until through the night to sell the dish, and for the inconvenience caused for having you to stay so late, for each hour of the night that you manage to garner profits for the total sale for that hour, the mayor would offer you another equivalent amount of profit money. He would apply this principle for each hour that you were supposed to open during the day, had it not rained.

The mayor's new decision was based on the election voters writing to the county official, to have your stall open during the night, because they are afraid they would be hungry during the night, after the rain during the day. The election voters include those who would have gone to visit your stall had it not rained, as well as those who would not visit ie. stayed at home. Because EVERYONE would be hungry. They also wanted the mayor to double your profits, for every cent you earned.

So during the night which you opened, twice the number of people visited your stall each hour, so each hour you gained 4 times the profits that yould have earned during the day had you opened. You also opened the stall during the night, for exactly the same number of hours had you opened during the day.

This is an example of TWO vipareet raja yogas, one operating based on the actions of the on the mayor and election voters on the one hand requesting for the doubling of your profits, and the other due to natural law in which those election voters who would have stayed home during the day, now also turned up during the night to patronise your stall.

The two vipareet raja yogas after occuring, then the relevant lords exchange signs, coalescing the two situations (vipareet raja yogas) into one, resulting in four times of your profit.

hello divinity,

you wrote: " When 2 dusthanas combined, the component (obstacle) of the 1st dusthana places obstacles to all the other components (obstacles) of the other dusthana."

That is pure imagination. Why should one obstacle behave as an obstacle to the other ? the logic
doesn't seem to be right to ME.

KHL-

Sloka No.7 of Chapter 34 of Brihat Prashara Hora Shastra states as under:
“Laabhaadhidashaakaal Laabhovighno Athrogabhi”

Means that the dasa of 11 th lord will be gainful (Laabho) but it will cause obstacles (Vighno) and diseases (Rogabhi) also.
If we further refer to Sloka No.18 of Chapter No.34 of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, which is as under:

“Trishadlaabhagataanam Va Yutaanaam Tadadhishvareh
Sataamapi Na Bhognaam Twashubhdaamatah”

Meaning by that the dasa of the lord of 3rd (Tri), 6th (Shad) and/or 11th (Labha) and the dasa or bhukti of planet/planets joining (Yutaanaam) with the lords of 3rd, 6th, and /or 11th will be inauspicious (Shubhdaamatah). Since the focus on the 11th house hence from the above sloka it can be deduced as under:

That the dasa of 11 Th lord will be inauspicious.
That the dasa of planet/planets occupying the 11th house will be inauspicious.
That the dasa of planet/planets joining the 11th lord will be inauspicious.

Mantreshwara in his Phaladeepika, vide Sloka No.41 of Chapter No.20 states as under:
“Triveribhavyaay Dhapyanarthpradah”

Means the lords of 3rd (Tri), 6th(Vairi) and 11th (Bhavyaay) produce evil. Thus the views are almost identical to those of Sage Parshara. Vide Sloka No. 20th of Chapter No.20 of Phaladeepika the author further states as under:

“Shravanamshubhvaachaam Bhraatrikashtam
Sutarti Bhavavayari Daitya Vachchanam Karnarog”

During the dasa of 11th lord one begets evil news (Daitya Vachchanam). His co-borns will undergo troubles (Bhraatrikashtam). His offspring (Sutarti) will fall ill. The native himself/herself be miserable, be cheated and may suffer from ear diseases (Karnarog) Thus the author is more critical about the 11th house than the 3rd or 6th house.

The lord of 11th house or any planet posited therein or the planet / planets associated with the lord of 11th house during its dasa or bhukti is capable of improving native’s acquisitions to a better extent but at the same time during this dasa or bhukti the same planet / planets give difficulties, litigations and serious diseases etc. The tendency of giving such effects applies to the main dasa of any of three planets and the bhukti of the others. The careful study of 11th house reveals as under:

(1) The 11th house is 2nd from the 10th house hence it is a central point for one’s gains through the Karmas of present birth.

(2) The 11th house being 6th from the 6th house is an epicenter of diseases, litigations, punishments and debts etc. hence malefic effects predominate over the beneficence.

HOPE YOU ARE CLEAR NOW..

Joyd.

Oh yes, it is right.

The one obstacle in the 1st dusthana, places obstacles to all the components in the 2nd usthana. Because the enrrgy of that obstacle in that 1st dusthana is never used up, even after it has been successfully used to counteract the 1st obstacle in the 2nd dusthana. Thus it continues to hsve an effect on all the other obstacles in the 2nd dusthana.

Vedic Astrology is such that no effects however small in the chart, can be just ignored away after it has been used to target another component jn another area of the chart. Each component can be sub-divided into yet smaller components, yet their effects is never less. What ai am tring to say is whatever context which we are disvussing, we choose the appropriate size component for analysis. Bthis component will affect the whole chart but limited by the bhava's perimeter boundary which is not set up by men, but set by heaven. Effects under certain circumstances can also cut across bhavas when placements are combined with aspects.

Okay Joyd, ji.

Point taken.

But I feel that there are exceptions to the rule (although not strong enough to completely eradicate the evil of the 11th) like planets placed in the 11th bhava itself which Ravana tries to keep locked up for his own prosperity. But eventually he still has his downfall.

Bhavat bhavam principle do remove the malefic effects of the 11th bhavam to a certain extent which the authors of BPHS and Phaladeepika do not subscribe to.

One reason I can see why the malefic effects of the 11th are not completely removed is that even though it is 6th of the 6th and 12th of the 12th, it is because to take the the 6th as an example, the two 6ths mentioned in the dictum are not equivalent at par in strength so that one component obstacle of the 1st 6th, may not match the same component in strength in the 2nd 6th.

Transit of 11th lord over 6th house causes the cure of chronic diseases . The 11th house is said to be sarvabhishta sthana and so the dasa would do good only There is no logic in thinking that it causes diseases . Sarvabhishtams include health also.Whatever is given in scriptures got watered down in many cases due to intrapolation and we have to go by experimental research . 11 th is included in papadhipathyam becauses it contributes to the accumulation of material gains which was considered to be a hindrance to spiritual sadhana .

Contrary to what has been stated above by joyd and others, the general results obtained on practical charts are found to be almost always good. The sloka quoted perhaps refers to cases where the owner of the 11th also owns the 2nd, 8th or 12th.

Just an add on, 11th Lord & 11th house create an obstacle towards liberation! Since It is being 12th from 12th. As 12th represents Moksha. We may deduce that 11th denies 12th representing things thus Moksha.

With my personal experience, Venus is my 6th/11th Lord & also he is my Atmakaraka posited in 2nd house posited with Mercury & exalted Mars. Moon is aspecting from 8th. Presently I'm in Venus Antardasha under Mercury Mahadasha. Venus sub period started in 2016. This period is very painful to me. It is showing me hell! Literally hell from the middle of 2017! May be because of Ketu Raahu transit to Capricorn & Cancer respectively. As Mars, Venus & Mercury are in Capricorn. There are few health problems, but i use to recover within a day. But it gave me some kind of internal disease (not related to body)... an obsession :x

To add to all that has been said :

Generally dusthanas are places of entropy where mechanical useful work cannot be done because the system has declined into a state of randomness where the molecules collide with every other molecule in a close system.

6th is enclousure and tightness, 8th is deep cavity and 12th is wher everything become nebulous and swirl and swish around.

11th being 6th of the 6th and 12th of the 12th means that each molecule hitting every other molecule of TWO dusthanas (closed systems).

For 6th of the 6th it means the tightness and enclosures start opening up. For 12th of the 12th, there is head on crashing of the swirling and swishing of the windy psychical forces, which eventually result in clear thinking. The whole process of reaching the beautiful utopian state of the 11th can be lengthy or short - lengthy if the 11th lord combine with another dusthana lord.

So the 11th lord can be painful in the extremis in our journey towards perfection - being 7th to the 5th, it denotes sudden taking over of observer status looking from the outside unlike the 5th which is looking from the inside through the Atman.

A malefic in 11 th house contributes to material prosperity . But he causes some problem to the children or loss of children or abortions by aspecting puthrabhava directly . It also gives a sort of mental disorder depending upon the other contributing factors . Mental disorder need not necessarily mean high level of mental problem . Excess greed for money or possessions is also a disorder as it does not allow one to have good and peaceful sleep and to enjoy one's possessions with contentment .

divinity-tylo/-probe the 11th lord-11th house results in a correct way.For example-divinity quoted that "Bhavat bhavam principle do remove the malefic effects of the 11th bhavam to a certain extent which the authors of BPHS and Phaladeepika do not subscribe to.

ok -can you logically and astrologically proove your above statement with a practical chart that you have ? or shall i provide few charts from my client base?.After your analysis i am going to raise a few more clarifications from all of you.By the bye sages are always intelligent than us.

2-for tylo ji /Contrary to what has been stated above by joyd and others, the general results obtained on practical charts are found to be almost always good. The sloka quoted perhaps refers to cases where the owner of the 11th also owns the 2nd, 8th or 12th.

No never irrespective of the lordship.pl provide your practical example chart winch supports your views please..

please rember the chart that you are going to take for analysis must be well known to you and he must passed his 11th lord dasa .Dont select any un-known persons charts.why bcz you dont know what exactly happend during his 11th lord dasa/11th house placed planet dasa. people normally boasts their finacial prosperities/promotions and other gains during this dasa but nobody reveals their health matters to us.so your selection of the cahrt must be a near and dear persons one.Take it as an exercise on 11th house..

The 10th to a bhava tells a lot about that bhava. In fact, it can be taken as synonymous with that bhava.

For example :

10th to the 1st how people view your personality from afar without getting to know you intimately through close contact. It is what we call fame or infamy.

10th to the 10th is the 7th. It shows whether society consider you have made mark towards mankind in general, also depends largely what they have heard about you in the marketplace, which is the 7th. That is why each year, people have different opinions on who should win the Nobel Prize.

10th to the 9th is the 6th. People tend to gossip about those who are too pious or religious and think them weird.

10th to the 5th is the 3rd. Our Atman intelligence for tapping, requires som effort on our part to still the mind, and be aware that we follow the necessary motor postures, what we called yoga.

So how about 10th to the 11th? It is the 8th. When we are prosperous and earn high income, people tend to be jealous of you. They may assert that you are not doing your fair share of work.

So Caliber, I would say that there may be some jealousy amongst your colleagues about your work perogatives, redulting in you being passed over for promotion by your bosses - 11th is the 2nd to the 10th which stand for promotion.

Sorry, 10th to the 5th is the 2nd. When you dress well, speak in a well-mannered way, have a good attidue all round ie. good receptivity to all opinions that you receive, you tend to be more intelligent

But what I said between the 5th and 3rd aldo holds true, as 5th is the 3rd of the 3rd ie. 5th is the higher octave of the 3rd. But here 5th somewhst reduce the maleficity of the 3rd since one can solve problems with the 5th without much effort, unlike the 3rd.

@ joyd,

For one, I have only stated my observations over a number of charts that I have come across. I do not claim what I have observed should be the rule. And I do not save all the charts that I see. As such, I am sorry, but can’t take up the analysis of the 11th house as a challenge as suggested by you. If, in future, I come across variations to my general observations so far, I will definitely link up to your hints. Thank you.

Joyd Ji

If 11th house is disease causing and despite gains can be inauspicious then what does it mean if a person has destiny point in the 11th house (say in Taurus)?

Will their destiny be related to their gains or to diseases?

Kind regards

I am going through 11th Lord Jupiter mahadasha. Dasha has not been good from work perspective as I lost my job in Jan this year during Saturn antardasha.Saturn is also in 11th house pisces while Jupiter retrograde in 3rd house Cancer. In Saturn bhukti I also have health issues which were not there.

I would agree that 11th lord dasa so far is not good. What will be your analysis on this mahadasha and rest of it.
