Hi Dev,
Sorry for the delay in responding. It is based on my horoscope (with Mercury in deep exaltation as the 10th lord from lagna as well as the 9th lord from Chandra lagna) and that of some of my relatives / friends. Of course, the functional lordship is important...guess an exalted 8th lord must have an impact vastly different from an exalted lagna lord.
Exaltation in true sense

नमः शिवाय!
When a Graha is in its exalted state, we say that Graha attained Saatvik state. We say Saatvik only when it give up ego (i meant the Kaarakatwa that they give us is a pure form). So, why do people say exalted Graha is full of ego & debilitated Graha give up its ego, we say Saatvik only when it give up its ego. So, what is true?
If say exalted Graha is in a good house other than dusthaana. So what does it exactly mean? Saatvik?

If we take avashtas, exalted graha is considered to be in awakened state (which can be linked to sattwa guna) whereas debilitated graha is in deep sleep, which is tamas. I believe that is what Parashara meant in his chapter about predominant gunas in a horoscope, though there may be other factors as well, such as gunas of the signs themeselves throughout all 16 vargas.
