China Past and Future
The Peoples Republic of China was formally established on 1st Oct 1949 at 3.01.36 pm at CCT (h8E) at Beijing China. (39N55 116E24).
The horoscope has Capricorn rising with the Moon in the ascendant, Saturn the Lagna lord in the eighth and Mercury conjunct Kethu exalted in the ninth and Venus yogakaraka in the tenth in its own house.
China is currently passing through Saturn MD (Main Period) Rahu AD (Sub Period) which lasts roughly till April 2017. Jupiter is currently transiting the eighth from the
Lagna and the Moon in Capricorn.
Xi Jinping born on 15th June 1953, has Mercury, Moon well placed though the latter is conjoined Kethu. Jupiter aspects Saturn which shows a somewhat stable career, with no major or sudden disruptions. The time element is crucial and is not available here. Some probing is required. Suffice it to say that some major changes are indicated in the next two years which could present challenges and problems not anticipated at this stage. There could some loss or reduction of power though the time element will determine the exact extent.
Those who have commercial relations, or business interests in China are likely to suffer in a major way. This can be compared to the period in the 1950's or going back in history to
the formation of Hong Kong and the teething troubles in its early days.
Sat/Rahu lasts roughly from May 2014 to April 2017, after which Sat/Jup commences. Sat/Jup periods in many cases causes dislodgement and changes. It causes the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.
The transits of Jupiter and Saturn are moving towards
the positions in mid 1950's when China under Mao initiated the Great Leap Forward the anti-rightist movement of 1957-58. In hindsight the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution were retrograde steps with a small coterie beginning to exercise excessive power, to the detriment of the nation, and its neighbouring countries, before the advent of Deng (who
himself faced untold hardship and humiliations) and liberation of the economy.
The Cultural Revolution commenced in 1966 coinciding with the start of Rahu Dasa which began on Oct 1966. Currently the AD (Sub Period) is of Rahu and a more authoritarian
approach is indicated.
The AD (Sub Period) of Venus (Yogakaraka for Makar
Lagna placed in the tenth in its own house) in the Dasa of Rahu began on May 1978 coincided with resurgence of China as an economic force under the leadership of Deng. Venus as it can be seen is powerfully placed in the tenth house.
Jupiter is currently transiting Leo. The movement of Jupiter between 1979-1981 in Leo and Virgo brought a major shake up and the trial of the Gang of Four.
More details and clarity will emerge when we probe deeper.

Jupiter in the horoscope of China, is the Atmakaraka, (a) placed in the twelfth in its own house Sagittarius in the Rasi chart, (b) in the Karakamsa and in the tenth from Navamsa Lagna in its own house Sagittarius in the Navamsa Chart. (c) In the Dasamsa it is the second lord placed in the eleventh with the lord of the tenth Sun. Mercury the eleventh lord is placed in the Dasamsa Lagna.
Jupiter Dasa extended from October 1984 to October 2000 and during this period there was expansion and optimism.
It has been observed that if Rahu Dasa
brings in its wake problems and setbacks, the sub-period of Venus in Rahu opens avenues and horizons to circumvent the problems; fortuitous circumstances manifest and if the right efforts are put in, the subsequent Dasa of Jupiter will prove to be prosperous. Of course the relative placements of Jupiter in the Rasi, Chalit and Divisional charts will enhance or diminish the degree of positivity experienced.
Here Rahu Dasa starting in 1966 brought in its wake the repressive cultural revolution, when
Red Guards terrorized the streets, and prominent political leaders like Deng were persecuted and labelled as 'capitalist roaders'.
The sub period of Venus in the Dasa of Rahu (Venus it can be seen is a powerful singlehanded yogakaraka for Capricorn Lagna as it is lord of the 5th (trine) and the 10th (angle), and is placed in the tenth in this chart) which
extended from May 1978 to May 1981 saw the rehabilitation of Deng Xiaoping and the opening of the economy and unleashing the latent power of talented and enterprising
citizens, who had either been hibernating or had escaped to other countries. Deng championed the idea of SEZ's (special economic zones) and the emphasis on
light industry as stepping stones to heavy industry.
Jupiter MD (Major Period) Saturn AD (Sub Period) extended from Dec1986 to June 1989. Jupt/Sat period tend to be problematic and one should exercise caution during such periods. These
periods also help us pinpoint timelines which indicate strong storm signals allowing us to
exercise caution and take preventive measures.
The Tiananmen Square protests lasted from April 15th 1989 to June 14th 1989. To understand
the protest on has to understand the tug of war between conservative and liberal forces which have existed in all societies from time immemorial.
Although on account of the opened economy the standard of living had improved considerably, Deng's reforms were not without its critics and conservatives believed that the changes had opened the country to various social evils and an overall increase in materialistic thinking, while liberals were somewhat impatient with the slow pace of democratic reforms. The death of Hu Yabong a liberal political leader triggered weeks of spontaneous protests in Tiananmen Square. The government sent in tanks and soldiers to suppress the demonstrations and many western countries and multi lateral organizations briefly suspended formal ties with China under Li Pengs leadership.
The Tiananmen Square protests lasted from
April 15 1989 to June 4th 1989. The crackdown initiated on June 3rd and 4th became known as the Tiananmen massacres or the June 4th massacre. The estimates of those killed vary between 241 to 2600 and the injured between 7000 and 10000. On June 4th 1989 Saturn was at 18 degrees Sagittarius was opposing Mars in Gemini. Saturn was in Poorvashada nakshatra which is known for violent propensities.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tianamen Square massacres in 1989 and the excesses of the Great Leap forward between 1958 and 1961 indicates that Saturn's transit of Sagittarius from last week of October 2017 to the last week of January 2020, coinciding with Saturn MD (Main Period) and Jupiter AD (Sub Period) from April 2017 to October 2019 will a very problematic period for China, and
the weakness of its democratic institutions will come to haunt the country. There will be a churn and what emerges from this is a big question mark.
The tone and tenor in the period leading up to this phase is likely to be distinctly hawkish and somewhat anti-business. Liberal elements are likely to be suppressed further. The dip in the economy is likely to fuel resentments further, giving opposition forces opportunities to settle scores with those in positions of power. The positive fallout could be a major initiative against the drug menace plaguing the country.
The trends in the period between now and 2021 will dampen business sentiments further and result in capital flight and a fall in property prices.

T.S. Eliot. Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.

Haresh ji, I have just joined the forum today so I am still in the process of absorbing all the great knowledge that has been posted here.
I noticed you wrote about how the Tiananmen Square protests represent the struggle between conservative and liberal forces in all societies throughout history. I too have noticed this struggle occur over and over again. I like to think of this as the ultimate struggle between the Sun and Saturn. Sun representing absolute monarchy, the king, authoritarianism versus Saturn being the rule of the people, democracy, etc.
I also wanted to ask, in the news today we see more and more hints given that the USA and China are moving closer and closer to war. Do you think this is likely at all?

Saturn is in fact the planet of the masses. In the horoscope of most politicians it is found key houses. It is found the 10th house in the horoscopes of Lincoln, Napoleon, Patel, Kennedy (10 house; 11th sign) Nixon, Mao. and even in the chart of tyrants like Hitler. It is found in the 1st house of horoscopes of politicians like Indira Gandhi, Thatcher, Carter, George W Bush and in 2nd house in horoscopes of Gandhi, Nehru, Biju Patnaik Shastri etc. It is exalted in the horoscope of Shivaji, Vajpayee, Morarji Desai, Thatcher, Carter etc and in its own house in horoscope of Patel, Seshan etc etc. Sun of course is the royal planet.
The Sun and Moon are royal planets and in the chart of Queen Elizabeth the Sun is exalted and the Moon also a royal planet is in its own house. and Mars is also exalted.
There has to be some Sun element in the horoscope of powerful politicians because they also rule. Lincoln had the Sun in the 1st house, Shastri had it in the 10th house, Kennedy had it in the 9th house. Gandhi and Carter had the Sun in the 12th house and hence they were/are religious and spiritual.
Sun and Saturn are good if well placed and influenced by Jupiter. Vajpayee has Sun conjoined with Jupiter in Sagittarius with Jupiter in its own house. Shivaji and Patel both had Sun and Jupiter conjoined in the 7th house. Nehru also had Jupiter is Sagittarius aspecting Saturn in the 2nd house and also aspecting the 10th house. King George VI, the father of Queen Elizabeth had Sun in the 2nd with Mars in a friendly house ruled by Mars its friend and aspected by Jupiter exalted in his 10th house. He also had Saturn exalted in the first house and was loved by his subjects. The Sun when well placed in angles is good and in most leaders it is well placed .
The Sun never makes a. person authoritarian on its own. The Sun influenced by Jupiter makes one a strong, benevolent and a virtuous ruler. In the horoscope of Lord Ram, the Sun is exalted in the 10th and Moon is in its own house (with exalted Jupiter in Lagna) and in the horoscope of Lord Krishna, the Sun is in its own house conjoined with Jupiter and the Moon is exalted.
There are good kings and bad kings as well as good politicians and bad politicians. It is when Sun and Saturn are afflicted by negative influences that they are destructive as in the case of Hitler, Musolini etc.
The United States and China are probably on collision course, astrologically and in the aftermath of the ruling by the international tribunal, in The Hague, in favour of Philippines with respect to the South China Sea, it seems more likely now. Philippines and Japan are after all greater allies of the US and China is getting more insular.
Best regards,
