Hi Learned Members
BPHS says that when Sun or Moon rules the 8th, it is not inauspicious, which means it is neutral.
What happens if such a light goes to another dusthana? Is there VPRY?
I would say no, because there are no two -ves to create a +ve. It is more like a trinal lord with a lot of positive energy going into a dusthana which would erase -ve effects (and hence the whole situation would not be so dramatic like a VPRY), but in this case the quality of the +ve (ie. Sun or Moon lordship over the 8th) is only at the neutral level.
The trouble with the 8th is it has "holding the fort" kind of effects. When the lordship of the 8th goes to another dusthana, what ensures VPRY is that your endeavour to hold on to what you have which is the struggle would neutralize the other dusthana house be it 12th of loose boundaries which we can imagine as being evasive all the way or the 6th where one wears an impenetrable armour against the enemy's onslaught.
But if Sun or Moon ruling the 8th is not inauspcious, it mean when they are placed in another dusthana, there is no effort to ward the kind of evils which they find due to their placement, notwithstanding they are ruling the 8th. So I predict there may be some difficulties.
Readers are advised to test out this particular precept to confirm what I surmise through various charts they have studies through experience. Specifically charts of Capricorn Ascendant (Sun ruling 8th) and of Sagittarius Ascendant (Moon ruling 8th).
Thanks.

Hi Caliber
How are you? Have not spoken to you for some time.
So your son's moon has gone into another dusthana? Like what I foresaw the person with such a configuation would have some difficulties. So it proves I am correct. Such a light ruling the 8th has no fighting spirit when going into another dusthana.
But let's get back to your son. So has he been prescribed any remedies? I understand you did ask something about your son in another thread.

Hi Khoo,
My son has capricorn ascendant and his 8th lord sun is in 5th house with venus and mercury. If you can tell me what should be the effects based on this configuration, I can come up with yes or no .He is currently running venus MD and his sun MD will start after 5 years.

My son's 8th L Moon is not in another dusthana, but in 9th house. What I mean to say is that 8th lord ownerships of Moon and Sun are not neutral, but gives their 8th house results only.
At the age of 52, I think I have enough experience to say that the remedies will not help. I am continuing to do my regular prayers of two and half hours. Since start of Moon MD, my son is going thru lot of turbulence and we are unable to do anything. DOB: July 03, 1995. Guntur.

Yes.....Parasara has said that Moon and Sun ruling 8th is neutral. But he also said that 8th from Moon gives voyages.....which in ancient Vedic culture is interpreted to mean turbulence as one is away from the homeland always in a state of journey.....in the case of the 8th it could also mean spiritual journey via the mind (Moon) or if the Moon is badly aspected or dark etc.....it can also mean emotional turbulence.
But I would say since Parasara says Moon ruling 8th is neutral, he will safely get by the difficulties with some effort since the 9th is a beneficial house but then 9th has a lot to do with the mind too so a detailed look at the chart is required.
The three preceding houses of House A also trounce House A. Of these three houses, the 12th to House A gives the worst effect when placed in House A since such a lord signifies loss to House A. So in your son case, the Moon in 9th signifies loss in fortune and loss in all 9th house affairs......9th signifies a broadening of the mind to gain a social conscience but here the mind turns inwards......but much has to be seen on the aspects on the Moon and other factors like Moon's strength, where the dispositor of the Moon is placed which in the case of your son's chart is the Sun etc.
[Usually the 2nd to House A is the maraka to House A but here it is the 12th to House A going to House A rather than the lord of 2nd to House A going to House A. Also the three preceding houses of House A have more power to inflict harm over house A as they have oversight over House A. 2nd to House A also gives support if that House is in a good condition].
So your son's case needs a different interpretation using ideas different from what is put forward in this thread.
Have you tried Lal Katib remedies?

Hi Ashtalakshmi
Here your son's 8th lord Sun is going into a trinal house and not to another dusthana which may imply difficulties as this thread is trying to test out.
Here the 5th is 10th from the 8th and 5th is the natural ruler place for the Sun so the 8th house effects of the Sun would be practically negligible, if at all, whether neutral or not (the Sun's rulership of the 8th).
But Sun is in enemy sign with Venus (in own sign) and Mercury (in friendly sign). Thus one enemy and one neutral is with Sun. But Mercury and Venus are also brides of the Sun. With Venus Mahadasa now, he has gains in wealth and health. With the coming Sun Mahadasa he may even settle down or consolidate his power (Sun ruling 8th gives power, and although neglible as mentioned above, but 5th acts also just like the 8th being 10th from the 8th, although Sun in Taurus his power is less).

As I said in my post, remedies are not helping. We have done remedies to Rahu and also to all the planets. Absolutely no changes at all.

Wonderful ! Thanks Khoo for your insights. I found some of your insights on planetary combinations fitting perfectely with what I experienced already in life.I wish I understand all your posts but I can understand only 15%Khoo Hock Leong wrote:Hi Ashtalakshmi

Forgot to mention that his venus dasha is wonderful . Contrary to what I read , I used to wonder how a combust venus is capable of giving such good results overall.Even his combust and retrograde mercury has given him a sharp intellect and good communication skills. This is also contrary to what I usually read about combust planets.

Hi Ashtalakshmi
Made some minor corrections (very minor) to my reply on the reasoning, but the results for the prognostication is still the same.
The trouble is that Parasara Astrology is not only the only astrology available. There is Jaimini, Nadi, Lal Katib and Tajik Astrology too, not to mention Vedic numerology, Vedic palmistry, Vaastu and Hindu omens and superstitious. And of course there is the ancient texts of the puranas, vedas etc.
Glad that you like my posts.

Hi Caliber
For Lalk Katib remedies, the person must do it himself I believe, unlike remedies from other sources.
I have checked.
There is no remedies for Moon in the 9th for Lal Katib. I am using the book given by the Indian Federation of Astrologers where the remedies by Lal Katib have been re-edited by the author, sieving out those that are not practical or effective.
It is a pity. Sometimes even the ancient seers have missed out certain planetary combinations even for Lal Katib. They are actually very effective.
God Bless You!!!

Hi Caliber
In Lal Kabtib there is a section which indicate debt from past deceased relatives depending on the certain planetary combinations of the chart which means that because of something done wrong by your past deceased relatives, the curse befall on the current person. If you have not tried this before, give me your son's birth details and let me have a look at it.
Lal Katib also has some general advice, which though may not completely cure your son's ailments, may help to alleviate it somewhat in the background.
Thanks.

That may be true. Both me and my son have Sun in 7th house and seventh lord in sixth house. I had a break in my Engg when RA MD started and my son did worse during Moon-RA period.
My son: July 03, 1995 18.20 (Plus minus 10 mins), Guntur.

Hi Caliber
According to Lal Kitab chief significator of children is Ketu. For the happiness of family and children following remedies have been recommended. Every month make breads (Roti) more than the total number of family members and guests in your house and serve them to animals.
Every day before having food take out three morsels (Niwala) and offer to dogs. Have your food exactly at the place of cooking (it can even be an outside BBQ pit) since this would amplify Mars which would then in turn amplify Ketu and weaken Rahu (which is a significator for affliction in children being opposite to that of Ketu).
For the good health of children offer food to cows.
I will look into the part on the past debts separately.

Yes, Ganesha should also be worshiped. I think the prayer to Ganesha that touch on all the houses of the chart can be used......quite a famous prayer.....forgot its name.

Okay based on your son's chart, he has one debt.
Sun indicates self debt : When malefic planets are there in the 5th house, native is under the debt of self. The native becomes the victim of this debt when he insults the ancient traditions and turns into an atheist. Because of this debt, amongst other things.....
native gets physical trouble and faces a lot of struggle in accomplishing every task.
Which quite fits your son's case.
Remedy is to perform a Yagya on your son's behalf by collecting equal amount of money from all relatives. Only then he can get rid of this debt.

You can also strengthen YOUR OWN KETU since he is your son by doing the following :
Serve your nephew and also continue serving your son.
Keep the following things in your house which represents Ketu : Til (seeds of sesame plant), cat's eye, gold, sword, musk, blanket, sugar, mixed seven grain, lead and saffron, multicoloured dog (this kind of dog with several colours is the most representative of Ketu, a mixture of several shades, greys and colours - it can be a small dog like bischon or a large one like the collie)
Part of your food everyday (your own portion of the food) should be given to this multicoloured dog mentioned above everyday.
For improving relations with son (so that he is more responsive in your presence which also helps), you should offer blankets of black and white colour in a temple, because blanket is article of Ketu and temple is significator of Jupiter. The blanket should preferably be black saffron in colour.
Other articles of Ketu : banana.

Hi Caliber
Other considerations :
Your son should not buy a house in his own name because Saturn is in the 4th. How about inheriting a house from you... would that be considered buying a house? Well it is not from his pocket money (Lal Katib is very precise about such things), but just to be on the safe side, no house should be under his name. Can be held in trust by a third party so the name for the house is under the third party with a qualification legal phrase added that the house is actually held in trust for you son and the person is not to liquidate the house or if the person does, the money should accrue to your son.
For the Yagya mentioned earlier, remember to do it on behalf of your son....you know like the photo of your son given to the temple priest a few days before the Yagya and all that including giving the priest his name and whatever identification marks (which may include your son's articles) that the priest needs a few days before the Yagya.
Where is Ketu placed in your chart? You need to do remedies for your Ketu with placement in the specific house in your chart too since it is the significator for children in Lal Katib. For general remedies for Ketu, the actions to be taken by you have already been given earlier, so just this remaining bit outstanding.

12th house is moksha. 8th is the 9th of the 12th meaning the higher representative of the 12th. So 8th has something to do with moksha too in the sense that 8th represents multiple cycles of rebirth leading eventually to moksha of the 12th (12th is 5th or the future of the 8th).
Regarding your comments of 1 step forward and 2 steps backwards, there is some debt to be paid if Mercury and Ketu are in the 1st and in the 8th ie. either one in either house and both 1st and 8th must be covered.
Where is your Mercury found in your chart?
Another reason for the retard in progress, is as the gist of this post. Sun ruling 8th is neutral and being placed in the 8th is unable to overcome obstacles just like when Sun goes to another dusthana, the normal kind of VIpareet Raja Yoga, is also of no avail as Sun is neutral when ruling the 8th. So hence you feel the lack of progress.
Because Sun is weak, notwithanding the Sun and Moon conjunction when Sun is supposed to hold the Moon in his forehead (Sun is Shiva and Moon is Chandra in mythological lore), Moon also becomes weak too. And BPHS credits Moon placement in 8th (here we are talking placement and not Moon ruling 8th) as being always in the midst of a struggle fighting for survival too.
Normally Ketu gets on well with Sun, but Sun's weakness only causes Ketu to sting it hurting the Sun even more. Ketu and Moon are classical enemies so no ambiguity there.
To be continued...............

I would consider Sun+Moon in 8th as an inauspiciousness combination of a pair of auspiciousness planets. We would offer Sun articles and Moon articles to another significator object representing Sun and Moon respectively.
So for example, we can place Sun articles like wheat and red flowers in brass pots (also representing Sun) in your home. Put Moon articles like milk and curd in silver pots (also representing Moon) in your home.
Other Sun articles : red sandal wood, brown sugar (khandsari) and saffron.
Other Moon articles : rice, condensed sugar (misri), white flowers, white camphor and white sandalwood.
Ketu in Leo in 8th I would consider as slightly inauspicious since Ketu is well placed by house and sign and if Sun gets strong in the process, Ketu can be beneficial to Sun too. You should keep an article of a planet which is an enemy to Ketu (but make sure it does not harm Sun and Moon). But Ketu generally gets pacified when taught by Jupiter. It hardly has any enemy planets. Jupiter represents temple. So donate Ketu things like black and white blankets, musk, mixed seven grain, sugar to the temple.
In this case Jupiter also acts as a go between for Sun+Moon on the one hand and Ketu on the other.

Thanks for spending so much time Khoo. But please believe me, if something is written by God, we can not wipe it out. Planets will remain where they are in Horoscope and my experience says remedies may not work. Two of my known priests children are suffering the same way my son is suffering and they touch the Lord's feet every day and they also can't do any thing.
Once again thanks.

Hi Caliber
Jupiter is always required to make any remedies effective. Especially Jupiter in the 9th you should follow a religious path strictly, not so much going through every aspect of life in a detailed way, but with sincerity and devotion towards God, meditation etc. is important. Jupiter in the 1st one should avoid bad thoughts of others. Sun in 12th you should always forgive your enemies since Sun in 12th represent temples, the place of worship of God.
Some important things like thanking Jupiter just before you get out of bed, looking at your palms and having a positive feeling of God, wiping your face and then praying to your family deity, putting your right foot onto the floor when you step out of bed (which you should know) should be done everyday.
You must also get rid of dissatisfaction in your life, whether in work place or your general lot in life, and stop comparing with others. Meditation and reading religious texts with understanding are important too. Set aside some time for that everyday.
These are small little things which help.
Remember, only Jupiter has the power to eradicate bad karma in this life. And Jupiter wants us to cleanse ourselves inside as well and not just follow a rigid regimentation applying remedies or for that matter going through prayers mechanically (to what extent one can through mechanically of offering prayers ansd it still works would depend on how good a chart you have, if you have a bad chart then you need to do the extra bit). Remedies follow after the basic house is put in order.
I know you are a religious person yourself, but add in the extra "oomph" overall besides following the remedies recommended.
All the best.

Khoo, Jupiter is my 9th and 12th lord sitting in my Lagna. Even if I want to deviate from my Dharma, he will not allow it. I wake up every day at 3.30 AM and do Pooja from 5.30 to 8.00 AM.
What I am saying is that whatever we do, the planets will remain where they are in our Horoscope and they will continue to show same effects that need to show per their placement. In my experience, we cannot change that fate.
