Hi Learned Members

An article by Michael Laughrin shows that the better Vedic Astrologer is one who has a liberal arts education.

You may want to read the article in his website. This also ties in with Venus being in charge of liberal arts and Shoemaker's recent post on reading knowledge from the D9. If you look at the signs he delineated, Taurus and Pisces are the signs dealing with astrological knowledge where Venus rules and is exalted respectively. My Jupiter is in Pisces in Navamsa.

Although research in astrology is important as dictated by the planet Mercury, it is Venus that sets the pace on how the dicta of astrology is going to be interpreted whether by research or not. Jupiter wisdom also adds his input to the process on which tool to use in a particular query in astrology, not just based on Mercury's intellect reasoning but the appropriateness of a situaton eg. answering a querist on death related matters.

As AstroSonu once said, insights are more important than omens and omens are more important than the rigorous tool analysis. But of course the insights and omens must be the correct ones. So how do you ensure that? Analyze the individual's chart for his propensity for clairvoyance (Allison has an article on this analyzing prominent psychics) in the case for omens and for insight....well if there are MANY indicators in the chart pointing in the same direction that the person can have insights in astrology, not least the one discussed by Shoemaker on the Navamsa, then the probability is higher that the insights are correct.

Astrology is not an exact science and a spiritual science at that, and the truth of it can be found out in many ways, and for some people on Earth, they have a way to find it out through unorthodox means - no denying the fact. It is up to the astute reader (and I mean astute and not just critical for its own sake) to see the wood for the trees. Verifying is easy, only one way, and that is by results, and readers can do that on their own.

I don't know who this Laughrin is, but can tell you right off the bat, he is wrong. The better vedic astrologer is the one who is blessed with intuition, and is able to blend it with reverence and deep knowledge about vedic astrology.
