If the lord of an Upachaya house is Exalted, does this speed up the process of the house getting better with time?
Conversely, if the lord of an Upachaya house is debilitated does this make the house get worse with time instead of better?
(based on the theory that Upachaya houses are growth houses that get better with time)
Lord of the Upachaya houses

If you are talking about 3rd and 6th houses, it is debilitation that would give Raja Yoga and that woud of course speed up your process of attaining your objective, because basically you know what to do. The classics only mentioned certain Dusthanas incorporating this principle but there is an article by Mr Vaughn Paul which shows it applies to all including the 3rd. Plus from use through experience by me, Mr Paul and others.
10th can be considered an Uppachaya but the priciple governing its strength is more akin to that for a kendra ie. benefics exalted are good but not malefics. However malefics exalted do give strength though it may come with a bit of hardship (malefics in their own sign is a different thing).
How about 11th? All planets do well when placed in 11th. A planet exalted in 11th does extremely well materially. As long as the 6th and 11th are in good condition, results are instaneous since 11th is the expansion of the 6th - when you have work, you have income.

How about if 11th lord is also 6th lord like for gemini lagna, but if it's in the 11th in own sign. Thats a connection between 6-11, but with the 11th effect overpowering the 6th, so would that mean more easy gains and less negative 6th house effects?
And 3rd lord exalted can be great for media/acting/art types (according to a purchasable article from this site here written by marc boney + vaughn paul manley)

By the way the connection between 11th and 6th is not just that 11th is the expansion of the 6th as I mentioned earlier. 11th is also 6th of the 6th meaning 11th is also the bhavat bhavam of the 6th. Thus the connection between the 11th and 6th is very close.
GNE, as for your question what happens for a gemini lagna with ruler of the 6th going to the 11th in its own sign, you practically can overcome enemies and gain immensely. This is a VERY FORTUNATE placement to have.
Yes, 3rd lord exalted is good because 3rd has to deal with active problem solving. This is about this only Uppachaya house where both exaltation and debilitation works fine. Even Saturn here gives prosperity which is the exception of the rule for Saturn's placement in the chart even if it is a Yogakaraka or whatever. Rahu here also gives strength but bad for siblings. About the only bad placement for 3rd that I have come across so far is when the 10th lord goes to the 3rd (Venus and Jupiter exception) which does not give Yoga according to Bharvartha Ratnakara.

Active problem solving means sometimes you lead by providing strong leadership (exaltation) and sometimes by participatory management (debilitation).

What would an exalted 3rd Lord in the ascendant signify for a Taurus lagna ?
Thanks for the reply Khoo,
great info as usual.
I have gemini lagna with mars+sun + Rahu in 11th in Aries.
Sun is 21 degrees away from rahu, so not harmed too much. Mars is 4-5 degree away from rahu.
But anyway I was just wondering about mars being 6 lord aswell, and your reply was clear (and wonderful)
I can say it's so far been true to me, as any enemy has been overcome in a matter of days or minutes/hours even. ...infact I can't really think of any enemy-type of person that caused any issues in my life, I also gained from them....long story, but I've had people who oppose me end up being people who help me, or finance my projects , things like that.
I won't live to a mars mahadasha to see it's full effects (was born at the end of a rahu MD, and have no planets in mars nakshatra).
I also wonder what exalted moon for taurus lagna would mean, like uspa asked.
Since every taurus moon person would have exalted 3rd lord when looking from chandra lagna...
Thanks again

But the lord of the house must surely take precedence shouldn't it? Though all planets do well in the 11th house, if the lord of the 11th itself is debilitated one would assume that the desires of the native do not come to fruition and any planets in the house are blocked. Perhaps the growth of the house does not happen either?

Well the thing is Bharvatha Ratnakara says that any Moon in Lagna is a fortunate combination EXCEPT when Moon is in Taurus.
If that is the case, anyone with Moon in Taurus, and not just Moon in Taurus in Lagna, when you take Ascendant from the Moon, there is going to be a hiccup as far as being an effective problem solver is concerned, because when you take the Moon in Taurus as Lagna, the 3rd house would be the one as affected.
I have a past colleague who had Moon in Gemini in Tropical Astrology meaning he has Moon in Taurus (unless he is borned in very late Tropical Gemini) who is zero as a problem solver when new problems are given to him but each time he gradually picks up BUT he is never that active in seeking solutions to problems (both factors as a result of Taurus being a fixed sign and Moon signifies the mind).

I am also curious about this. I have 6th lord = 11th lord but debilitated and placed in 10thH in conjunction with 10th lord.

My chart has lord of 6th house which is Jupiter and lord of 11th house which is Sun both positioned in the fourth house.
What does this signify ? (Have Jupiter +Sun + Mercury + Venus combination in fourth house of natal chart)
