Dear Friends,

Which ayanamsha is very vastly used and gives more accurate dasha periods?
Has anyone used Fagan and Bradley ayanamsha?

Hi needybuddy,

This issue shoud have been ever since the birth of astrology. Two components are to be resolved to find an answer
to this mystery. The first one is the starting year of Zero ayanamsa and the second one is the quantum of precession
to be applied for a year.

That apart, when can one say that an ayanamsa is perfect ? What are the minimum conditions for one to accept
an ayanamsa ? People will certainly have differing opinions at this very begining stage itself.

You may try tropical too.

I am inclined to add three more, that I believe are related:

1. Definition of length pf year
2. Definition of "birth"
3. Geocentric vs topocentric

Hi lovacrs,

No doubt about the three you added
How complex it becomes ? Yet a few are trying to take biased views.

What some would call 'independent' variables as far as ayanamsha is concerned.
#1 is generally used for dasha lengths, but not considered in the 'annual rate of motion' of precession (Why not?).
#2 is of course a can of worms by itself and possibly goes back to scriptural times (e.g., bhumipatanam for kaliyuga births. Which leads to discrepant opinions about the date when kaliyuga began and also duration of yugas themselves)
#3 is a more recent curve-ball making astrologers lose hair as well (through pulling...!)

#2 and #3 can bring about significant differences, while #1 is cumulative as the nativity ages.
