Sayanadi Avastha question

I've read that If any malefic planet is in Bhojan avastha, then that planet will destroy every happiness of that house. Bhojan means eating and a planet is eating that house and it's significations.
It says so in the BPHS that malefix in bhojanavastha destroys the house it's in.

My question is, if a malefic in such an avastha is in a negative house , ex: 6th, could this be a good thing?

I have Saturn in this avastha, and am in Saturn MD since the end of 2011/early 2012.
However health has been fine overall, and there have been zero enemies...infact certain people that used to bother me before saturn MD have stopped since it began and almost have become ally's now.

Does anyone use these avasthas?
Or maybe I should just continue to ignore them (as I have been until recently when I was bored and decided to start reading some of BPHS again)
