Hello all,
I was reading else where about how retrograde planets get high chesta rashmi, and could confer raj yoga if chesta rashmi is high (over 10 they say) and in a kendra or trine house.

Anyway, I checked jhora (in the 'other strengths' tab, right click and select rashmi's...) and noticed there is a bunch..
uccha rashmi, chesta, subha, ashuba, and Ishta , etc.

I'm wondering which is most important to judge?

I saw something, though it was on wikipedia saying in the BPHS there are effects for the number of rashmi totals...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashmi_(Hindu_astrology)
(under "effects")

It is in the BPHS chapter 73.

How true is this?
and more importantly, which Rashmi (rays) are they adding up to get these totals?

I know this is a more advanced or lesser talked about topic,
hopefully someone out there can help me out.
thank you

Done some reading and it seems parashara is talking about the Ishta & Kashta rashmi ?

am I correct in thinking this?

and then if so, would it be the Ishta rashmi number that parashara is giving results for in BPHS chapter 73?
(because Kashta is negative , so the results are based on ishta's ratings being higher correct?)

or is parashara speaking of Chesta rashmi. ...but then how does he get to numbers over 20+ ? (I thought chesta rashmi max was 14?)

I was looking at this again today, in BPHS: " Ch. 73. Effects of the Rays of the Grahas "

In it Parashara mentions:
8-18. The effects, produced by the number of rays of Grahas, are given below. Between 1 and
5 poor and unhappy, even if born in an eminent family. Between 6 and 10 poor, carrier of
loads and without wife and children. 11 meagre wealth and few children. 12 meagre wealth,
idiot and wicked. 13 thief. 14 wealthy, protector and maintainer of several families, learned
and observer of the traditions of the family. 15 head of the family, achieves proficiency in
many kinds of learnings, good qualities. This is what Lord Brahma has said. 16 most
distinguished in the family. 17 employer of many servants. 18 maintainer of large family. 19
possessor of name and fame. 20 blessed with a large family and kinsmen. 21 maintainer and
protector of 50 persons. 22 charitable and kind. 23 well cultured and happy. Between 24 and
30 healthy, powerful, favourite of the king, splendourous, possessor of a large family.
Between 31 and 40 minister and maintainer and protector of 100 to 1000 persons. Between 40
and 50 king. 51 and above powerful sovereign.

For more information, check the chapter out for yourself (sorry, I just mean it's easy to find online. I don't want to copy and paste a huge post here).

my question is what rays are parashara talking about? the Chesta Rashmi numbers?
When I add those up, it seems almost impossible to get less than 30 or so. All my friends and family members charts reach 50+ ! even those people who well, not to speak bad of them but they are in no way "kings", or well off in any way...
But this seems wrong, it should be more rare, no?
I reach 61 in points, thats 10 more than the maximum mentioned here by parashara...

So I feel I must be calculating using the wrong totals (I've been using chesta rashmi in jhora)

Does anyone know which numbers (in jhora ideally) I should be checking for this instead?

Thank you!
