Rahu-Ketu dasha

This period started catastrophically and eventually became quieter and quieter. My marriage ended during this period.

But overall the period was quiet and not much happened. Ke MD or AD usually ends with a characteristic sting. The sting of ketu depends on the house, dispositor, and nakshatra it is placed.

Ketu in 6th house, Nk of Rahu, in Aquarius (Lord: Sa): Towards the end of dasha (sting)
- My father was hospitalized for a chronic heart disease and I was working mostly from hospital (12/6 - Ra/Ke axis activity at its peak)
- At the same time, I was also suddenly (sudden = Rahu) informed that my department was moved to Singapore and my job was eliminated (6H/Sa = service; 12H = losses; 12/6 axis activity high)
- Co-incidentally, I began with Ra-Ve and easily got a job within couple of months (not even a day's break in employment); Ju transit to 10H from Virgo lagna (3rd from Moon protecting 9H) indicates change in employment or promotion. My dad too recovered miraculously.



A senior member on this forum, recently suggested (post-BT rectification) that I may be Leo Lagna; so I tried to analyze classical Ra-Ke dasha sting by Ke in 7H; Nk of Rahu; in Aquarius (Lord Sa)
- end of marriage (7H; heavy karma paid through highly active malefic 1/7 - Ra/Ke axis)
- job loss = end of contract/partnership (7H)
- Co-incidentally, I began with Ra-Ve and easily got a job within couple of months (not even a day's break in employment); Ju transit to 9H from Leo lagna (3rd from Moon protecting 9H). My dad too recovered miraculously.

So actually both works.

I am currently in my Ra-Ve:
- I lost my dad and my job in May and June 2014 resp.

I am heavily researching on Ra-Ve dasha connection with (i) career ups and downs (something that even K.N.Rao had pointed out and here: http://www.lightonvedicastrology.com/ph ... =19&t=6519) and (ii) separation from son/father (commonly seen if Ve is afflicted or badly disposed or is somehow related to 9H).

I had earlier made a comment that Ra-Ve is usually good irrespective of the state of Venus. However, my recent and others' experiences is forcing me to study/re-evaluate this topic again.

If you could share your experiences for Ra-Ve.... I will truly appreciate! Thanks.

Karthik has very efficiently carried forward this thread while we were not writing here and I hope he continues.

Really sorry to hear about your losses in all departments in life (on second thought, perhaps I shouldn't be glad to see you here, because we mostly come here when we are going through troubles in life. Well, I too had virtually left LOVA for good, but came back when I faced trouble unexpectedly in my Jup-Moon period, something which I hadn't expected at all and so far there is no reasonably satisfactory explanation for it).

Your deudction that Leo could be your Lagna is definitely something to ponder about since it makes Ketu in your 7th house. I'll have a look at your chart again from this angle.

One thing comes to mind immediately - Mars aspect makes Ketu much stronger in 7th and therefore more malefic. Mars aspect also makes this chart Mangalik. Jupiter is not very helpful for Aquarius house, though Rahu in Lagna shouldn't be bad for Lagna. however, Mars association makes Rahu afflicted.

Please see this rule for Rahu-Ketu in 1-7 axis, which I quoted yesterday. I don't remember your Sun's position, so see if it applies to you. Rest of it falls in place in your Leo Lagna chart -

Considering your qualifications, I think it shouldn't be difficult for you to get a job again, especially in Rahu-Venus.

I remember Rahu-Venus as a period of financial gains, though with emotional problems. So, I don't exactly remember this period with fondness, but financially, yes it was a good period. So, you can expect a new job and increased financial gains.

I didn't really feel any "sting" of Ketu during Rahu-Ketu. I just minimised my interaction with people, had a viral fever for some time and became somewhat lethargic and decided not to try to go abroad - something which had been my lifelong dream (contraction effect of Ketu?). I picked up this dream again only during Jupiter Mahadasha, but by that time I had taken too many wrong decisions about my career in my Rahu Mahadasha and hence, it meant a long struggle to leave India. Now that I look back to this period, I feel Rahu-Ketu began this process of struggle by making me complacent, though at that time I didn't quite feel the significance of it. As far as feeling is concerned, I didn't feel harassed or troubled in Rahu-Ketu. Just too lethargic and inactive, which cost me later in life.

My Ketu is also in Rahu's Nakshatra and my Rahu and Venus are conjunct in Venus' Nakshatra.

I would also say that during Rahu Mahadasha I had a constant flow of money, while during Jupiter Mahadasha, I have gone through phases of excessive luxuries and comfortable lifestyle to being completely out of money and having to borrow from family and friends.

This feature of Rahu Mahadasha giving money which didn't stay after Rahu Mahadasha ended, I have heard from some others as well. I think it is because Rahu is a sansarik graha, while Jupiter is more inclined towards other-worldliness.

Rahu Mahadasha gave me materialistic comforts while causing other kinds of problems, while Jupiter Mahadasha has given me a more peaceful mental state but unstable materialistic success. I don't know which is better. I would like to have the best of both the worlds, without having to pray to God for one or the other.

My entire worldview is undergoing a process of change now.

Of late, I also see in me a growing interest in Ketu rather than in Rahu.

Rahu - Venus dasha: The Good, the bad, and the ugly

Firstly, I want to thank each and everyone of you for sharing your Rahu MD experiences.

As mentioned earlier, my views on Rahu-Venus dasha are rapidly changing especially due to recent setbacks. I was extremely close to my dad and to date I was never out of work (not even for a day). Sudden losses at both personal and professional front made me re-evaluate my concepts. This is what I had mentioned a while back:

Ra-Ke: Is always a problemmatic phase, tensions, fights, etc. increase during this phase. Native usually goes into isolation or self-indulgence.

Ra-Ven: This period, I have seen will always bring luxury and will usually be a good time irrespective of the state of Venus.

I usually prefer to give detailed information of my experiences so someone else undergoing similar challenges may relate and/or study the differences. I see some of you have done the same on this forum, which is of utmost importance to others including students of astrology.

I recently came across a similar experience by a fellow LOVA friend who has passed this dasha. He had similar experiences in his Ra-Ve dasha that I went through. See below (I have underlined the parts that even I experienced):

Below is my Rahu-Dasha experience posting here again as i had posted in a separate thread. I am posting here the main events without regards to the exact start and end of ADs.

Birth details :
DoB: 24-March-1977
ToB: 8.55 AM
PoB: Bangalore.

My Rahu dasha is the worst period in my life (till now). It started as soon as i completed my engineering (in aug 1999). I struggled hard to get a job for 1 year (till aug 2000). Then I got a contract job for a period of 1 year (till aug 2001) in a government research lab. From Aug 2001 to March 2004 i was jobless. I turned spiritual and even i got a very good guru also during this time. Even today i am much more interested in spiritual growth than in career. I got a contract job from March 2004 to Feb 2005. Then i got a very good job in MNC and i worked for almost 6.2 years till March 2011. During the stay in this org i went abroad during Nov 2005 to March 2006. Then started bad periods because of bosses and colleagues. I was not even promoted once during my stay there. Out of frustration i quit my job (on 31st March 2011) and joined another MNC on 18thApril 2011. Again problems started due to boss and i was forced to resign on 05-Jan-2012. So till now i am jobless and some small small health problems like migraine and digestion problems. Overall it was tragic days for me in Rahu dasha and i dont know what is in store still in this notorious dasha.

Please let me know when i will get a job. Also i observe there is parivarthana yoga between 12th and 2nd lord (between venus and jupiter) and this is very bad it seems. Any remedies for this?

My father suffered heart attack on 3rd-Oct-2012. Is this incident has anything to do with my Rahu dasha? Also in the job front, nothing is going right at this moment. I am doing all the remedies suggested, but still no improvement.

Your father's condition is not because of your Ra MD. However, transits on Oct 3, 2012 in your chart did show that some problems to an elder person in family. LL and 8L, afflicted by malefic Rahu; 9L and 12L aspected by 8L and Rahu which received neechbhanga from 8L, Mars. Sun was in 6H of chronic disease.

Job front things will improve soon.

Gains are away from place of birth.

You are correct in predicting regarding the job front. I got a job away from place of birth. i hav to join in Feb. i tried a lot in getting job in my birth place but i used to face peculiar problmes and if i try outside interviews used to go smoothly.
I just wanted to know whether in this job will there be raise in career apart from my own effort? Because Rahu dasha had created hell lot of problems.

My 2 cents on his chart (particularly in matters related to career and father's health in Ra-Ve dasha):
- MD and AD lords (Ra-Ve) in 6/8 position
- 9L/12L, Ju in exchange with 2L/7L, Ve
- Ve is vargottam and retrograde placed in its exalted sign.... hence weak.
- Sun itself is also placed in 12H and 9L, Ju is placed in Nk of Sun.

Dasha on Mar 31, 2011 and Apr 2011: Ra-Ve-Ve (Moola dasha: Ju-Ra)
Dasha on Jan 05, 2012: Ra-Ve-Ma (Moola dasha: Ju-Sa)
Dasha on Oct 03, 2012: Ra-Ve-Ju (Moola dasha: Ju-Sa)
Got new job around Jan 25 2013: Ra-Ve-Sa (Sa is 10L) (Moola dasha: Ju-Ve)

For the past couple of months, I have started applying Moola dasha concepts and I have seen that it makes more sense to understand why we are harrowed from all sides.

In D-60 (from Chandra Lagna)
- Ju is debilitated with Rahu
- retro Ve is with Mer
- retro Sa is debilitated aspected by debilitated Sun

Naga is no longer active on LOVA, so I don't much data to relate but I wonder how his Ra-Ju-Sa and Ra-Ju-Ve periods.... if you see that he was jobless during majority of his Ra-Ju and only got a job towards the end. Ra-Sa gave him stability in his career which lasted till mid of Ra-Ve.

BHPS also states that Ve in 6,8,or 12 than in Ra-Ve possibility of financial losses and separation from son/father

Naga's Ve is in 12H and MD/AD relation is 6/8
I still believe I am Virgo lagna so in that case: my Ve is in 5H and MD/AD relation is 6/8 making it a difficult period.
If I am Leo Lagna: Ve is in 6H and MD/AD relation is 6/8 validates dictum.

Others please share your thoughts.

I think it also depends upon where our Rahu and Venus are.

In my case, no, I wasn't spiritual at all during Rahu-Venus, nor knew anything about astrology, nor cared about these things. My financial situation certainly improved during this time. I went through a bad time on personal front and hence, don't think of it as a good period. But materialistically speaking, it was my good period and no spiritual enhancement for me.

No problem for my father either during this period.

My Venus aspects my Lagna and Rahu is in Venus' Nakshatra. So, you can see the materialistic advancement part of my Rahu-Venus. If we could see Naga's chart, we can understand this better.

Regarding Naga's chart, I think his career and father's health problems had more to do with Ketu's Taurus transit in 2nd house of family and wealth in his Moon and Lagna chart than to anything else. I think his Rahu is benefic and he got good MNC jobs because of Rahu Mahadasha.

My Rahu-Ve dasha was quite favorable for me sort of sudden boost (life turning) in my career. But last 3 years has really been not good and made me really slow/inactive. But, suddenly for the last 1 month I am getting restless, frustrated and sometimes really depressed. Recently some of the job opportunities came too close and slipped. Please help me as to what is going on here? Given that I am running Sa/Sa, when can I see some respite? And, I want to know whether Rahu and Saturn are favorable or damaging for me overall (since Sa MD is going to be around for long time). Thanks.
