As I understand it͵ it needs to be seen from both͵ but results would be “felt“ more when seen from the Moon.

It is an option open for
both an astrologer and
the native.

Sometimes both of them may fail
then we may look for most powerful rasi
indicated by either (i) popular name or (ii) family name

Hari,

I also heard an astrologer explaining on youtube that effects of a transit should be seen from both, Lagna and Moon. For example, current Jupiter transit in Cancer is supposed to be excellent for Scorpio sign as it will transit their 9th house, however for Sagittarius it is not supposed to be good as it transits 8th house. Therefore for someone with Scorpio ascendant and Sagittarius moon sign the result of the jupiter transit would be average or mixed.

Thats true . Not one but every site claims that for Scorpios will do well . But its the Dasha combinations with antardashas which increase/reduce the effects , or are the major determinants .

Vsvs,

I know a couple where the wife is Scorpio moon sign as well as Scorpio Lagna and the husband is Sagittarius moon sign with his Moon in 8th house. Twelve years ago, during Jupiter's transit in Cancer both of them went through an extremely tough period because of a life threatening illness faced by the husband. Now according to general predictions, the wife should've had a great time due to Scorpio Lagna and Moon in Lagna during Jupiter's 9th house transit. But obviously lots of other things, as you have mentioned, like dashas, take higher priority and they overrule transits.

Frankly there's far too much complexity in reading charts . Certainly several aspects lead to a firm answer ... but as ordinary people , there's hope that transits will lead to positivity .
Being a Scorpio Moonsign + Libra Ascendant , theres hope for the BETTER.
But frankly there's one certainty , that my tough period coincided precisely when jupiter entered Gemini last year.
Well if this was true last year , it was for all Scorpios .... I defintely hope that there will be some relief as well in this transit .
Whether that happens or not .. only time will say .. or certainly will get to know in next few days/weeks .
Lets see which way the ways of destiny lead ...

I too have a complex combination of Sagittarius lagna and Capricorn Moon. So at least theoretically͵ most transits should give me mixed results. My Ashtama Shani period͵ when I had no inkling or interest on astrology͵ went on like a breeze. True͵ I was benched at work͵ but enjoyed the bench period attending to personal matters without a care. Given all this͵ I now restrict myself to learning only whether a dasha/antardasha/transit needs some simple upaya like reciting a stotra/mantra͵ and then perform it without bothering about the intricacies of the transit.

Hello,

Results from moon lagna, 1st house ascendant are different. So you have to combine both the predictions and also take into consideration the results of Dasha and bhukti.

Ideally they're viewed from Moon sign. However, it is so said that which ever of Moon Chart or Rasi chart is stronger becomes the lagna to view transits; like somebody mentioned above.
I prefer studying them from the Moon sign, however, I find it difficult to ignore looking at them from Rasi Chart. Not to mention that their is a system called Ashtakavagra which some believe is a super set of gochar.

Transits however dont override dasas and dasas dont override the main rasi chart at birth.

from K N Rao's book (Astrology , destiny and the wheel of time)

Transit are to be seen from:

a) The lagna first

b) From the Moon ( as moon stays in house for 2.5 days it is doubtful examining transits from moon alone is correct approach)

c) Examine how MD lord and AD lord are placed in transit from lagna

Though I'm a learner, thought of registering my opinion. We also need to see where transiting Jup is w.r.t natal planets especially natal MD lord.
