Hi Learned Members

Parasara (classic) astrology says planets moving towards exaltation points get considerably stronger. One also has to look at the dispositor planet to see how good and exalted planet is. Exalted planets if aspected by friendly signs get a powerful good Yoga. Generally they need to be tempered by planets in debilitation also (not all clasics agree with this last point, however).

Nadi Astrology :

Planets in exaltation are of no avail if the planets are in the company of two or more enemies. The condition of the planet turns sour. (Nadi's table of planetary friendships is different from that of Parasara).

11th to a planet is beneficial for that planet even if a planet in that 11th position, if it exists, is not well placed by sign.

Planets in own signs is VERY GOOD. They give benefits to the overall chart, making the chart stronger for good than
evil. One possible reason why this is so because the soul (sign) and the doer (planet) is in synch.

Nadi also agree that the planet just about to enter the exaltation sign is good. But Nadi also said that planet who has just passed through the exaltation sign is also good. It is as if the planet has gone for a cleansing. Similarly a planet that has just passed out from a debilitation sign still has not completely washed out the dirt out of himself.

Exchange of planets is recognised by classics as a Raja Yoga. Nadi goes one step further and says that planets in exchange is tantamount as putting the them in their own respective signs. Example, Moon in Pisces and Jupiter in Cancer means, Jupiter in Pisces and Moon in Cancer as a final outcome of things as they stand signified by the planets. Thus the result is good.

In Nadi, planets in retrogade gets placed in the previous sign, unlike what is generally agreed in this forum, which is that planets do not get placed in the previous sign. What is the previous sign, the interpretation comes AFTER, from the interpretation of the planet placed in the current sign. Saturn is an exception.

Planets which become exchanged after being placed in the previous sign, the sign the planet is placed after the exchange which would be the planet's own sign, that is the FINAL OUTCOME of the result of the things signified by the planet.
(This point is about a planet that is retrogading and ends up participating in an exchange after being placed in the preivous sign due to retrogading).

Nadi exalts the exaltation signs of planets to a very high degree. In fact interpretations can be drawn if an enemy planet is placed in a planet's exaltion sign leading to very bad results. Friendly planet in a planet's exaltation sign boosts that planet's power several rung of steps up the ladder.

Because Nadi emphasizes on the natural rulership of planets rather than their functional rulerships, a planet well placed in its own sign or exaltation sign, is considered to be phenomenal, PROVIDED it is not with enemy planets.

The retrograde planet moving to previous sign is a concept in Nandi Nadi (if I remember correctly) & ought not to be mixed with Parashari. I think it is also only relevant to the transit & not to the natal chart, however I am not fully sure of the transit part. Similarly considering exchange of planets as if they have physically exchanged positions should be interpreted with results given for that System of Astrology only (not to be mixed with Parashari results). This is akin to not mixing nadi planetary friendship with that of Parashari. Otherwise inconsistencies will occur.

Sir
I have retro jupiter in my chart and I have seen its effects at the time of operating dasha, ketu - jupiter., aug '12 to july ' 13 It was the worst and disastrous time of my life, the complete one year( but it has saved me from life long sufferings)

After my ketu jupiter I have turned into a more spiritual n religious person.
The concept of retro planet giving results of the previous sign holds true in my case, during transit and operating dasha, plus its my atmakarka too.

Would Nadi count the following as an exchange then? :

Venus retro in Pisces - thus in previous sign it is in aquarius.
Saturn retro in scorpio - thus in previous sign it is in Libra.

so counting retro from previous sign, we have Venus in Saturn's sign and Saturn in Venus's sign.

Sweenym ji,

Jupiter Ketu dasha may / may not mean spirituality, even Jupiter in (or aspecting) 9th house or with (or aspecting) Ketu doesn't mean that. And Atmakaraka is not to be mixed with Moon based Dasha. This is a step towards justifying anything in Astrology in 60 seconds.

Yes, I understand what you say sir. And if its not ketu - jupiter dasha which is responsible for triggering the spirituality than what it is ?
And how can we apply the concept of retrogression with dasha and transit while predicting some event.

Please excuse me in case of any mistake as I am just a beginner trying to learn astrology.

sweenym

Before I analyzing your chart through Nadi, your gender is more important. Could you furnish details.

Your Parashari dasa defined Guru and Ketu, placements of these grahas needs to be considered.

Sweenym ji,

As you know several combinations exist for spiritual inclination. Although many of us who think we are spiritual are usually just doing spiritual shopping (which defeats the definition of spirituality). Anyway at a macro level the sub period of 8th lord in 10th house seems to have given you set backs which is what 8th lord in 10th does (If the 8th lord is in the 10th the native will be devoid of paternal bliss, be a tale-bearer and be bereft of livelihood). And because it was Jupiter so it did it in a Jupiterian manner with learning & inclination towards spirituality.

Few pointers towards retrogression in Pararshari:

1. Retrograde planets give their results towards the end of their MD if they are in first drekkana, and at the beginning if they are in the last drekkana
2. Retrogression gives added strength to a planet (i.e. more Shadbala) to be able to give its result
3. Benefics do better when retrograde
4. Malefics do worse

#3 & 4 are somewhat questionable as there are conflicting views in texts about the same. There is also a view in Uttarakalmrita that exalted retrograde planet behaves as debilitated & vice versa. This is also questionable.

Other views from other offshoot texts based of Parashari style Astrology:

- Retrograde planet if it physically moves to the previous sign then it still gives results of the sign in which it begun its retrogression, otherwise not
- Moon hemmed between retrograde planets also behaves as if it were retrograde (strange)
- Retrograde Mars gives the results of 3rd house from the house it occupies, Mercury the 4th, Jupiter 5th, Venus 7th house & Saturn 8th (nice)
- Retrograde Jupiter gives results of the house it occupied at birth, rest give the results of the house in which they began retrograding

Now if we start to apply all these views, they will all work when used in a vague, subjective manner. But then who are we kidding than ourselves? Which is why it is best to stick to the basics. Let us really understand them first & then get into these other views. Sure at times one will not be able to explain an event but dig more with sound basics & more often than not it will reveal itself. Even if not, that is OK. Its better than working with alternative views until the primary ones are understood. The above views are confusing enough to mix a set of views from other systems.

Thank you for answering my question rathore sir, I will remember to follow basics( and know them clearly beforehand too :) )

I too doubt my spirituality when I am driven by anger. But thn I have just started, I ll practise it to take it up.

One more thing,
What does " tale- bearer " mean , is it really possible or we apply it contextually, n how ?

Sweenym ji, talebearer means not keeping secrets or gossiping a lot. But that result will come to pass prominently if 2nd house, its lord are afflicted OR if there are yogas pertaining to the same. Otherwise it will be mild or not noticeable at all. Many of us are talebearers anyway, so yes it is a context thing.
