Can someone please help me with how to read a Transit Chart. I have attached mine. Does this chart show that Venus is transitting in Sagittarius over my 3rd house and Jupiter is Transiting in Gemini over my 9th house ? Or am I reading this wrong ? Please help……

I prefer reading transits from the d1 lagna if I want to study the long term effects of a transit- but just reading the transit by overlapping the transit chart isn't enough. There are different tools to evaluate how benefic a transit is going to be. Also its important to understand that - the longer a planet remains in a house the stronger its effect will be during that transit, slow moving planets like Jupiter and Saturn have a bigger effect.
Astakavarga can be applied to evaluate the transits, but this isn't the only method.
Taking your ascendant as an example let's say you want to know the effects of Jupiter transiting your 7th house.
1. Check the astakavarga points for Jupiter in the 7th house. Its 4 in your chart
2. Multiply that with Sodhya Pinda of Jupiter (98). So 98x4 = 392
3. Divide the number by 12.
4. Reminder is 8
5. Count 8 signs from Aries - in your case its Scorpio.
So Jupiter in the 7th house from ascendant gives the results of the 12th house. This way you can calculate it for other planets and houses.

Ellipsis ji, are Sodhya pinda for the planets are different for each person or its common for everyone?elipsis wrote:I prefer reading transits from the d1 lagna if I want to study the long term effects of a transit- but just reading the transit by overlapping the transit chart isn't enough. Its different for each individual. Do not use this AV method without considering the earlier method (about opposing and conjunction transits) which i wrote in a different thread.

Okay Ellipsis ji, I understand that the earlier method has its significance in weighing a transit along with this method.elipsis wrote:Its different for each individual. Btw, if you don't mind can you teach us how to calculate Sodhaya pinda for each planets?
When I searched for it, I got to see this but I am unable to understand it fully.

What is that earlier method can you please share the link.
Ashtalashmi,
We can find the values of shodhya pindas for all the planets in jhora.
Check this- Basics tab-> on the rightmost corner you ll see the SAV-BAV for each house etc. -> right click on that section and select show Shodhya pindas

ashtalakshmi, explaining AV concepts will take very long, but you can get shodhya pinda through Jhora ( http://imgur.com/rQev6ew )

Looks like this happens only for me
No problem.
If remainder is 0 then count 12 houses (Pisces).

Hi elipsisji
- loss in 7th house matters? Partnership, business or relations etc
- or foreign travel
- Do we need to consider the lordship of jupiter here?
Please explain how should one interpret this, elipsis wrote:I prefer reading transits from the d1 lagna if I want to study the long term effects of a transit- but just reading the transit by overlapping the transit chart isn't enough. This method is only a piece of the jigsaw, in a different thread I have explained how when transit Jupiter or Saturn makes an opposing aspect over the natal planet they create all sorts of obstacles or turbulent periods in life. So after checking this you see whether the Astakavarga point distribution in the relevant house is good enough to mitigate any negative consequences. Using astakavarga transit method you have to check the Lordship of Jupiter but using only transit method the Lordship isn't required. In uspa's chart, the reminder is 8 - which is Scorpio and 12th house for Sagittarius ascendant, so the transit Jupiter over the 7th house shows some foreign relations (business, academic or private) or loss or relations (if Av point is below 4), it can indicate foreign spouse or travel too (4L in 12).Sweenym wrote:Hi elipsisji

Rahu's transit over natal planets will amplify planetary effects (good or bad), its generally preferably for Rahu to transit over Venus because that creates "wealth opportunities" depending on how well Venus is associated with other planets. Opposing aspect (7/7) of Rahu over natal planets can be very bad, remedies are recommended during this transit.prakhs123 wrote:elipsis sir, can you tell us how you predict rahu ketu transit.
If you want you can take my example.
Libra Ascendent, Ketu Antradasha, Rahu Ketu on 1-7 axis in transit chart.
My Birth Details:
17th April 1992
7:18 pm IST
Raipur, Chhattisgarh (21°14'N & 81° 38'E)

We use the remainder for checking the house. Say for same sagi lagna. We get 6 as remainder then transit will show the results of 10th house.
Thank you elipsisji.
Elipsis Sir, using the ashtakavarga method suggested. Depending on sodhya pinda number it could be very well possible that Jup or Sat transiting a particular house would give the effects of only specific houses from lagna. For example, if Jup has 4 BAV points in half of the houses and if the remainder is zero, then it would mean Jup will give the house effect signification of pisces during most of its transit. Is this fool proof? Forgive my ignorance if wrong.
Nothing is fool proof- astrology is all about probabilities. Simple techniques work in general.
In ashtakavarga the reminder is far more important than the transits themselves. If the reminder impacts 12th house from ascendant then transits should be seen from that house, this is similar to bhavat bhavam principle. If the transit is on 7th and reminder is on 12th, then results will be equivalent to 12th lord on the 7th or 8th house from 12th- whether good or bad depends on the number.
The zodiacal signs are different altogether - each sign is given a Lordship because those are the signs in which a planet will find it natural to operate. Venus is for wealth and marriage because it rules taurus (2) and libra (7) - those are the signs where Venus is most comfortable as it has the easy access to right environment, it doesn't have to work overtime to get anything that's missing where as in other signs it does struggle which translates into hardships. So signs have very little to do with house Lordships from ascendant.

Suppose if lagna is Pisces and Jup transits Cancer and the remainder is 10. So we should take it as 11th lord in 5th without considering 1st and 10th house ownership of Jup - right? And if the ashtavarga score is say 5 then we can predict good gains that too from speculation?
