Hi Learned Members
Now we know Mercury is the friend of the Moon and Moon is the enemy of Mercury.
For various Ascendants, this means the house where the Moon rules always triumps the houses which Mercury rules. Because Mercury is forced to support the Moon.
If in the chart, if there is any linkage between Moon and Mercury, the effects become more pronounced.
For example :
Aires Ascendant - Emotions get the better of the person when the person writes (3rd house) or doing analytical work (6th house).
Taurus Ascendant - The person always negotiate from a position of might (3rd house). That is his primary concern. He gives more priority to that than even his behaviour (2nd house) including giving caustic speech when he has to. His intelligence (5th house) may also be compromised.
Gemini Ascendant - The person is attracted to others with polish speech, elegant dressing and born of a good family background. This can override his karma concerns (10th house) or even his own needs and can elcipse his personality (1st house).
Cancer Ascendant - The person is king as far as spirituality towards Moksha (12th house) or writing (3rd house) is concerned.
Leo Ascendant - Spirituality as in contemplative meditation (12th house) takes centre stage over material things (11th and 2nd house).
Virgo Ascendant - Gains to the person (11th house) is more important than his karama (10th house) or his own needs and personality (1st house). This means the person will ingratiate himself to get gains and more gains.

Libra Ascendant - The person's reputation is of paramount importance (10th house) over his spirituality needs (9th and 12th houses).
Scorpio Ascendant - External spirituality (like consulting fortune tellers) and penance (9th house) takes centre stage over inner spirituality to achieve breakthrough (8th house) and gains (11th house).
Sagittarius Ascendant - Inner spirituality (8th house) is of prime importance to the person over his career (10th house) or public relations (7th house). This shows the person always depends on himself in times of crisis with people or occupation.
Capricorn Ascendant - His image to the world (7th house) is more important than the nitty gritty details of his work (6th house) or external spirituality (9th house). This shows up as someone whose personal philosophy of life is standing on a weak foundation (in the 7th house where Venus is karaka, anything can change at the moment, Venus is a demon preceptor and also 9th house is the house of philosophy).
Aquarius Ascendant - Work is of prime importance to the individual (6th house) over children (5th house) or inner spirituality (8th house). The person has no time for 5th and 8th house matters when there is work around the corner.
Pisces Ascendant - The person uses his intelligence to the fullest (5th house) regardless of integrity (4th house) or even if his public image suffer as a result (7th house).

Hi Khoo,
What would happen if mercury is in moon's sign, but the moon is debilitated in the overall chart? Do the effects remain the same? What effect would the overall lordship of the house have on spirituality of the person?
Thanks,

Hi Anugeet
If Mercury is in Moon's sign, Moon would have even more control of Mercury.
Moon is more spiritual than Mercury so the person spirituality is intact but Mercury can be very spiritual also if found in 9th or 12th related to the fact that Mercury is in Jupiter's natural rulership houses (this means that Moon dispositing Mercury in these houses would triple the person's spirituality). Why when we know that Mercury and Jupiter has nothing much in common?
The SECRET is that Mercury although debilitated in Pisces it is getting Neechan Bhanga due to the fact that Mercury itself is also the exaltation ruler of Virgo meaning Mercury represents both the debilitation planet in Pisces and also represents the exaltation ruler of Virgo conjuncting next to it. That is for the 12th house.
As for the 9th house, it is 10th to th 12th, so 9th is a sister of the 12th (remember I was saying in one of the earlier posts that 12th refers to the arts as well being 10th to the 3rd). So Mercury will also likewise do well in the 9th ie. has spirituality just like it does well on the 12th where it has great spirituality.
Hope the above clears your doubts.
