The expected combination - 3rd of written communication, 5th of creativity, mercury, Jupiter. The strength of the combinations decide how good a writer one becomes. This is not to be confused with fame, which is a different aspect. One can be an average writer and famous, or a good writer but low fame.
Here you go - a recent example right on this forum for a writer, or at least an aspiring one.

Hi Instud
There is one Yoga where writing and fame goes together.
And that is the 5th from Karakamsa.
Moon, Jupiter, Venus and Mercury in that descending shows the talents of the writer. And because it is the 5th from Karakamsa, which is the sign where the Atmakaraka is placed in the Rasi chart, Rasi being the chart of fame because it emphasises the Lagna, and Atmakaraka being the king, it also shows fame.

If the Moon is the 5th from Karakamsa and is the Atmakaraka itself, and is the Lagna Lord, and is in a kendra with all good planets in mutual kendras to it, the person is WORLD FAMOUS.
Dear intstud, ChandraLagna, Khoo,
Those are my details, and while I did write two fiction books (one of those e-book types, lost among many others), I'm going into technical writing now. ChandraLagna kindly answered my doubts regarding venturing into the field again.
But yes, far from famous, but with a great deal of interest in writing/communication. I wonder though, does having ketu in the fifth house and 10th lord sun in the 8th take away from earning potential? I'll probably write till I can't anymore, but it would be nice to know if money comes with it.
Naturally, to me, this is an interesting thread
Thanks!
regards,
anugeet

I read somewhere that 5th L in 11th makes a person a renowned author. Is it true?
Does the 5th house or 3rd house from Karakamsa in D9 hold any importance?

I am sharing charts of Ayn Rynd and Erwin Shrodinger.
Birthdetails of Ayn Rynd:
February 2, 1905, 3:30 PM
Saint Petersburg (Russia)
She was Russian-American novelist, philosopher, playwright and screenwriter. Her best sellers are ‘The Fountainhead’ and ‘Atlas Shrugged’.
The fountainhead is about individualism and has changed thinking/attitude towards life of many readers. This book is my all time favorite. It’s a romantic and philosophical novel she wrote over period of 7 years. Howard Roark is author’s ideal man of independent mindedness and integrity. At each step he refuses to follow the set path and faces so many troubles whereas his friend takes the routine and becomes successful temporarily. But its Roark who wins the battle at the end, not compromising on his values and integrity. His struggle represents the triumph of individualism over collectivism.
Her cancer ascendant makes more sense to me. Mercury lords 3rd house and is Vargottam. 5ht lord Mars is in 4th house. Effect of Mars on 4th and 5th house makes sense as she supported rational and ethical egoism. Exalted Venus aspects 3rd house and her cancer ascendant bring the sensitivity and depth to the romantic tale which is also important part of the book. Jupiter is Vargottam and placed in 10th house which is the reason she has got popularity as philosopher. Check placement of Saturn and Sun in 7th house of public figure. She was involved in Politics.
Brithdetails of Erwin Schrödinger:
12 Aug 1887, 8.33 am, Vienna Austria
He was a noted Physicist who formulated a wave equation, ‘Shrodinger Equation’. He criticized the conventional Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics using the paradox of Schrödinger's cat. He wrote a book, ‘ What is life’ , which talks about genetics and explains life from a physics point of view.
Wikipedia:
“ According to James D. Watson's memoir, DNA, the Secret of Life, Schrödinger's book gave Watson the inspiration to research the gene, which led to the discovery of the DNA double helix structure in 1953.”
His books are not as famous as Ayn Rynd's but he was a notable writer. You can check his chart for the brilliance that he had, his work as a scientist and a writer and also his non conventional life.
Regards

Hi Anugeet
10th lord in the 8th is probably one of the worst you can have for career potential, plus the fact that the Sun is a separating planet.
Nothing to do with writing.
The 8th house is such that nothing materializes which includes earnings. Unless if the planets there are very good, then you can have a breakthrough.
The fame in the 8th house comes suddenly and usually lay dormant until one fine day it opens up. Then you will be swept by the tides.

Yes, Saturn has.
Saturn has an inscriber role for Jupiter and Ketu an exalted inscriber role for Jupiter.
Ketu makes the person proficient in writing. Saturn makes the person write effectively.
Moon is both good in ideas and writing par excellence. No relation with Jupiter.

Khoo,
Thanks for the explanation. So the Sun in eighth (gemini here) negates any earnings potential, but there is possibility of recognition?
I am actually going into medical writing as a career. I guess I will have to see where it goes. And yes, career has always taken a back seat to familial needs which are many.
Also, where does ketu need to be placed to allow for writing proficieny? Does it have to be the 3rd/9th house?
Enjoy all of your posts! Was just going over your older posts on writing...

Hi Anugeet
Yes, Sun although separative, in the 8th gives the power to persevere until fame drops on its lap. 8th has Saturn as karaka so Sun+Saturn gives perseverance and authority and 8th has Mars as the natural ruler. So after a period of perseverance, Mars actually help the Sun to conquer new rich territories.
New legacies might arise, in this case knowledge and research findings, and because it is the Sun, has something to do with medicine because of Sun's exaltaion in Ashwini Nakshatra, the healing Nakshatra.
Ketu in the 5th is actually splendid for writing. The karaka here is Jupiter and the natural ruler is the Sun. Ketu's writing becomes more soften and broad-minded with Jupiter's influence since Jupiter+Ketu has strong religiosity undercurrents. The writing when fed into the Sun, the natural ruler of the 5th, further refines the output through the tapping of inner views and intuitions.
5th as you know is also the house of authorship.

Hello Janaki -
When a chart does indicate that a person would be a writer, do check if it is in some fashion tied to 10th, i.e. Karm or keerti, something that one has to do, or gets recognition from. Connection with Jupiter, or 2nd gives money along with fame.

It is a wonder that I ignored my compulsions for so long then! I attempted to set aside any writing aspirations believing in career practicalities, which unsurprisingly, never worked out. It all makes sense now. The light began to dawn with ChandraLagna's clear explanations in the other forum. Now your explanation ties it all up together for me.
Glad to note that there's possibility of greater things. Though I will be happy to just write! Ketu's influence from the 5th is a surprise...always thought that it took away from intelligence in some way, being headless and all. Am happy to know that it can help things along.
You have indicated everything that I am inclined to, at a gut level, with respect to writing. Though the Jupiter+ketu religiosity bit, I could maybe take to mean spirituality in my case. Then again, there could be a latent something yet to be discovered.
Thanks very much for your lucid explanations; made my day! Learned a lot today.

Hi Aurugeet
When I said religosity, it is spiritual in a way, and it is imbued all things undertaken by Ketu in the 5th house writing being one of them. That is what is meant by the spirit behind activities undertaken that come under the ambit of the 5th is high. Of course if you are a spiritual person at heart, then it would mean spirituality (spiritual of the overall person or not would have to depend on other areas of the chart as well eg. strong Moksha houses).
Gald that I have lighten your heart.

Thank you! Didn't think of it in terms of "spirit behind activities"...a new way to look at it.

I did read somewhere that to judge writing skills ... one must also check the D-24 divisional chart, especially the 3rd house and A3 (as how the writer is perceived by the world) of D10 and D24.
Correct me if I'm wrong though. Thank you.
