Hi I actually wanted to let the forum members know one observation that I have seen in many horoscopes of many great personalities with the Sun-Rahu combination where they are very famous in their respective fields but still many astrologers say Sun-Rahu spoils career because Sun is natural career karaka for example the Sun-Rahu conjunction is there in the horoscopes of Rahul Dravid,Hrithik Roshan,Roger Federer all who have had great careers am I missing something here ?

It is the same principle all over again.
Everytime when a node conjuncts a planet which is well placed by sign, the node accentuates the characteristic of that planet. When the planet is NOT WELL PLACED by sign, then the node adds to the misery of the significations of the planet.
The accentuation of Rahu and Ketu is about the same strength with Ketu only silightly less so.
But the characteristics of the accentuation is somewhat different.
Ketu accentuates the inner grit of the person which is conducive to careers in espionage or careers requiring perseverance. Rahu accentuates the showy part of the career like actors, head of a state, head of a corporation etc.
When Sun conjuncts Ketu and well placed, this gives rise to a person who is so high up in the organisation that only a few people would have access to his confidences. He also often works behind the scenes. Since Ketu has the qualities of Jupiter and Mars, it gells with the characteristics of the Sun, so the person is splendid in the protocols of his trade like spying, mysticism, asceticism and people who work with a pen name. They do all kinds of necessary support to protect their image and give their image an aura.
When Sun conjuncts Rahu and well placed, this gives rise to a person who is considered God by the masses, and he is only too willing to give his autograph to the man in the street if the business he is in calls for it, like in the case of an actor (Rahu signifies being an icon of the masses if well placed). The person has a magnetic persnality and he is kind too since the node follows the cue of the planet if well placed and the Sun is kind and Rahu is masses, so someoness who is a relief worker for the masses, for example. Sun and Rahu are enemies, so even if well placed, the person has to be on the lookout for people who hold grudges against him for being too successful. He also tends to get involved in causes that may not be too popular.

If you look at the Nakshatras which Rahu rule, they all have the characteristics of trying to actualise and becoming a better person in a very intense way. That is the way Rahu is. When spirituality touches it like being associated with the 12th house, it goes all out in that direction.
Nevertheless what I said about Sun and Rahu being enemies is true. For example Sean Penn is involved in mass relief efforts for one of the countries in Carribbean, I think it is Haiti. From the interviews he had with television personnel, you can see he is highly intense in giving out famine relief and it is like his calling - something spiritual within him.
Still, his cause although popular amongst his Hollywood colelagues, they are not wildly enthusiastic about it. And I believe one of his Oscar winnings, he did not garner much support from his peers. They thought that another person should have won. I believe the picture was Mystic River. (People change their mind when he won his 2nd Oscar for Milk where he performed as a gay political activist).
Nevertheless, Sean Penn is mighty in standing both in his professional and non-professional life generally and admired by others.

Yeah right on the money Shrikanth and Khoo I have this combination in my chart (thats the reason I ask about combinations in my horoscope ) my dad keeps on telling me this is not the age for spirituality etc go out enjoy the world but still whenever I dont give time to God I have this inner sinking feeling that something is not right in life so everything told about Sun-Rahu seems to be correct in my life Thanks a lot

Yeah SUn and rahu leads to lot of spirituality but at the same time you will face many situations in life ,which will hurt your ego but you will have to take it as it comes then it would lead to real bliss

Rasi lord mars in 9th house and 9th lord venus exalted in 7th with LL.
Moreover rahu and sun in venus nakshatra the 9th lord and mars 8th lord aspecting 12th house.

Sun - Rahu is capable of conferring fame, power, charisma all standing at the edge of a great fall. The Atma ( Sun ) in close proximity to Venom ( Rahu ), the native has conflicting images of Truth & Dharma ( Surya )and is unable to evolve ( Rahu ) at the inner self , while his/her understanding in the outer world ( Surya - Fame ) is camouflaged (Rahu ).

when sun is with rahu, rahu will engulf or eat sun and all its powers.it will convert sun into malefic.
sun will not work generally except mahadasha.
so it is not a good combination.
but if the sign placement is good then result may be variable.
for example if they be exalted or ownsign.
aspect of strong and beneficial planet on them will be beneficial.
there might be rashi parivartana in populars.
after all sun is not the only planet that defines career.
