Dear all,

I am new to this forum. It is quite interesting to follow up the discussions on analyzing the dashamsha chart.

I was wondering how does one determine whether a person has a job or not? whether a person may at all get into a job? also is it possible to determine the exact time when as to when a person gets promoted or is out of job?

It would also be quite illuminating if any one of you can throw light as to what would happen if the 10th lord of the D-1 chart (Rashi chart) occupies the 8th house in the dashamsha (D 10) chart. Does it mean permanent unemployment or could it mean that a person may be in a job related to research or occult sciences.

Would be great to get some insights from some of you.

Thanks a lot Shrikanth. That was quite illuminating and it is really very nice of you to take time to write a reply to my question.

In my own case, I have 10 Lord of lagna chart in the 8th house in dashamsha. I am a bit petrified.

My DOB is 16th Nov 1978, Hassan, Karnataka at 22.40

I am currently doing my phd in law in UK. While i intend to be an academic and pursue research in the future, it has been a hard process for me.

My lagna lord Moon is in the 11th house,
guru lord of the 9th and 6th is in lagna in an exalted position although not the point of deep exaltation.

Lord of the 7th and 8th Saturn in the 2nd house in Simha.

Rahu in the 3rd

Retrograde venus in the 4th

yogakaraka mars in 5th house in the lagna chart alongwith 2nd Lord sun and 3rd and 12th lord mercury.

Ketu is in the 9th

Interestingly I never intended to take up law. I always wanted to take up medicine, but that never happened. I took up law, actually without much thinking. My dad was a lawyer and thought may be I would join his office after my degree. But, after i finished by degree in 2002, I had a sudden urge to pursue masters and in a matter of 2 months I was in UK pursuing my master. I completed my masters in 2003 and came back to India. While I did my masters in commercial with the intend to pursue practice in corporate law, I had a deep urge to abandon that line of thinking and pursue research. For 3 years from 2003 to 2006 aug I worked as a researcher in bangalore. Therein I learnt many things as well as applied for phd. In 2006 despite all the best efforts I landed up a phd in an area that is of no direct interest to me. I again moved to UK in sep 2006 to pursue research in law on health regulation. Interesting that i ended up with health (probably 6th lord in the lagna- may be my interpretation is too simplistic).

From my lagna chart the yogakaraka mars is in the 8th from the 10th (probably means research). Mars is also posited in the 8th in my dashamsha while the dashamsha lagna (venus) is exalted in the 11th house and the 10th lord of the dashamsha chart is in the 10th along with mercury. So I was a bit confused. How do I interpret this given that dashamsha lagna is strongly placed in the 11th and the 10th lord of dashamsha is well placed (i.e in the 10th). I am a bit clueless.

Shrikanthji,

Sorry. But I still have some doubts. Hope you dont mind.

4th represents learning in D-1. Which of the following would be the correct way of looking at 4th in D-10?

1. How much does learning help the native in his career? (Cause)
2. How much does the native gets to learn through his professional life? (Effect)

[quote="Shrikanth"]Any such quick one line combinations would not be quite useful to you after all.

We could give a ton of such combination - but you would still have to find/collect charts and see them actually work - before you could effectively use them - it is about experiencing the combinations at work. That is what strengthens your learning.

Yes planets bearing some relation to the 10th house - should be well placed in the dasamsa chart for a good career. The same applies to the 10th house matters from the dasamsa chart. 10th lord in Dasamsa in 8th is definitely bad news for the job - surely in the annual chart.

Basically from a learning standpoint - when trying to find combination use the simple basic atomic elements to construct the combination.
For Career - A person gets a job (employment) because of his talents, skills, knowledge - so getting a job is directly related to 5th house matters.
The part of "working in a job" is 6th house of Service.
7th house would rule desire, your ambitions, goals and aspirations - when 7th is stronger than 6th usually means dumping Service for Business.

10th house indicates what you achieve in your career - the fame, accomplishments, the end results - A person may work hard all his life but may not be recognized as achieved something. 6th stronger than 10th. Another person may have achieved a lot of results in a relatively short period - Say a budding and brilliant Scientist achieves some breakthrough and has some recognition. 10th stronger than 6th.

The component of "fame" is still the 5th.

Switching back to the 6th or 7th.
The 3rd and 6th from the 6th or 7th indicate how well you perform you employment or your business.

Strong planets in the 7th will act as a maraka to the 6th - causing the dumping of service for business. but if the 3rd and 6th from 7th have soft benefics planets - then it shows a person who got impulsive and gave up job and business is no good.

The same apply from 6th as well.
Use the lagna lord as the indicator of what the native's direction is - application of intelligence.

A benefic lagna lord in the 9th (3rd from 7th) indicates a strong willed independent minded native who listens to lot of people but makes his own decisions. But he is ill suited for owning a business.

A malefic lagna lord in the 9th (3rd from 7th) indicates a similar native - but with more malefic energy and is quite well suited for pursuing his dreams, desire.

Just some pointers to get started.
