Natural benefic despite its functional maleficity also activates its kaaraktvas during its periods.
Natural malefic similarly also brings its kaarakatvas into prominence.
Hence a natural benefic if also a Sattvic planet brings a person closer to God. So in my opinion the periods of a Sattvic planet is always to be preferred as it gives various opportunities like Satsang & divine experiences ...

Next I would like a natural malefic who is a Sattvic planet. After that a natural benefic who is a rajasic planet but placed well...

The Dasa that gave King Yudhishtira humiliation; vanavaas; and again humiliation during Ajnaatavaas also gave him close contact with many great Rishis of his time. We are reaping the benefits of that association even now. I am presuming the dasa of a Sattva guna planet to show up like this - All those experiences will become meaningful in context. It can give great sorrow & misery but also spiritually elevate the person.
