Once we come to know that we are puppets in the hands of Lord Shiva who plays with these puppets, only then we get the jnanodaya, understand this nashwara shareera, and the meaning of Bagawanthas Eeshwaratha.
For that, one should understand jyothish shastras in and out. We have many people, who don’t want to understand the jyothish shastra and starts criticising the shastra.
There is a history and background for jyothish shastra also. This is one of the ancient Shastra in Hindu dharma. As I said earlier, learned jyothishis were there in our puranas. Jythishis were there in Lord Sri Ram’s aasthana. Garga Maha muni was a Jyothishi for Lord Sri Krishna. Sahadev was a jyothishi among pancha pandavas and was considered as a prominent jyothishi.
“Soorya brahma vyasa vasishta athri parashara: kashyapo narado gargo mareechirmanurangira:
Lomasha: paulatschaiva chavano brighu: shounakadhi ashtadashaschaithe jyothishastra pravarthaka: “---said in Narada samhitha 1 / 2, 3.1
(18 Munis name is mentioned in the above sloka. their name is 18 to match the Puranas of which also the name is 18, so revelation is 18 ways stated.)

Only after these 18 Mahamunis, Aryabhatta, Bhaskara, lalla, Brahmaguptha, Varahamihira and others came into prominence and gave immense contribution to this shastra.
There is a saying in Kannada---- “If Jyothish is false, then see Grahana. If Ayurveda is bogus, then eat Paashana (poison).” Jyothishis told much before than these scientists proved that Earth is round (oval shape) They used the word ---‘Bhoogola ‘in their granthas.
We can find Parasharas name in Hayagreeva stotra------“Vyasam vasishtanapthaaram shakthe: poutrama kalmasham. Parasharathmajam vande shukataatam taponidhim”. (Maha Vishnu avathar)
So it is essential, every jyothishi should know the Jeevan charitra of Parashara. If time permits we shall discuss his gothra, his baalya, how his father Shakthi Maharshi died, which is that shraap and durantha, rakshas sathra yaaga, his contribution to loka kalyan etc, etc in the next coming days.

It is basically what is happening now, people learn astrology for time pass or even for hobby and than criticize about ancient puranas and astrology.
There are also writings talking about Lankeshwar ( Ravan ) was also a good astrologer and well learnt in Vedas.
