i have Taurus Asc with Jupiter as 8th Lord which is debilitated in 9th house Capricorn. I also have Rahu in 8th house( Saggitarius). 8th house is aspected by Saturn.
Currently i am going through Jupiter Mahadasha. Jupiter Mahadasha has been good and beneficial from a growth perspective. Some very fortunate things happened. Mental agony has increased and has amplified in the Jupiter/Rahu subperiod.

I think the key lies in understanding "...no house lord will give results which are
against its house of rulership."
In the scheme of things lords of 6 and 8th are ordained to cause problems to the native. Hence if 6th lord gives health problems to the native it is indeed giving results of its house.

Certainly an interesting aspect. Hope some learned members would share their views.
One possibility if 6/8th lord being in own house is that it becomes so strong that it can go about its assigned work (of creating obstacles/diseases..) leaving lesser scope to the benefics to counter this.
There are some references in BPHS that gives rise to a feeling that a weak lord (debilitated) of these houses is beneficial to the native. You may also wish to see the recent article by Vaughnji on 8th house and the discussion thread initiated by Basabji on that.

Dear Mahesh and CRS,
6L, 8L & 12L will give very good
results if in own sign or in each
other's signs. This will be very
good in an unusual way.
For example, in an accident, a person
with 6L in 6H may escape with no
injury at all. This is indeed great luck
but in a different way. Many people
would focus on the accident and call
it bad while missing the point that
you escaped unhurt. It may also
give a harmonious relationship with
subordinates and good popularity
among them and so on.
A person with 8L in 8H may have
a rich and articulate wife and get
financial help from her as it is 2H
from 7H. He may also get a good
inheritance as 8H rules inheritance.
I have 6L & 8L in mutual exchange.
In the dasha of the 8L, I had a
miraculous escape from death.
Thus, I agree with Mahesh that
they give good results if well
placed.
Perhaps, the popular misconception
a) arises on account of ownership
b) arises on account of comparison.
Compare 9L in 9H with 8L in 8H.
Obviously, 9L in 9H will be more
"fortunate". As I pointed out,
the escape from the accident is
also "fortune" but may be forgotten
6, 8 & 12 are hidden houses. Thus,
in a way, it is a hidden fortune.
Regards,
Ashok

Thanks Ashokji.
6th lord in 6th is it good because it does good for the native or good because it does bad for native's enemys? Is the term vipareeta rajayoga indicative removal of nagativity rather than positivity?
I have 6th and 12th lords conjunct in 8th. My 12th lord Dasha has been good, though I would attribute the good part to planets in sub-dasha rather than the dasha lord. But certainly there were no neagative events like accidents, serious illnesses etc.
As for Mahesh's query on strength and effect of malefics, I feel strength and nature are altogethar different asects. A malefic (after taking afflictions, position, natural behaviour etc into account) with good shadbala will be a strong malefic

I have 8th lord in 8th house, and I have been running its period for the last 12 years--it's been extremely difficult without any respite for even a single day.
Should be good is my guess since:
1. 12th lord in 6th is good (vipareeta rajayoga)
2. It is conjunct a yogakaraka
3. Lagnesh is its dispositor
4. It is chandra lagna lord and placed in a quadrant from that perspective, though conjunction with Ma and Su (malefics for Ge, the CL) may reduce the effect
5. Navamsha position is strong (own house)

Ninaji,
Will a malefic in the 6th house, generally, give good results in its period? I am asking this because malefics in the 6th house do well, but when it comes to its period it will give the result of what the 6th house signifies, which are mostly of a negative type.

Mahesh,
You are right in saying that dusthana lords can give good results when strong. But results, as usual, have to be seen in their entirety.
For example, for Taurus Lagna, Venus in Libra may give excellent results in the sense - no enemies, loved by subordinates, no debts etc. Yet, as Lagna Lord in 6H it may not make life a bed of roses. One may have to work hard but will eventually attain success. The Upachaya factor makes things improve with time. Also, with respect to Lagna, its lord ocupies 6 from it. So, it may be more suitable for self denial than for self assertion.
It may be ideal for a life of service.
For Libra Lagna, Venus in Taurus makes it Lagna Lord in 8H as the primary lordship (moolatrikona) is Libra. Further, 8H results deteriorate with time. Again, aspects, star, position of star lord etc matters as do a host of other factors.
Take Lagna Lord Moon in 8H in Aquarius with Rahu and take Lagna Lord
Venus in 8H in Taurus aspected by Jupiter from Scorpio. Obviously, results will vary widely.
However, in general, your point that lords of bad houses can give good
results is true, in my view.

Ashok

Dear Mahesh,
Suppose a thorn is stuck in your foot, it causes pain. If a second thorn can be skillfully used to remove the first one, the second thorn has been a blessing. This is how a "vipareeta raja yoga" works. It caused pain, relieved the pain and enriched you by the experience. It may bring danger, leave you unhurt by escaping the danger but enrich you by
the experience. This is how lords of dusthanas when strong, can give hidden insight into life by various experiences, leaving the native largely unharmed. The fact that there is potential for harm but no harm is done or harm is largely minimised is the "blessing in disguise" or "hidden fortune". This, in my view, is how lords of dusthanas can give good results when well placed or strong, ie: in swakshetra or in each other's
signs. Where there is no "hidden fortune" or "blessing in disguise", a danger comes & leaves behind damage. Instead of one thorn, two may get stuck in the foot.
