Hi All,
In astrology does it mean breaking of 1st engagement means breaking of marriage.
In this case person should refer 7th house [1st marriage] of 2nd house [2nd marriage]
Thanks
Does Engagement break means 1st marriage break

Engagement is not the same as marriage.

What about situations in which a love relationship has continued for a long time and breaks down during engagement or any time before marriage can take place?
Does that count as first marriage breaking?

From my readings astrologically marriage is when
1. you have lived with the person as a man - wife.
OR
if you have had the traditional vedic marriage - saat pheras so to say
So an engagement not falling into either of the 2 categories is not considered marriage

If the vows were not taken, then it is not considered as marriage.

yes. First marriage solemnized by exchange of religious vows or civil rules (not gandharva vivaah or live-in relationships) should be seen by 7H and 7L conditions.

My dear swati123.,
Please give your natal planetary positions, along with the under mentioned information:-
1. Where are you, now, who is your family deity, are you doing or your parents doing regular pooja to your Family deity. Who is your family deity, how many elders and youngsters to you , are their marriages over. How many in unmarked.
With blessings,
Rao,6/10/12

Dear Swati123,
May Lord Krishna's grae shine on you. I am not as learned as some of the astrologers here. So pardon me if I have spoken out of turn.. We can try looking at the upapada. If one has been in a serious committed relationship, it definitely should be represented by the upapada. If upapada and/or second from it are afllicted.. it will bring a break in the relationship. Eighth from the first upapada will bring opportunties for the next relationship.
Best Regards,
mercurialman.

Swati:
Firstly, let me assure you that this engagement will not be considered as marriage.
Others, who insists that live-ins and engagement are considered as marriage... please read "K.N.Rao's books" and consult other senior members on the forum who time and time again have mentioned that marriage is considered only when vows are exchanged and Gods+ancestors are called upon to be witnesses. Simply moving in with somebody even if you want him to be your husband/wife, cannot be considered marriage in the social or religious sense. Now if a child is born while you are in a live-in relationship that's a different case (eg. Steve Job).

What are the indications of a broken engagement in a chart, if any, if it is not considered marriage?

- Lagna Capricorn, LL exalted in 10H.
- 7L is inimical to LL but placed in own house.
- Vargottam Mars in 2H from Lagna, conjunct with Venus, and 8H from Moon... Mangalik dosha is applicable from all points, chart should be matched for mangalik dosha. This is one of the reason for delay and will give you several breaks in relationships or marriage, if it remedies for mangalik dosha are not done.
- LL/Saturn aspects 7L and 7H in D-1 and 7H in D9.
- 8L, sun is placed in inimical house and is in NK of 7L and aspects 7L and 7H.
All in all delay is expected.
Current dasha: Ve-Mars (Ve is karaka for marriage, yogakaraka for Capricorn, and 7L in D-9, so it capable of giving marriage; Mars is LL and 8L in D-9 and conjunct with Venus, and is placed in Nk of Rahu.... this will act as a badhak).
Current transit: Ju in 5H, Ra/Ke in 5/11, Sa return in 10H.
Although there is yoga for marriage till May 2013, I believe chances are better in Ve-Ra dasha (Dec 2013 to Dec 2016).
Marriage will be gainful and emotional attachment will be strong. Spouse will be good-looking and will have an athletic personality.

Afflictions to 5H, 5L in D-1 and D-9 and of course afflictions to AL and UL have to be taken into consideration.astrolearner15 wrote: Explorings ji,

But a mere engagement should not be taken as first marriage.
@Explorings :- You have mentioned Marj + Ven conj will give you several breaks in relationships or marriage, if it remedies for mangalik dosha are not done.
I heard its makes persion more passionate ...does it cause break in marriage ... how and when ...at what degree we treat it as conjuction ... as both have no relation with 7th house

Hi Swati,
In the present dasha of Ven-Mars you should get married, probably arrange marriage. The dasha has just begun.
Its strange that your engagement broke in dasha of Ven-Moon. Moon is receiving aspects from several planets, maybe that has caused the delay.
Regards

If love relationship has continued for long time then it has to be treated as marriage and subsequent marriage (after breaking the love relationship) can be treated as second marriage.

Swati:
I don't think I have mentioned the highlighted text.
When I was mentioning about Mars conjunct Venus, I was pointing out that Mangalik dosha is applicable from lagna, moon, and venus. (FYI: Mangalik dosha is seen from lagna, moon, and venus with the degree of severity ranked as Venus>Moon>Lagna).
What I mean is Mangalik dosha usually gives breaks in relationships.
Hope I have addressed all your concerns.
