Prosperity & Wisdom: A Re-Summary for the Benefit of Readers

Hi Learned Members

This is important so I am making a re-summary here from bits and pieces of various past posts. This list is all in descending order.

Prosperity
------------

Tie in 1st place : 9th lord in exalation as detailed by Kerala Astrology OR 5th lord in its own sign aspected by appropriate planets in the 11th at least one of which must be in its own sign as detailed by BPHS

No 2nd place since there was a tie in the 1st place.

3rd place : 9th lord in its own sign in the 9th house and the same kind of planets for the 3rd house as indicated for the 11th house mentioned under the 1st place paragraph above.

4th place : Exchange between 9th and 5th lord.

5th place : 9th and 5th lord combined in a good house.

6th place : 9th and 5th lord combined in a not-so-good house.

7th place : 9th lord in its own sign but not in the 9th house.

8th place : 5th lord in its own sign but not in the 5th house.

Wisdom
----------

Tie in 1st place : 5th lord in exaltation OR 9th lord in its own sign aspected by appropriate planets in the 3rd at least one of which must be in its own sign as detailed in the 11th house for prosperity stated above.

No 2nd place since there was a tie in the 1st place.

3rd place : 5th lord in its own sign in the 5th house and the same kind of planets for the 11th house as indicated for the 11th house mentioned under the 1st place paragraph above.

4th place : Exchange between 9th and 5th lord.

5th place : 9th and 5th lord combined in a good house.

6th place : 9th and 5th lord combined in a not-so-good house.

7th place : 5th lord in its own sign but not in the 5th house. (5th is the 3rd of the 3rd so it beats the 9th in terms of intelligence even though 9th may be the 5th of the 5th).

8th place : 9th lord in its own sign but not in the 9th house.

Wisdom and Prosperity Combined

Tie in 1st place : Exchange between 9th and 5th lord OR both lords in exaltation

No 2nd place as there is a tie in the 1st place.

Tie in 3rd place : Either 5th lord in its own sign in the 5th house with the appropriate planets in the 11th house as detailed above OR 9th lord in its own sign in the 9th house with the appropriate planets in the 3rd house as detailed above.

No 4th place as there is a tie in the 3rd place.

5th : 9th and 5th lords combined in a good house.

6th : 9th and 5th lords combined in a not-so-good house

Tie in 7th place : 9th lord or 5th lord in exaltation but not both

No 8th place as there is a tie in the 7th place.

Tie in 9th place : Either 9th lord in its own but not in the 9th house OR 5th lord in its own sign but not in the 5th house.

Notice there are some overlap between the three lists but the ranking within each list for these overlaps are different depending on whether you are looking from the prosperity, wisdom or prosperity combined with wisdom viewpoint. Also under the prosperity combined with wisdom section, there are TWO MORE EXTRA CONDITIONS.

So you want wisdom or prosperity?

For the above list, under the item detailing own sign category, I have amended to include not only the planet must be in its own sign, but it must be in the appropriate house, 5th or 9th as the case may be.

I have also added two weaker conditions for each sectional list.

Just and interesting sidenote from the lists compiled above.

Assuming we just look at the 9th and 5th lords and forget abuut the these lords placed in their own signs in the 9th or 5th house respectively.

5th lord should be a stronger factor for WISDOM than the the 9th lord is a stronger factor for PROSPERITY (remember, we forget about the case where the 5th lord is in its own sign in the 5th house which gives very good prosperity according to BPHS).

What is the reason?

The reason is that 5th is the 5th of the 5th of the 9th meaning it is WISDOM magnified several times unlike the 9th which is only 5th of the 5th meaning the PROSPERITY is manified less in comparison.

Thus the 5th house not only rules mantras and initiation rites where the 9th represents external rituals. The 5th also represents the inner resolve through various supporting prayers to keep the external rituals effective. That is how powerful the 5th is.

Remember both 9th and 5th are Bhavat Bhavam of each other, but only the 5th is 5th of the 5th of the 9th and 9th is only 5th of the 5th.

As per B.P.H.S 9H or 9L represents minister and 5H or 5L[ 9th from 9th, Purva Punya] chief minister.

Status (minister or chief minister) is a proxy for wisdom but NOT 100%.

5th lord may be much, much wiser than the 9th lord. BUT if the 9th lord is in its own sign in the 9th Bhava, it becomes even wiser (just like the 5th lord in its own sign in the 5th Bhava is more prosperous than the 9th lord).

The reason for 5L having a chief minister status partly is because of the wisdom argument but also partly because the natural ruler of the 5th house is the Sun whereas the the natural ruler of the 9th house is Jupiter.

So VERY, VERY wise men (9th lord in 9th Bhava) are wiser than the king although ordinary wise men (the 9th lord) is less wise than the king (the 5th lord).

All rules only go on to show how important trikones are in chart and why trikone houese are lakshmi sthanas.
Things comes easily and naturally either due God's grace 9H/9L or from purva punyas 5H/5L.

Everything else requires effort (kendras).
No wonder people born in well to do/rich families/influential has usually very good trikones on D1,D9 and D60.

So for a person to be really rich or wise are the kendras are not of much of help?

On the other hand strong kendras without support from trikones can make it quite a task.

1H and 1L is different since it is both a trikone and kendra.

Thank you for your post.

How do these effects change if there are other Grahas in the 5th or 9th houses?

For example, for Taurus lagna, sat is in 5th and mercury is in 9th.. But mercury is combust bcoz sun is also in 9th. Moreover sun is in enemy's house. So would this weaken the effect of the 5th/9th lord exchange?

So for a person to be really wise or rich, the kendras only add the touch of practicality and effort in doing things that materialises easily with the help of a trikona for wisdom or proserity as the case may be although both 5th and 9th have amixture of both (kendras get on well with trikonas, better than say uppachayas).

Otherwise you do not really need kendras. But since most of has the ambition to become a Raja, we want the kendras anyway.

1H or 1L alhough a kendra and trikona, is actually MORE of a kendra since it is the 7th of the 7th. And being the 5th of the 9th and the 9th (5th of the 5th) of the 5th, it has a mixture of both prosperity and wisdom. But as it stands, it cannot beat either the 9th or the 5th on any of these two dimensions of prospeirty and wisdom alone. But 1st being a kendra, it adds practicality and effort.
