that's because for Gemini lagna saturn and venus are trinal lords(functional benefics) and they will do good even though they are lords of dusthana houses as well. that's why they are considered functional benefics for gemini lagna.

I know of a lady with sat in 2nd house, her lagna and rasi are both kumbha. She also had rahu along with sat. She did have a divorce after marriage and got remarried. I think she also had health issues but I dont think she had any financial problems at all, in fact she was rich.

She was extremely rude, very masculine and a dare devil. She did not have any thing feminine in her except that she calls herself a lady. In fact her brother was more feminine both in looks and character.
So it may the effect due to sani rahu in 2nd or also due to other planets and further, sani rahu in other houses may have different effects too. So dont take it as a generalisation.
