Ketu in lagna

Hi friends,

I have ketu in lagna in Vrichika. I have a question for all of you. Why is it that ketu in lagna gives failures and
disappointments in materialistic life. Why is it so? Ketu denotes Sri Ganesha who is prayed before any auspicious event. Why then Ganesha makes the lives of people, in whose lagna he sits, tough.
Shouldn't he remove all difficulties and problems from the native's life?

Dear Adi -
Amitabh Bachchan has Ketu in Lagna. He's not a failure in materialistic sense - not by a long shot. This generalization of results based on just ketu is not correct....the whole chart has to be seen.

Would this be the case in my chart? I have vrishchika lagna. 9th lord, moon in 5th house and lagna lord mars in 11th house. I think that here the 9th lord moon has the full aspect on lagna lord mars.

I am not sure what role would the strength of mars and moon would play. Currently financially i am in dire straits.

As I review your chart.
This chart is quite strong and good potential from a religious/spiritual perspective.
I would still say that you would be possessing and enjoying Material pleasures as well.

Vrischika (Scorpio) Lagna with Sun-Jupiter and Ketu in the lagna;
Mars in the 11th aspected by Moon forming a strong Chandra Mangala yoga.
Mercury is in the 2nd but part dusthana.

Venus strong in the 12th with exalted Saturn.

You just turned to Venus dasa in Jan 2012 and that may be the reasons for some financial weakness.
You should be able to come out of it Oct 2013 timeframe.

No. not really.
If you look closer specifically in this chart.
Vrischika (Scorpio) Asc with Ketu placed strong in the Ascendant. So this makes him a strong Scorpio + Ketu person. strong spiritual bend.

Jupiter is the 2nd and 5th lord in the Ascendant.
This is considered very auspicious. Jupiter in Asc is always good,
5th lord in Asc is also good.

Sun as the 10th lord in the Asc is again another big plus.
Note how closely Sun and Jup are to each other.
Makes the person very charitable, knowledgeable, wise and mature.

When two planets conjoin each other - it never ends up as a complete nullification of one.
One of them dominates but the result is a gradient mix of the two.
Like when you mix two colors - but add more quantity of one color.

I also have Ketu in lagna and am in Shani Mahadasa and Ketu Bhukti. During this period of the Ketu Bhukti I have experienced a marked lack of interest in material pleasures and an increase in orientation toward spiritual practice. I would have to concur with Shrikanth's assessment overall.
Ketu in the lagna gives self-doubt and a tendency toward isolation. It also gives wisdom and psychic sensitivity which is often expressed in a negative way as narrowness and self-righteousness. As with everything, it is up to the individual to bring self-awareness and the light of spiritual practice to bear. I think mastering the energy of Ketu in the Lagna is difficult, but in the end it is moksha karaka.

I haven't experienced saturn-ketu but i have seen ketu-saturn and i can say that it was the worst period in my life. I never felt so much pain in my life. Obviously many external situations were created which made my life hell. These events really ripped my heart open. There was such an intense feeling of pain and sadness inside that i could not even explain them by the external happenings. But that pain worked as rocket fuel to take me towards god. I would say that nothing can bring you near to god as fast as pain.

I feel thats what ketu wants and gives. Atleast in my case. He gives repeated failures in all endeavors which bring me pain. And this pain has made me somewhat quite spiritual. At one time i was quite good in math and sciences. Now it feels that i have become master of spiritual sciences. I can speak about spirituality at a stretch.

So yeah it is good for spirituality but maybe because i have ketu+sun(10th lord) so ketu has totally destroyed my 10th house. After long struggle i am able to get low-level jobs only.

Even i have ketu in lagna along with moon. I am undergoing so much pain that i cannot tell. It has brought lot of loss and failures in life like in job.. Even though i am reasonably OK abt my performance in the job front, still i lost job. Ketu has given me lot of spiritual knowledge..

Dear Naga:

I think your horoscope and its effects are due to sarpa or Naga dosham. The serpents most of them falls into thrimurthi amsa as per Parashurama and they are given a special place, in fact equal to thrimurthi daiva amsa.

I have also no idea how to overcome it permanently currently. If in case in future, if i come across the preceptors who instill in me some idea as to what is permanent solution, i will let u know.

Though temporary remedies are there like performing Sarpa Bali and giving Noorum-Palum etc to Sarpas on Ayilyam, Magha, Krittika Nakshatra etc at Sarpa Shrines. This will help in calming down the effects temporarily and might open new ways as well at times, but this remedy is temporary only. I mean one has to keep performing this remedy from time to time whole life as a temporary measure.

One can also visit Lord Muruga temples as Lord Muruga is king of Sarpa Rajas and Naga Rajas. Also, a beneficiary of star Krittika.

If you come across good snake pits other than in Sarpa Shrines, u can offer milk to snakes etc. is other measure. Also, doing manjal podi (turmeric powder) and milk abishekam etc to snake idols in snake shrines etc. also helps.

As you have said, i am already doing this remedy from past 2 months that is there is a Ayyappa temple near my house where they perform Naga pooja on every ayilyam day. On that day, they do turmeric and milk abhishekas to Naga devatas. Regularly i am giving for pooja. Let me hope for the better in future. Thanks, God bless you

Hi Srikanth,

I need your help. I have been undergoing severe depression related to career. The pain is unbearable. It leads be to smoke and drink as a relief. I have frequent emotional outbursts in private. I went to nadi centre but they gave a brief description only.

Not only is her Ketu in lagna, but her Lagna Lord Sun is at 0 degree i.e., in Sandhi and is also placed in the Lagna. This is causing double stress on her Lagna. Mercury counters Ketu and Sun in Sandhi, but I feel Sun-Ketu effect may show from time to time.

She has materialistic tendencies because of Mercury in Lagna. But she will also be slow in keeping the practical life on track.

Ketu-Sun are making her react in an impulse manner. Sudden outbursts of temper are not ruled out.

How was her Rahu-ketu period?

May be due to mercury in lagna she thinks too much of money. Its only money and money on her mind. She has no career at all. Couldn't even complete graduation. Not at all practical.

She went to 1st year college in Rahu ketu which is coming as dec 2007-dec 2008. That period was better for her as compared to how her life goes. But couldn't complete the course. Quite a sad life at home.
