what happens if exalted planet is in 12th house?

If there is exalted planet in 12th house then one may have well settled life or can work abroad .
His losses will be reduced .
As 12th house also governs sleep related disorders so that disorders will also be reduced .

I have jupiter & venus in 12th house in sagittarius sign.. What does it signify ?

It depends on the whether the planet is benefic or malefic for the charts. An exalted malefic in dushthana is said to be good. But, as I said, further analyzation of the chart is required to make prediction.
Benefic exalted planet may give abroad settlement, income from foriegn land. On flip side, it can also result in spending on bad habit or unstable married life.
Another parameter to analyze is to check ishta and kashta phal. These parameter gives idea how much good or harm planet can do. Moreover, sum total aspect to the house should be analyzed as well.
Exalted planet in 12th does not give much special results usually, I feel.
As for ista phal and kasta phal, I see in many cases, with lot of kasta phal for a planet, the person is doing very well.
So a combination of several factors is important, not just this- for eg, exalted or debilitated or swashetra or neecha and so on, astavarga points for each planet, shadvarga points, aspects on the planet, is it in papakartari etc and several other factors need to be considered in tandem. That is why judgement from just one factor such is ista kasta phala can be misleading.

Dev, see above, i clearly stated that we need further analysis. I mentioned Ishta/kashta phla because it is often not taken into consideration.
Same goes for 12th lord in 12th house? Auspicious to work abroad or not?
Mercury for Cancer is functional malefic. I have it in my 12th house. With another functional malefic Venus. Both retorgade.
I m settled abroad. I sleep more/long time when i get to since childhood.
