Dear Shrikanth,

Good to have this old post revived. My rahu is in Taurus and in 9th house. Jupiter in Dhanu aspects it from 4th house. I have never had any kind of problem with elders or authority figures. In fact, ny relationship has been very cordial. Further, my education, though carried in extremely difficult situation, has been excellent. I am living in the US, pursuing highest possible education. Also, I am not religious. I believe in the efforts put by humans than in dead gods. During my rahu antardasha I came to the US, did well in my work, got awards and recognition, but lost my mother. I am still figuring out rahu's position in my life. Right now I am in Jupiter antardasha in Mercury mahadasha; life definitely feels better, but for some reason more uncertain than it did rahu antardasha. I would like to the thoughts of esteemed members on rahu's position in my chart.

Here are the details, if anyone cares to see the nakshatra:

Birthday: 29th September, 1984.
Time: 6:20am
Place: Varanasi, India.

Dear Shrikanth,

That is so interesting. Wow, if rahu is in eighth then my ketu is in second. Does this change a lot of things about the horoscope. I always thought my moon wad bad, as it is in scorpio in third house with ketu. I an just curious, how would you read the good and bad aspects of my chart

Hi,
I'm an Aries lagna and I have Rahu in 9th house with Jupiter.I've always been very religious since my childhood and had cordial relations with my elders but yes I hate being dominated and want to do my own thing. My Rahu dasha was very bad for my father in every way possible and I had to struggle a lot in my life.
I'm in my Jupiter-Venus dasha and been suffering a lots of health problems.Jupiter has given me foreign travel.kids and money but poor health and no career. So its been a mixed Jupiter mahadasha for me.Im in UK now and last year,in November I lost all my jewelry and cash after a burgalry and has caused me a lot of mental trauma and health has gotten even worse.

Rahu in the 9th does have the usual side effects as I mentioned earlier on - but when Rahu is compensated by a strong Jupiter or a strong Sun - this Rahu can be "tamed"

The compensation can also happen from a practical perspective - Natives who have Rahu in the 9th and have a strong support and guidance of Guru's/Father/GrandFathers around them and constantly keeping the native in check and not letting them get misguided - grow up to be phenomenal success stories.

In your case Rahu is with a strong Jupiter - so the Rahu is compensated by the strength of this fiery Jupiter well placed in his own house.
Dear Shrikanth,

The above quoted seems very relevant as far as a native (with Rahu in 9th) I know. As far as his life's concerned, the native's biological father, his maternal grandfather and his step-father have very prominently defined (both positively and negatively) every aspect of his life (Although, in his case, Jupiter's 0'07" in Aries conjoined Ketu and Sun is in its innimical sign of Aquarius, perhaps a reason why there's an element of 'negativity').

DOB: 26 / 02 / 1976, TOB: 7:00 AM, POB: 67 E 03' 00", 24 N 52' 00"

The native lost his (biological) father within few months of his birth. He alongwith his mother was almost disowned by his father's family and the two had to move into his maternal grandparents' house. Since he was raised by his Nana. Eventually, when he was 6, his mother was remarried but he still had to keep shifting between his Nana and his mother's house. The step-father, a man of limited resource supported the native's education, even sent him abroad twice for further education (a pretext to eventually settle down and make monies) but never acknowledged him as his son back home.

Although they mutually claim that they love each other completely, there are times when the step-father makes him realise that he's under an obligation, especially when the native has to make a choice! (Once even said that after all he's not his blood!)

Like the family has its own decent-sized manufacturing unit, but the native's parents insists him to pursue a job so that the steady income to the family doesn't stop. Same applies, when it comes to his personal life. The bottomline is, even at 36, the native is not able to take his decisions.

But having said that, I'll also tell you that this is just one side of the story. Because as far as, I have observed the native is not as pitiable as he comes across. You see, he's strong willed, resilient, he always comes across as a very warm, reliable and harmless person but in reality, he's everything but that. He's very manipulative, crafty, insecured, and in fact, there's a tinge of scary wickedness in him. Someone who won't hesitate one bit in resorting to wrong means to wriggle himself out of a difficult situation. I think, he's Rahu personified. He can actually make people believe in the illusions he creates.

Coming back to your observation, I was just wondering if we can attribute this particular native's dual characteristics to his Jupiter (0"07 Aries) conjoined Ketu and/or Sun in Aquarius? You see, the influence (or rather the lack of it) of guru / father figure / a strong role model!

You see, everything pertaining to religion, morality, ethics, principles is RELATIVE for him. If it's convenient, then it's a yes for him, if it's not, then he'll easily make a sorry face and say he's helpless! Perhaps, something he's grown up watching? His negative experiences with Authority figures / father figures?

Would like to have your comments on this.

Regards,

Karmatrix P.S. The native's currently running his Rahu MD (Took him to foreign shores multiple times, got engaged on family's insistence - eventually broke the engagement, fell in love with a foreigner [Rahu?] - eventually couldn't pull off that as well, Reason: Religion [Jupiter?], finally got married at 35 to someone his step-father [Sun?] insisted on).

I woulda been a millionaire a long time ago!"

1)Rahu is the dragons' s head, the impostor, the asura amongst the devtaas, not belonging there but wanting to be like them.......in modern times these traits translate to innovation and upwardly mobile if Rahu is positive.
Rahu also stand for foreign lands, diffrent castes, uncoventional religions and beliefs.

2) The 9th house is the house of religion, dharma, long distance travel, luck and the father...it is he most powerful of the trinal houses and a lakshmisthan.

3)Rahu in the 9th does make for a rather diffrent perosnality.....because of superimposition of many extreme charcaters of a planet on a house that carries many similar significations.

so Rahu in the 9th would defnitely give the native a sense of value system that is not conventional....it can be an alternative cult/ susbect follower ship and even the desire to set up one's own system / school of spiritual thoughts i.e positive but unconventional if Rahu is positive for the chart.....and shadowy/ immoral if Rahu is malefic for the chart.

4) Rahu is the karak for foreign living and foreign lands and 9th is the hosue for long distance travels.......Rahu in the 9th would make the person undertake long ( in distance and time) travels to foreign lands and even within ones' own country.

5) The other lesser ( than no. 3 and 4) signification of this combination might be detachment, separation with father and strong possibility of romance/ love affairs with women from diffrent culture

regards

PS* none of these signs should be considred standalone...many other karaks and house lords will exagerate or dampen the above

I concur Shilpa's post. I have rahu in 9th in tarus, and I am not religious, but I have my value system. I am living abroad, researching, and have intentions of making home in a foreign country. My relationship with my father is complicated, though loving, but he himself is a very unconventional man. In fact, his rahu sits in lagna with Jupiter in dhanur. I can see the connection via the post

According to some western astrologers, JK Rowling (Author of Harry Potter Series) has Rahu in the 9th house in Taurus. She achieved fame in her Rahu dasa. Can anyone throw light on the success story of JKR during her Rahu MD? A Virgo ascendant with Jupiter-Rahu conjunction in the 9th, Venus/Moon/Mercury in the 12th, Mars in the ascendant, Sun in 11th and Saturn in the 6th. Rahu MD was in operation from 1989 to 2007.

Rowling's time of birth isn't very accurate, but you can deduce some of the major events in her life. Harry Potter just popped into her mind when she was waiting for a train which luckily got delayed by 4 hours, this was the start of Rahu maha dasa. Rahu represents mind and ketu signifies rest of the body, that's why things just pop in to our minds without any warning. And the placement of Rahu in Taurus is very benefic. But she also went through clinical depression till the year 1996 - this was due to Rah-Saturn period and she finally got her story accepted in 1996- during Rah-Mercury period, that was the start of her endless fortune- which is what 9th house signifies, the house of spritiual enlightment, good luck and fortune.

In Rowling's case, dispositor of Rahu, Venus is in 12th, which is auspicious. Venus in 12th enables one to have all luxuries in life for which source of funds will also be destined during the dasa. Besides, the placement of Rahu in Rohini, Moon's constellation has proved very beneficial. Moon being the 11th lord of profits has bestowed unprecedented prosperity on her through profits from publishing (Kanya ascendant with 10th lord in conjunction with the yogakaraka Venus, along with the Moon.) Conjunction of Venus and Moon in itself is a Raja yoga for Virgo ascendants, as they are Lord of the 2nd and 11th.

Shrikanth wrote:Dear SG,

Reviewing your chart - Your chart is quite strong and holds a lot of potential in the current and also near future.

Now Rahu is also a Badhaka planet for Aries ascendant - so does cause a lot of mischief and turmoil wherever he's placed. Here he's placed with Jupiter and in the 9th house. So Father undergoing some struggle makes sense.

Jupiter as the 9 and 12th lord with Rahu as the Badhakesha giving foreign travels makes perfect sense.
Lagna lord Mars in Leo in 5th gives a religious and knowledge/learning oriented person - good.

I also notice the extremely close conjunction of Merc-Sun in Virgo - that can the root of your health problems. Merc is a major dusthana lord for Aries Ascendant (owns 3 and 6) and is conjoined with Sun as the fifth lord of ability to fight off health conditions/ailments etc.,
Health conditions are probably mostly around digestive organs (stomach, liver, pancreas), may be too much of acidity, ulcerous conditions.

Using a 360 tithi years - I see you are running Jup/Sun from Sep 2011 to Jun 2012.

Very interesting chart yours.

Shrikanth
Dear Srikanth,
Thanks for very good analysis of my chart. You are accurate in saying that my health issues are in my stomach area i.e. my Liver. As my Jup/sun is till Jun 2012,will there be any positive or negative changes in my life after that?I've relocated about 5 times since March 2011 and its been too much for me and my family.I hope things get a little better in coming months.
Thanks

Shrikanth ji,
Thanks a lot for the detailed analysis.

Your other observation cum prediction is spot on.

Rahu is also placed in UL - so he may be LOOKING FOR relationship/partners who are wayward or unconventional as well; may be even foreigners or other backgrounds/cultures. - But I think he'll end up marrying a wife that is just an opposite of his personality - MORE traditional/ religious and down to earth

This is quite true.

He had a relationship with a middle aged widow from an erstwhile royal family during his engineering days. Had an Israeli Girlfriend as well during that period. Even otherwise has a lot of friends from different nations with whom he collaborates for his work.

As far as religious wife, I think it might come true. If there is one person whom he listens to is his classmate ( daughter of a South Indian Brahmin family). She is a doctor who dotes on him, stands by him and is the only one who can reprimand him for his wayward ways without him doing something nasty. Also he is very protective towards her .Then he is straight for a month or two before relapsing. a recurrent pattern for last few years.

Thanks again for the analysis.

In Rahu Guru conjunction in Meena, does Rahu have more strength here if it is at the same degree as Jupiter (retrograde) or if Jupiter gets more power in its own house?
